    Instead of looking at it as failure, look at it as a great success because had you not saved this money, how would you be able to move? This just changed from the challenge to a move out sinking fund 😊

    Girl, I did the same exact thing. I was doing the same challenge but i stopped cause I just didn't have enough once all the smaller numbers were filled and I didn't need the unnecessary stress that I created for myself when I didn't have enough money to fill an envelope. you have to do what is best you you and your budget

    • @martao817
      @martao817 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      You could just take money from smaller envelopes and put them together in bigger ones. For example take everything from evelope 1-10 and put it in envelope 55.
      But of course dropping the challange is also not bad! We all need to do what's the best for us 😊

    • @soulEATERofcookies
      @soulEATERofcookies 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@martao817 that’s a really good idea!!!
      ... then again if you need to use it there’s no point in the money just sitting in a envelope and going into debt yourself - it’s a weird balancing act 🤔

    • @martao817

      I actually didn’t even think of doing that, that’s a really good idea and good way of still keeping the challenge alive and just add to it when ever I can.I really didn’t need the money so I just put it in my savings. I think I will try again and use your suggestion. Thank you!

      Good point. I had a "fat" medical envelope. Went to the eye doctor for an exam, and spent $1200 for 2 pair of glasses. The envelope covered $1100. The balance is zero. Still, I did not have to charge $1200.

  • @Wildflowert

    You did no fail, priorities change. I applaud you for realizing that you will not realistically be able to continue the challenge. Everyone has their own budget and we each need to budget in ways that work for us. It’s very responsible of you to put the money towards higher priority things in your life. You will find a way to go visit your family, im sure things will fall into place.
    I myself would love to do the 100
    Envelope challenge but i as well know its not in my budget so i do smaller challenges. One day when i am able to do the 100 envelope challenge, i will. Keep up
    The good work. I wish i would’ve started budgeting at your age. You are doing great! 👍

    Buy a twin tub washer from Amazon for like $130 instead of a used traditional washer and dryer. They are cheaper to operate, lighter to move, do a great job, take up less space, and have a lot of other benefits. They don't have a dryer in the normal American way of thinking about it, but by the time they are done spinning, the clothes are nearly completely dry and finish drying in just a couple minutes.

    You are dong great and it's ok to have to change your financial goals based upon your life. That is the maturity part of savings/budgeting. Don't beat yourself up when you have to make changes, that's just part of life and being an adult. Big love to you and your family on your budgeting journey :)

    Absolutely not a fail! You were saving the money for a reason, it just turns out that you need it for a different reason, and that is perfectly fine! You have to do what is best for you and your family, no matter what anyone else thinks about your decisions, they are only YOUR decisions to make ♡ I am absolutely excited to see your moving journey, and to see your family and your budget grow and evolve ♡

    I’m so happy for you because you’re doing what’s best for you!!! And everyone’s life is different as long as you’re doing what’s best for you that’s all that matters. It’s great that you’ll move to a place that’s close for you to walk to work. Getting the moped will be good and in case it ever rains or bad weather you could always get an Uber for those days. I had driving anxiety for the longest and just got my license at 22 but people didn’t understand the fear I had in driving. You’re not failing in your budget, you’re succeeding ☺️

    You're doing so well regardless. That's what challenges are for, to use the money when you need it. I'm excited for you. You have a lot going on but you're managing.

    It makes me sad to hear the disappointment in your voice. But please remember it's not what happens to you that's important it's how you handle it. You are handling your situation in a really mature way.

    Failure is part of the road to success. Just because you didn’t succeed in this challenge, this time doesn’t mean that you aren’t going to succeed elsewhere or with another savings challenge.
    I hope your move goes well!

    It’s not the end! You can always start again when you have the means to do so. I’m not a low income earner, but I still do have debt that I’m still paying off (student loans and my car) so I need to live like I’m making half of what I make. If that makes sense lol. It sucks, but in the long run I’ll have more money to do whatever I’d like. Well I’ll be free to do whatever I’d like…if I choose to do so. Sacrifices like you’ve mentioned girl.Good luck. You’ll be fine!

    When I lived in a small apartment I had a portable washer. I would put it into a closet, out of sight, when it was not in use. I think that might be a frugal option for you.

    That’s amazing of you!!!
    A few years ago my in-laws gave us $3,000 to get out of the living situation we were in and start “renovating” our house. When they moved to Texas it was a none stop asking train or hinting when we’d be able to pay them back. Even though they told us not to worry about it. Pay them back when we could. We didn’t worry too much even with their subtle hints because they ate out so much that I knew they didn’t need it too badly. We needed our taxes and I didn’t want to pay them to struggle ourselves. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I don’t know. But we definitely won’t be borrowing money from them ever!!

    Mama, you did not fail! It breaks my heart hearing you say you failed. That couldn’t be further from the truth! Your discipline towards your family and budget is admirable. Life throws a lot of things at us sometimes, and you chose to break into that savings as opposed to using a credit card which would cause more harm than good. You made a sacrifice for yourself, husband, and daughter. You WILL see your family in the Philippines eventually… we take everything one day at a time! Keep pushing! And never, ever get down on yourself because you “failed”. You are able to move closer to your job BECAUSE of that money, not something you probably would have been able to do in the past. You saved once, you can do it again. Keep the Philippines in your sights!
