Funny, the Sorted lads were doing global sauces last week & had an American apple sauce on. I thought boil it down to a caramel & use it in an apple tart Tatin. May make a larger batch & do your lovely pigs in blankets & a tart Tatin for pudd. PS, I always make heaps more pigs in blankets, as a pigs in blankets, stuffing & redcurrant jelly buttie is just the thing for Boxing Day breakfast. 🤤🍎🐖
Yes, in the USA a "pig in blanket" is a breakfast sausage in pastry, usually biscuit dough. Jimmy Dean pre-cooked sausages plus the biscuit dough that comes in a tube make them very easy to make in quantity. You can put a little jam in there, too. Edit: Oops, a "biscuit" here is not like a biscuit there, either. "Let's call the whole thing off" as they said.
From the USA. I make these: Pigs in a Blanket INGREDIENTS 2 cans (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Rolls (8 Count) 48 cocktail-size smoked link sausages or hot dogs (from two 14-oz packages) INSTRUCTIONS 1 Heat oven to 375°F. Unroll both cans of the dough; separate into 16 triangles. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 narrow triangles. 2 Place sausage on shortest side of each triangle. Roll up each, starting at shortest side of triangle and rolling to opposite point; place point side down on 2 ungreased cookie sheets. 3 Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown, switching position of cookie sheets halfway through baking. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. Serve warm.
Mmmm...Poppy, they look delish! I was a vegetarian, but after Covid I started to crave meats in my diet again🤷 The apple caramel w/ pork is fab comfort food for the holidays 💛
In Canada and the USA, yes the pigs in blankets are sausages (usually hot dog weiners rather than proper herby sausages) wrapped in pastry (can vary between croissant and puff pastry like mentioned). That being said, the sausages are cut into bits and wrapped individually prior to cooking in the oven
IN AUSTRALIA A SAUSAGE WRAPPED IN PASTRY IS A SAUSAGE ROLL AND A SAUSAGE WRAPPED IN BACON IS A PIGS IN A BLANKET , HAVE A VERY VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS POPPY AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR , FROM DAVID AT GLENORE GROVE QLD AUSTRALIA.
Want the whole plate. In US pigs in blankets are sausage wrapped in pastry or store-bought croissant rolls (that come in a tube). Or for breakfast cooked sausage wrapped in a fluffy pancake.
This looks delicious! Thank you Poppy! Really love getting this kind of inspiration from you, and glad to see you doing something different! I would love more like this!
Pigs in blankets in the states could also refer to sausage wrapped in a pancake. Poppy, this looks delish, any other sausage recommendations for this dish?
Come On Poppy, in america as you tried to explain a sausage in patry of fillo, isn`t that a sausage roll! or maybe it`s not! I think wrapping the sausage in bacon then in pastry or fillo it would be pigs in blanket sausage roll what do you ? novel eh. Just a note, I may of got a cocktail stick and dunked the sausages into the sauce, rather than brush it on, covering the whole "pig". I`m gonna try this! saucy or WHAT!!! a sausage is not just a sausage, when Poppy Cooks.
I have to say it, regardless of it being inappropriate. This content could easily be on onlyfans, wouldnt even need to change much, just slightly more innuendo, slightly less clothes.
I think this was one of the less innuendo-worthy episodes. Poppy has almost crossed the line (wherever it is) a few times. Frankly, I think you do insult her, inappropriately, because she is a vibrant and spirited young woman who says what she's thinking, and she is nothing less than delightful. And she knows how to cook. I've never been to OnlyFans, but my impression from the news is that it's sleazy trash. This is not.
@@WastrelWay that's a fair response, as it was indeed somewhat disrespectful, so saying there was no ill intent, though true, is a fairly moot point. I do think Poppy seems like a wonderful human, smart, skilled, great sense of humour. One that most should feel honoured to know in person. I too have never actually used OF, and think your summery is probably accurate, though of course people are free to do as they please.
"i don't think thats enough sausage for one person"
Poppy, size queen 😂
2:00 In Britain we calls that a "sausage roll". Gregg's sell them too, though I am not sure that's puff pastry.
i was gona say greggs sell millions of them a week! 🤣😂

I'm here for the food and the Poppy Entendres. It's like watching an episode of Carry On Cooking.

How long do you think the glaze would last in the fridge? Seems like a good thing to do prior to Xmas day to be extra lazy :D
Hard to see in the video, how much are you reducing the litre of apple juice? Down to half? Quarter?
Is a chipolata the same as a rasher or a stop of bacon?
A chipolata is a smaller sausage

You could say that about literally anything.
