I just have to applaud the devs on Ghost’s character development throughout the campaign. Went from wanting to work alone, and outright being annoyed with having to work with Soap, to accepting it and declaring him part of the team. Not to mention the fact that at the beginning Ghost wanted to leave the people in the crashed helicopter, and then at the end he went by himself when Price went down. Bravo developers.
The rebooted soap and ghost characteristic is inverted because in the classics one ghost is more less “keep it tactical, stay frosty” guy if you know what i mean you can see it in the gulag where soap shut ghost when ghost making some jokes just like where in rebooted one ghosts shut soap in the prison break cctv part

So they basically had a (Semi) - Personality switch between Soap and Ghost, Ghost being the new leader with Soap's grizzled experience personality and New Soap doing the computer stuff like old ghost with him being a little bit more green (and shorter). Makes sense tho, this Soap didnt really watch his closest friends get executed as he and Price were near death in a collapsing bridge against a terrorist leader slowly making his way against you in a literal pre-war world where nukes were dropped only to be sent to actual WW3, so, y'know, neither here nor there as to why this Soap is so spry.
Then again this ain’t the FNG also Soap is still the one who fight straight at them despite being smaller also I’m pretty sure ghost is still the tech guy
I can't be the only one who gets chills seeing the full circle that they did with this game. When they're at that bar and you hear Makarov, it just sends chills down my spine. I wish the new generation could experience like us OGs have.
I haven’t played the old MW2 campaign yet(I plan on it) but I have kept up with some of the cod lore and I know well enough that Makarov SHOULD send a chill down anyone’s spines(it did with me).

The relationship between Soap and Ghost swapped, in MW2 Soap was in charge of Ghost, he was also taller, stronger and more intimidating than him. But in MWII, Ghost is the stronger one, and and Soap takes OG Ghosts position. I also like that the new Ghost is a more important character, in the original he was just an NPC with a cool design, and he was insanely overrated.
I always viewed OG Ghost and Emile from Halo Reach the same, the skull mask or skull helmet, they don’t say much but it’s cool when they chime in from time to time and their deaths are memorable, but with the new Ghost he’s more vocal than before and has more of a friendship style with his squadmates
It shows all signs your point is right as he lived as an unimportant character and was given a sad death. Infinity Ward looked at this and took advantage of the situation making it so Ghost appeared on almost everything COD related: COD Mobile, MWII, Warzone, Warzone 1984, he's became the most popular and well known character in Call of Duty. Seeing him return in Warzone Season 2 made me too excited.

It’s a very good thing the new Modern Warfare series exists. Back then, I didn’t really take COD characters serious, due to, I don’t know, lack of...character development? I’m not an expert in storytelling, but I know how it works. Sure OG Ghost was cool in his comic story, but in the original Modern Warfare 2, I saw him as some soldier wearing a skull mask for personal reasons, and that’s it. Well, new Modern Warfare 2 came, and I think this is the best Ghost I’ve ever seen. This is the version of Simon Riley I prefer the most😁
I think the most part is every CoD game has different soldiers, no actual connection to the previous CoD games. Black Ops was amazing but it eventually goes stale. Vanguard didnt solve the problem, and its also a missed opportunity to bring back Reznov too since it took place in WWII. They also kinda messed up Cold War when they changed VA for both Mason and Woods. Even Woods’ original VA was unaware of the new game and mocked it for not being like how the game originally was in Black Ops 1 and 2. At least for reboot MW, they kept it consistent.
@@Deathmare235 Act 3 of MW2022 is a bit messy, but from what I got from it is that 141 got into deep and Shepherd does mention that Graves is his to own or something like that, and Shadow company is full of mercenaries and are more for the paycheck then they are the actual stakes. 141 is more humble and is more about the stakes than about money if that makes some sense.
Ghost from the reboot is a much better written character, like, he really feels like the man from the comic, that went through shit and has nothing dear to him (except soap), there's so much depth

I respectfully disagree. We already got to see Soap as the new recruit and how he learned and gained experience under an expert and elite team. Ghost was the cool dude who you could rely on during the mission, and I think they should've put more light into that instead of recreating his character.

