I don't really know how many folks out there truly realize the effect on the world of music this man has brought to the table . There are SO MANY bands that would not sound the way they do if it was not for Bob's existence .
Iwas stuck in my house with a broken leg and my mate andi brought round a few albums to cheer me up, one of them was zen arcade.... Fucking hell! I've never looked back
53 ain't that "old", my friend. You'll see when you get there, if you haven't already. I have a friend who's still rockin' at 74 as are many big names...McCartney (pushing 80), the Stones, Doobies, etc. One of the great things about R&R, is it keeps us young, at least at heart!
Two guys that were guideposts in my life by the time I turned 20. Bob Mould and Dave Letterman. Bob, Grant and Greg merged my need for aggression and beauty in one, tight package while Dave was, simply, the voice of my late boomer, early Gen X generation. And the bands he championed...Dave did more for great music in the '80s and beyond than anyone else not directly connected to the music business.
K, first of all.. The Bass player FUCKING rocks out on a "John Entwistle" level... Never heard that before. Two, the band occupies FOUR minutes plus of national TV air time, and that is UNREAL. And, they totally deliver. They look fucking great. They look happy. I mean, what more do you fucking want? This has got to be one of the best gigs they ever had.
He is Jon Wurster, amazing drummer. He is Superchunk's drummer, a legend. Also he is being playing with Bob for years. Jason Narducy, the bassist is awesome too. Brilliant musicians, all of them
@@pabloisusi6097 Nice summary!Love Superchunk! Jon AND Jason have actually also played with the "other" Bob, fellow musical genius: the legendary writer of circa 10 000 registered songs ( 25% of them are great) Bob Pollard of the mighty Guided By Voices! :)
I never hear Mould on the 'alt rock' radio, which is mostly shit. And that's OK, they can't handle the truth that is Bob Mould. He's the real deal. Almost everybody else fall short of the genius and true intensity.
Well said! Bob is intense, Bob is real. He feels those lyrics to the core. Too much for some people to handle. Maybe that especially goes for "alt radio".
@@alaskatoburningmen4549 So much 'alt rock' radio is 'formulaic hard' sounding, and it's really dull. I just shut it off, and hope they're gonna play some golden oldie like the Clash or something when i click it back on.
I have seen a few comments around videos of Hüsker Dü, Sugar and his solo stuff where his shows tended to be louder than larger bands with multiple guitarists like Metallica, Megadeth, etc.
Thank you, Minneapolis, for your musical contributions in the 80s. And so many years later Bob still cooks. A perfect example still to this day of how to write, record, and perform rock n roll. TH-cam, please implement a "FUCK YES" button. It would help for clips such as this one.
The tourist family from the Ohio that wandered into the line for the studio audience that night thinking it was the line for Starlight Express are still in therapy.
There was also a Rolling Stone Weekender video with a live version of that song - much better than the studio one. Unfortunately is not more available.
That too, it's entirely plausible. But this song is not just a reminder of Dag Nasty. It sounds like it could have been of PunkRockAcademyFightSong, too.
Wow, Bob looked 20 in the 1991 video for "It's Too Late" and now he looks 70! Sad to see how much he's aged, but beyond the juxtaposition... he rocks harder and louder than ever! We need more music like this today.
Sad? Bullshit, he looked worse in the Hüsker Dü days and is better in shape now than a lot of dead punk rockers from the 80ties. They are all gone but Bob is still here. Let´s see if you´re still rocking out when you´re in your 60ties. I guess not! Grow up dude, you will grow old sooner as you think and guess what: you´re gonna die.
More talent in those 3 musicians than ANYTHING on top 40 radio today.
Amen.
👍
Greatest living singer/songwriter PERIOD!

WALL OF SOUND, Homes, WALL OF SOUND
Truth

I like that Bob careens around the stage at 53 the exact same way he did at 23.
he’s certainly aged very well and healthily.

Jesus they sound good
Perfect comment. And even better responses! Nobody complaining about anything! Just like 29 likes and now my 30th👍🏼
That's because they are 😃😃👍👍👍
this dude is twice as old as bands my age and rocks way fucking harder love this man
Me tooooooooooooo!

