    About this video 👇
    In this I have explained about topic Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT) also known Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) or Petetrant Testing (PT).
    As the name implies, a liquid called penetrant is used for detecting cracks, porosity, fractures and other surface flaws which are open to surface of the object to be tested.
    Both ferrous and non-ferrous metals surface defecta can be detected by liquid penetrant testing. It can be used on non porous and non-matallic materials like plastics, ceramics and glass effectively.
    The working principle of liquid penetrant testing depends upon surface tension and and capillary action of the lequid.
    Surface tension depends upon the cohesive force between the molecules, whereas the capillary action is phenomenon of rise or fall of the liquid penetrant in the flaws.
    If we talk about the working of LPT so in this case penetrant may be applied to specimen by using spraying, dipping or brushing. After sufficient dwell time the excessive penetrant is removed and then developer is applied which draws the penetrant out of the flaw. In case when UV light is made to fall on the surface, the drawn penetrant molecules absorb the UV light 💡 and excite the higher energy level. Which returning to it's original or lower energy ⚡level and they emit light 💡which appears bright on the dim background indicating the flaw clearly. The advantages, disadvantages and applications of liquid penetrant testing also included in this video.

    Can we perform this method on both porous and non porous materials

    • @RoyalMechnoz
      @RoyalMechnoz  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, LPT is applicable on non porous materials. In case of porous or Rough surfaces there is difficulty in LPT defect detection as the penetrant may stuck in porous surface and causes difficulty in defect detection.
      Hope this is helpful🤗and solve your query 🙏