As characters, I much prefer the new Ghost and Soap. They feel more human and fleshed out whereas in the original, they were just soldiers doing missions, barely interacting. In fact, I never got the hype for OG Ghost, he was just another guy in the squad and his death never made me all that sad, unlike Soap’s death. Even Yuri and Sandman felt like more important characters than the OG Ghost ever did

nah you just bought into the idea dark "tactical" appearance /deep voice is good, in reality its overplayed and already being overshadowed in media becuase people realised how shallow it actually is Old ghost had little screen time, not an OVERPLAYED deep voice and not an overengineered outfit and yet was one of the most loved characters of the franchise. That's a testamant to how well he was written and designed, not that he was overrated.
This Ghost is *chef’s kiss*. Love that there’s an actual dynamic being illustrated rather than the OG formal, superior/subordinate approach. The power dynamics switched, but there’s still personality and chemistry shining through their interactions with each other and everyone else. And they both get to be BAMF’s ❤

I grew up with the og cod so in my opinion it’s weird to have Gaz under ghost when he was soap senior in cod4 mw, I mean he’s the one who had the highest record of the sas squadron also. Gaz died and soap avenged him and he became captain/field commander in the mw after that and price was his only senior after Shepard betrayed them . Ghost was a lieutenant still but he was also a field commander of the 141 as well which still gave him authority and he was roach’s senior . Now with the reboot cod bring everyone back except roach and it makes the hierchy look even more difficult and confusing because to me soap is also known as Captain mactavish now hearing him be called sergeant is kinda weird seems like a demotion through the story . Gaz was a Lieutenant and now he’s down to sergeant as well and his design is the complete opposite of what he was before . Captain price was actually a old man but since bill Murray got too old to act anymore they had to switch voice actors along with price’s design which took out the og feeling in Captain price .

They are soldiers, you don't get to focus on the human part, though it does play a big role nonetheless. The primary goal is the mission.
I don't really like the new weird mask though. I preferred the old ski mask and sunglasses, but at least at the end, we see him with the ol' ski mask.

The power dynamics switched, but there’s still personality and chemistry shining through their interactions with each other and everyone else. And they both get to be BAMF’s ❤

Not gonna lie,but I dont like og ghost.He didn't say any badass line,even tho he had one of the most brutal back story he very soft voice,cause the voice actor was same as gaz from og mw.but the new one of the most cold hearted peopl I have ever seen in a movie or a video game other than the doom guy.he sound badass,looks badass,every single thing about him is just perfect for ghost in the new triology,my man has the power to surpass every character in the new triology

I grew up with the og cod so in my opinion it’s weird to have Gaz under ghost when he was soap senior in cod4 mw, I mean he’s the one who had the highest record of the sas squadron also. Gaz died and soap avenged him and he became captain/field commander in the mw after that and price was his only senior after Shepard betrayed them . Ghost was a lieutenant still but he was also a field commander of the 141 as well which still gave him authority and he was roach’s senior . Now with the reboot cod bring everyone back except roach and it makes the hierchy look even more difficult and confusing because to me soap is also known as Captain mactavish now hearing him be called sergeant is kinda weird seems like a demotion through the story . Gaz was a Lieutenant and now he’s down to sergeant as well and his design is the complete opposite of what he was before . Captain price was actually a old man but since bill Murray got too old to act anymore they had to switch voice actors along with price’s design which took out the og feeling in Captain price .

I'm working on it! this hardware is ancient!!! this is from the OG if this mission happened in the new game the dialogue would be like this: (Soap: Ghost could you open the door for me ^^?, ghost: i will try but be careful i don't want you to die teammate^ , Soap: ghost it's the wrong door LT :(, ghost : im trying my best its not working D: Soap: it's ok i trust you with my life
