Great race, Paddington is reminding me of Giants Causeway. I get the feeling he will pull out more when the weight for age allowance drops later in the season. Emily enhanced her Arc claims with a great run giving weight away at a distance short of her best.
Hats off to Aiden o Brien the greatest trainer, who's not afraid to put his horses untried at distances. Fine race between them. I hope both horses collect more group 1 races this season.
Paddington was the first 3YO colt since Saddler's Wells in 1984 to complete the Irish 2000 Guineas/Coral-Eclipse Stakes double, and he was the first 3YO colt since Giant's Causeway in 2000 to complete the St James's Palace Stakes/Coral-Eclipse Stakes double.
Paddington is a rapidly improving star. From winning a handicap race in March to three Group Ones in a trot and defeating Emily Upjohn is absolutely remarkable. Congrats to Ryan and Aidan! The lads will have a tough time sorting out races for Paddington, Auguste Rodin and Luxemborgh. Well done to the Coolmore team!
@@ronaldparsons2131 I think there's been better than him, he's good, but it always helps when you are sitting on good horses, I believe that the Jockeys now are very good but definitely not as good as in past eras.
@@michaelflynn5123 i didn't know that you trained Paddington and i think that O'Brien knows more about horse racing then you mate remember Yeats that ran in the derby as you well know he got it to win 4 ascot gold cups
Disappointing turnout for a race of this value and history. What is Sandown doing to promote it? This race was a real highlight along with the KG at Ascot. Both seem to be on the downgrade
@Randygreaves Very possibly? I think she's a filly who needs a little cover, she was a little unsettled early on, these small fields are always a little dodgy.
@@kevinmunday6263 Doubtful, they have Augustine Rodin and Luxembourg lined up for the King George, I think they are now dropping Paddington back down for the Sussex Stakes.
I’m personally really disappointed in the ride from Buick on Emily, I thought the fact they left the hood off they were gonna ride her handier and make plenty of use of her in the end the they let the fastest horse get first run.
The more you watch Paddington the more you see the Monjeu family side of him with his head carage.Emily upjohn has received 2 awful rides from Dettori and now Buick. If Moore was on her the result would have been different. Come the Arc please JG put a jockey on her that can ride cause them 2 are useless now

Dubai Honour looked very good here in Australia earlier in the year but finished in the next postcode in this race.

Beautiful fight. Let's see what Paddington can do on 2400m against Ace Impact, Blue Rose Cen, and Auguste Rodin...
Another rock of gilbralar
Small Field but cracking Race. First and 2nd in different class. Emily Upjohn looked like she needed 12 furlongs

Best horse won Obrien a genius!!
Best horse at the weights*
Where u dettori
Why doesn’t Gosden and Godolphin as well, run pacemakers in these races?
They should. 4 horse races are embarrassing. Especially group 1’s. Tactics are thrown out the window
Best horse and greatest jockey ever
Best horse on the day but definitely not the greatest jockey ever by long way.
You are the greatest buffoon ever.
@@nightowl7459 not by a long way now is it,Lester piggot that's it, Dettori not in top five

4 runners..., what a disgrace.
Paddington is getting better and better with every run and I can see him winning the arc
Only way he would stay 12 furlongs ! Would be in a horse box ! Don’t tell obrien he probably thinks he is an. Ascot gold cup horse
Nah this distance suits him perfectly.Keep him 1m 2f and under

I’ve never liked weight for age and fillies allowances in group 1s, You can never truly find out who the best horse in the race is.
3 year olds at this time of year have a massive advantage at the weights.
History shows that.
The 12 lbs made the difference. 3-y-os usually fare well in this race. Emily Upjohn has lost nothing in defeat.
7 lbs for the second
7 lbs no?
Weight allowance is 7lbs for Paddington when facing a 4yo filly - 14lbs if it was a 4yo colt.
No horse in training would give him 7,or 14lbs. at 8 to 12f though Horizons fans might disagree
Sorry l meant equinox
Imagine where Australian “champion” Anamoe would have finished in this?
Thought I'd find you here. Those of us without parochial blinkers know where Anamoe would be.

I really think if the jockey on Emily upjohn had sat next to Ryan Moore and not behind it would have been a different race

Emily upjohn wears blinkers and when a horse wears headgear it's because they have a mind of there own
Will be interesting to see if They take eachother on over 12 furlongs in the King George but don't Spose They will tho ??
