Excellent 2009 tutorial still applies now in 2022.
Thank you so much! I used your video since I didn’t know where to put the little roller on me and my dad’s 1967 Ford Mustang. I had free time so I decided to fix it myself and I did it! Thank you so much for this video!
Just replaced rollers with help of this video and also lubricated the tracks and other things and windows finally work. Thanks for the video.
Spent 3 1/2 hours trying to get the rollers in the tracts and they kept popping out. After watching this video it was so easy to do! Thank you!!
Remember to remove window handle before removing panel. Also use silicon lubes with plastic rollers, petroleum grease/oil break down plastics. Petroleum grease/oil is good for metal on metal contacts.
Great advice. Thanks !
Thank you for this video. My rollers were in good shape but had fallen off. I put them back on and everything is working great.
Thanks Chris! Your explanation made it an easy job. Greetings from Amsterdam!
Glad to help.
Thank you again , yours vídeos are always helpful.
Great Video I followed step by step and fixed my window. Thanks!
I did the hard way before watching this video. Took out the whole quarter window and assembly, then cleaned and took out all the rust, also clear coated the track assembly to prevent future rust, then sprayed sound deadner inside the window terminal. Then I use COASTAL grease to lubricate all the slider tracks. Put the quarter window back in and aligned it, and now the window slides 90% perfect with handle ease. Before the restoration my window was stock and no way of rolling it either way!
Replace the rollers and greased the tracks in my 66’s rear windows and it was a night and day difference. Way smoother and it stays in track now. After doing one of the front windows the same it is still really hard to roll. I’m thinking I will have to replace the whole regulator. Unless you have some wisdom for me. The tracks on the ends have some kind of felt in there. Can I grease those?
Thank you for the great videos!
Yes, you can grease those tracks. The regulator is the issue. Grease it well also.. Glad to have helped...
Chris The Doc Ingrassia Thank you for the reply. I will try that.
Thank you, you explained it very well so I got it!
Where can I find the larger diameter window slider rollers. They are attached to the bottom of the actual glass window. Your videos are awesome thanks!
You may be able to get them from the guys at Kentucky Mustang parts...Talk to Duane or David. Tell them you saw my video.
LOVE your channel! Thank you so much for sharing!
Hi, great video, thanks. Do you know if the 3 plastic bushes on the quarter window itself are replaceable if they are worn do you need to replace the complete window?? I can't see them anywhere as a spare part. Thanks
Those normally don't wear out. That is why you don't see them.
@@MustangRestorationsInc thanks
Great vids! Thank you! I tried going to the used ford mustangs for sale page but it appears to be an inactive page.
Chris..need your help ! My rear window quarters have all the parts in place EXCEPT the long back plate and the glass itself...I have no clue how to get the glass in (I think I can figure the back plate ) but NO ONE ever shows an install. They just show taking it apart (hey anyone can remove bolts and force parts out) so putting it together is a big ???? Can you make a video or give direction ? BTW...I did your cowl trick (cutting open the sides ) and was able to repair top and bottom without a major tear down .....Thanks in advance Chris
Hi.. In this case it is a matter of removing all the bolts an taken things out piece by piece. Be careful pulling the window out of its track to not damage or break the plastic window guides.. Do one side at a time so you can use the opposite side as a reference to for reassembly...
Hi again Chris...I think you misunderstood my question. The glass and the long back plate are ALREADY out. ALL the rest is still in place on both sides. My question is how do I get the glass in ?? Or am I overcomplicating and the glass and back plate will just slide in ? Thanks again...
Hi. You will have to remove the window frames to reassemble the glass to them. Then reinstall..
My '68 came with extra pieces and parts, which included these little pink things. Now I know what they're for and I'm gonna put them in dagnabbit.
Hey Chris - your buddy Jim Smart here. What happens when the large rollers crumble? No one's reproducing them.
Thank you my car is falcon and almost everything in the guts is the same. Thanks again.
Where can I buy the rubber washers??
What rubber washers are you referring to?
Good video ! Thanks
…. Good presentation, so now show us how to replace the roller on 50's cars with the solid stud and 2 piece roller where you have to drill out the stud then press fit the stud back into the regulator all the while not crushing the plastic two piece rollers. These clip rollers are a little thick wheeled to use on the older narrow cam tram the rollers fit into.
Regarding WD40 as a possible longterm lubricant. As anyone who has lived on their boats either on fresh water or salt water quickly learn that the fish oil based WD40 belongs no where longterm where moisture is present. So what does this mean? WD40 promotes longterm rust on metal surfaces guaranteed after upon it's volatile propellants have long since evaporated. Live aboard boat owners all know this. Claims the fish oil base which makes it up is the cause. So what to use? White Lithium grease when aged begins to chalk and harden but is a good protective lubricant for areas that see constant or regular movement and can be easily regressed regularly. So not so good for a window regulator. A synthetic Bearing grease is the best but one that will not attack plastic as most Dino based greases do.
went to usedfordmustangsforsale.net and got nothing but Volvos...huh???
Sorry. Old website.. Now down.
mustangs only have coupes
Not true mustangs come in convertibles, fast backs and coupes.
