Remembering thirty years. A Red Lore Amazon is a joy to have on your life. His name was Nicky and I had to have him put to sleep due to cancer. There isn't one day that I do not miss him talking, playing catch, hugs, kisses and saying " I Love you." The love a bird has is very different from a dog or a cat. Almost like having a child. Some day I might have another bird, but for now I just want to hold on to my memories of 30 years with my favorite companion, my friend, Nicki ❤️

Pebbles was critically ill at one point and came back calmer. I don't know when that was.

It's so rewarding when parrot and person are matched up. My rescue Grey still says, "Goodbye, Ava. We're sorry, Ava.", which is what I believe she heard when her people had to give her up, for whatever reason. To me, she says, "I love you!"

Animals know whether you are a safe person, a good person. Their instincts are better than ours. This guy is one of the good ones. I am so happy for Oscar. What a really soul she is.
My highly intelligent and adorable Blue Heeler x Border Collie, Buster, only bit one person in his life, who I later found out was a very bad person. So yes, animals can tell if you are a safe and good person, for sure.

I my God, she said I love you…too. It was the too that makes that very special. I don’t know how people think that animals aren’t sentient. These parrots understand context otherwise she would not have said I love you… Too!
Her robotic voice is the same voice that many cockatos have when they have been in previous shitty situations. Barney the west coast Cockatoo from Canada‘s west coast obviously does the same thing. Many other cockatoos do it it is like it’s almost a protection measurement that they recite this stuff in a completely different voice and often the behaviour that accompanies it is angry or stressed. I’m so glad that I found your channel! Oh! But pigeons! Would you have thunk? Me neither. Can sleep on your chest for an hour, cuddled up under a blanket while you sit in a chair in the evening. Then "wakes up" and does a lot of feather preening first. Next it is time for a poop and for a snack.
(I have one who is often so much like a particular quaker parrot I used to have, it's amazing. I had two of those, before, feral rescues that couldn't be released, so I adopted them.)
I could not agree more. I have an umbrella cockatoo who has been in my life since he was 2 months old. He is 23 years old now and I can't tell you how much I look forward to cuddling him when I come home from work.
I highly commend you for taking in this bird and giving him a great life!! It’s not easy to raise a cockatoo, they are like children- huge commitment, but your bird is paying you back in the bond that you two have! (SO beautiful!) People who rescue people/animals are the true heroes in this world!! ❤️ you and your bird!!!

When I was a kid, many of my neighbors had me feed their animals whenever they were away. One family had a cockatoo. I tried to teach him to say inappropriate words and phrases. I don't think he ever learned them though. Good thing or they might have been greeted with SHOCKING remarks for a lifetime! I've matured (a little) since then.

THAT Cockatoo is IDENTICAL to one in a Pet Shop several years ago.
♂️Person who originally owned Was forced to get rid of ?Him? because he'd to go into a Care Home & NOT Allowed to take the Bird with him.
Pet shop owner said °°WATCH Him - He'll BITE you. I asked what bird's name °OSCAR !° Asked if I could treat him with a Monkey Nut - Boss said °YES - but if you Get Bitten DON'T blame me !°
Went to Oscar's cage, He Screeched like MAD, calmed down when spoken to then Gently
took Nut from my mouth.
After which He went to Food bowl, ate some food, came up side of cage Tried GENTLY to Grab
My hand - Then Regurgitated the food Onto that hand. Boss said °The Dirty Bugger- Being SICK on your hand ! When I explained °He's NOT being DIRTY - but now accepts me as a Friend & after this - I'll be able to Do almost ANYTHING with Him. Asked Boss if I could go into his shop until Oscar went to His New Home (Approximately 6 Weeks time) Yes Ok !
By the end of 6 Weeks Oscar let me Spray him lightly, Stroke under His Wings Etc & on last day of Him being in the Shop (Closing Time) asked Boss if he'd open Cage door & let me Stroke Oscar for the last time As soon as Cage door was opened, Oscar Flew onto my chest, Snuggled up to me & that was the Grand Finale ! Boss remarked °I've NEVER seen Anything like THAT all the years I've dealt with birds. You got Away with almost everything - the SOD bit me when I went to Feed it !
