    friend, thank you VERY MUCH !!! This DIY tutorial was VERY helpful to me to change my Altezza's wheel bearing by myself. If I'm going to do a video for my channel for SOTA Mods, I'd like to post your video link in the description, since it helps me a lot and I want to share it with others.
    Please keep going :)

    Hello, nice timelapse video.
    Well done and well explained!
    I have had my fron bearings replaced on my lexus is 200, but after one year one of them begun making noise , the other is quieter but the internal part of the tyre is consumed so will have both of them replaced again but won't buy SKF bearings again , will use nipparts..
    thanks again!

    I might recommend torquing that axle/hub nut to the correct value and safetying it with the locking tab 👍🏼

  • @T07N
    @T07N 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    What sucks about a job like this is that you do all that work and the next thing that breaks is the lower ball joint. Best to get all of it done at once.

    • @UncleTinman
      @UncleTinman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a valid point. Sometimes it's not within the budget. Fortunately for this ball joint it doesn't take as much work as some other ones... ie.. Honda Accord where the axle would need to be removed.

    Other than noise from the front, were you getting any other symptoms like vibrations or car not going straight down the road?

    • @UncleTinman
      @UncleTinman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question.. the only symptom was the noise... to experience vibration and alignment issue would mean the bearing is severely worn out.. if you jack the wheel up you'd most likely be able to shake it quite a bit.

  • @T07N
    @T07N 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I just finished this job. I think you made a mistake by using the impact to run down the axle nut. The preload for the bearing won’t be properly set and this may lead to premature wear. Everything else was good though. Thanks for the tutorial.

      @@UncleTinman I didn’t drive it too long , I left it parked in a parking lot and he drove by that same day checked it out with out me but he says that all the suspension parts appear to be fine including the bearing. Ofc he said it was going out but he didn’t associate the smoke directly with the bearing. I personally don’t what else it could be since I’ve pratically have had the whole front suspension rebuilt including brakes pads and calipers. I personally think it’s just now starting to go out and maybe that’s what it was? Like metal to metal or perhaps the grease catching on fire.

    Is it worth trying this with a sleeve puller? I guess I can pull out the bearing and push the new one in because there is a open gap in the middle but getting the hub in will be trickier. I'm thinking I could put the caliper bracket and rotor on with a screwdriver to lock it and pull the hub in using its own nut possibly? But then the thread needs to poke trough enough so I can get the nut started on it.

    • @UncleTinman
      @UncleTinman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you tap the hub with a hammer.. it'll close up enough for you to thread on a nut to close it up.

    My rotor is wobbly with wheel on or off what could that be? Bad front wheel bearing hub? Warped rotors? Wheel whistles while driving but goes away when braking

    • @UncleTinman

      Not sure what kind of whistle... but it's possible that the rotors are warped. I'd suggest getting your car inspected by a qualified shop.