I have campaigned for Dave to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the non performer category and you absolutely nailed the reasons why.
Can we also acknowledge how fucking amazing Bob Mould is to.let Jason take the solo in Tomorrow Morning?
K, first of all.. The Bass player FUCKING rocks out on a "John Entwistle" level... Never heard that before.

Bob always delivers the goods.
Bob (Husker Du) inspired me pickup the guitar back in '86.
Bob and husker du are awesome!!
Love that bass solo. And they bring the thunder as always
If I ever learned to play a guitar, I would like to play as well as Bob Mould...
this is FIRE
Bob totally rips the place apart!
That was incredibly TIGHT.
That moment when you realize Jon Wurster is a complete badass.
This is why you have to see him live
Drummer's SO fucking happy! Playing with Mr. Mould must be one of the best gigs in the world.

FACTS!!!!!!!
always floors me every time I hear him
I have seen a few comments around videos of Hüsker Dü, Sugar and his solo stuff where his shows tended to be louder than larger bands with multiple guitarists like Metallica, Megadeth, etc.
Whenever I saw him Live, He turned the guitar 🎸 way UP on stage and in the mix!!
Great vocal. Nobody mentions his vocal.
I love his voice, but his vocals are really impressive in this live perfomance
Bob!!!!

Ha,ha,ha!
Just saw Bob play here in Dallas last night...he's better and better every year!!
Supposedly they were so loud, dust was coming out of the ceiling
Yes it's true story, they blew the dust
Hell YEAH!!!!!
Stars fell out the firmament
This passed me by, never seen it, but an awesome performance. Proper hardcore alt-rock 😎
Reminds me of his days with Sugar!
That was incredible!
A good bass solo!!
Just great!!
2024 - Absolutely double top knacker!!!!
Basically a blitzkrieg in the studio. Loved it!
Monstruos 🔥🔥🔥
Bob rules !
Holy shit!!!!
The Best.
Isn’t this the performance where they knocked all the dust off the rafters?
1992 Bob meets 1982 Bob in 2015
F-bomb at 3:13.
Why does everyone always forget to shake Jon's hand? I feel bad for the poor SOB. Bad enough he's so underrated.
Why do I keep recalling they played Fire in the City too?
There was also a Rolling Stone Weekender video with a live version of that song - much better than the studio one. Unfortunately is not more available.
holy f***
Fuck yea!
The audience had know idea.....
Philly Boy Roy on the kit!

@@gustavmarie Love this comment.
Either Paul or Dave had great taste in music.
BASS SOLO!
Fuck it! Just getting back to it. A DUDE!
The thumbs down I gave was an accident that I can’t figure out how to undo.
And Bob steps back and lets Jason rip out a bass solo.
Jason says he told Bob "people want to hear you play the solo, not me" but Bob insisted. Great moment all around.
@@jyutzler Nice.
It's touching how much Bob respects Jon and Jason.
wow that second song sounds like husker du. i know its the same guy but his solo stuff doesnt really sound like the huskers to me.
It all took more of an alt rock turn from sometime during Candy Apple Grey - Copper Blue, but he still plays the hell out of punk rock.
I see what you mean.
eyyabhhhh
Jason Narducy for the win!

I for one don't care what he looks like, he could look like Cookie Monster and it wouldn't matter.
I'm just worried that kids won't think this style of music is cool if he looks like "grandpa rocking out" now
The ones that matter won't care. It'll reach those it needs to reach, sight unseen. Don't worry.

Nothin too subtle about that shit is there?
you can really hear how much Green Day aped his sound on "Tomorrow Morning"
mxsxkxcrc but that song isn't very old
@@benjeffrey7577but the sound has been around since the early 80's and Green Day without a doubt leaned heavily on Husker Du for influence.
Dave was singing off mic off to the side. I have no doubt. Listen to how hoarse he is when the song is over.
Destruction.
Better than Husker, imo
You're not wrong.
More even anyway, if not better.
Better produced anyway. SST era Husker albums need to be remastered with this kind of production.
Bob rocks
BOB!!!
