I think you're the only TH-camr I know to never change the video style...from the jokes to the videography itself. Thanks for staying true to brand for all these years
LOL! The year I graduated highschool a band called King Missile put out a song every parent wanted banned... Detachable "Weiner"... Except Weiner wasn't in the song. I subbed for p*#is to make it G rated for Chef John
PRO TIP: Instead of struggling with the triangles and their off-cuts, the brand Chef John alluded to does make croissant dough that isn't scored. It makes it super easy to use for other purposes like this or as a crust in a sheet pan recipe.
You could easily sub out for the pepperoni thin sliced salami or prosciutto. Make some warm cheese sauce for dipping. This would be great for the 4th, as we have our kids and significant others and their friends up to the cabin. Thinking out loud here, but SO saving this video!
Chef John, you are a genius. But I have just a tip: if you don’t separate the triangles in the first place, you can just cut strips without having to do pastry Frankenstein.
Chef John, is not only an excellent chef but he is absolutely entertaining/hilarious! Thank you Chef John, I had a few good laughs in this video, lol. We will be making these for the Big game!
Made this tonight. I used bacon bits instead of sesame seeds and they stuck fairly well to the melted butter. Took less time to bake and was delicious!
These are a perennial party favorite. I'm asked to make these as part of our Christmas celebration. I use a little Dijon mustard on the inside of the wrap and sprinkle Parmesan and everything bagel seasoning on top.
You can elevate the snack to yet another level by painting the inside of the dough with your favorite jarred tomato sauce. That will add another flavor level and make the taste more interesting.
A few dipping sauce suggestions. I like Catsup. So strait Catsup or half and half Catsup/Mayo. A more spicy mix Cocktail sauce. Or maybe Sour Cream or better yet French Onion Sour Cream. The possibilities are endless. Pairs well with appetizers items as a spread. Chips, pretzels cheese sticks what ever.
Been doing this for years, sans pepperoni. I use the crescent roll sheet and a pizza cutter. I also prefer to use cheddar cocktail smokies, if you can still find them.
2:36 - That was one of the best "you are, after all, the X of Y" I've seen from this channel. And I DO think I HAVE seen enough Chef John videos to get a feel for HOW he narrates is videos. And yes, my time code winds it back a few seconds to get the full context. That's just how I pre-roll. Sometimes I get a comment on my time code comments giving a more precise time for the thing. Yeah, it saves the reader maybe 20 seconds (ten if you watch at 2x like I prefer to do), but the quote itself isn't the whole thing! Context matters.
Did chef John just say his rhyme referencing an English artist if he ment the banksy I know then I applaud you for bringing our little island into your kitchen 👌👍
You can buy crescent roll dough as a single sheet rather than cut into triangles. Makes it a bit easier to work with as the whole thing cuts up nicely into rectangles instead of splicing the little triangle leftover bits. You could also skip the wieners and wrap the pepperoni around short pieces of mozzarella.
a bit labor intensive, but these would be great for a small dinner party! can catch the li'l smokies on sale from time to time - they freeze well and defrost pretty quick. sliced pepperoooni is affordable as well.
I got into an argument with my daughter just the other day on pigs in a blanket. While growing up, pigs in a blanket were sausages wrapped in pancakes, while wrapped hotdogs were Weiner wraps.
I made pigs in a blanket with pepperoni sticks cut into chunks and covered in dough and they turned out amazing. So if you don't want to double-wrap, just cut up some pepperoni sticks!
I make these with puff pastry where I cut the square of dough into halfs and wrap them around the sausages, however, I might try to cut them into 4 equal parts to have less of the dough and more sausages 😊
They actually sell the croissant dough in one solid rectangular sheet (it makes a great base for a pizza in my experience), which would be better for this than trying to finagle regular rectangular strips out of misshapen triangles.
I don't care for cocktail weenies , I lay out canned Vienna sausages on a sheet pan in the freezer to firm them up for 15 -20 minutes & roll them up, more flavor
FYI- I found recently that they make *that* dough in just a plain sheet you can cut however you want. I haven't seen it very many places, but it's out there. (I've always used the triangles and had to deal with the weird geometry when splitting it up in the past. And now that I see that's what Chef John's using I feel good in my choice 😊)
I think you're the only TH-camr I know to never change the video style...from the jokes to the videography itself. Thanks for staying true to brand for all these years
i just found a video of his that doesnt have this format and it was like 16 years old. for caramel chicken
You cannot improve perfection ⭐️
After all he is the Ludwig Von Drake, of keeping Food Wishes so great.
If it ain't broke don't fix it 😂
‘Pigs in a Tubetop’ and ‘Total Weiner Dislocation’ are both awesome band names. Well played, Chef. Well played.
XD

Chef John is easily one of the most consistent cooking TH-cam personalities, especially when it comes to presentation!
After all, you are the King of the Banquet with your Pigs In A Blanket!
When my younger son was small, he called these, "puppies in sleeping bags." They've been called that in my house ever since! 😂
Awww that’s too cute! Hahaha! 😂
PRO TIP: Instead of struggling with the triangles and their off-cuts, the brand Chef John alluded to does make croissant dough that isn't scored. It makes it super easy to use for other purposes like this or as a crust in a sheet pan recipe.
Just wrap the pigs in a blanket, in a blanket, but remember to rap it “round the outside, round the outside, round the outside”
😂 heard it as I read it.
You’re welcome, 😂🤣
Pig pups
You have to say it three times😂
After watching this channel for nearly 10 years, I just gotta say, this is the most impressive thing I've ever seen.
OMG, "Weiner dislocation" had me cracking up!😂
Anyone who critisizes the amount of dough tell them...'It's pigs in a blanket not pigs in a sleeping bag!' We have always cut our dough into strips.
Chef John makes the best cooking content on TH-cam. Informative, quick, entertaining, relaxing. Perfection.
In the UK pigs in blankets are cocktail sausages wrapped in bacon, but yours look delicious too
Wow! Cocktail sausages wrapped in bacon and wrapped in pepperoni! What a great idea!
I've made those and topped them with brown sugar and a dry rub blend.
Yeah! I actually have a recipe from Mary Berry, similar to that!
From date night to weekday meals to holiday feasts to game day apps, Chef John has us covered. I appreciate the hard work!
Piglets in a petticoat!
You are the Trevon Diggs of your Pepperoni Pigs.
still too soon...
"And to get started..
..get started"
Pigs in a tube top FTW
The dough for these is also available as a sheet which might be a little easier to work with.
Oh yeah! Great idea!
You could easily sub out for the pepperoni thin sliced salami or prosciutto. Make some warm cheese sauce for dipping. This would be great for the 4th, as we have our kids and significant others and their friends up to the cabin. Thinking out loud here, but SO saving this video!
Love this! And because I’m an overgrown child, I spit my drink out at the “total wiener dislocation” 😂
i love to wrap meat in quilts, blankets, and duvets then serve them to my friends during the big games
Re-grip and complete the dip. Classic Chef John and also solid lifetime advice.
Everything Bagel seasoning is my recommendation
Chef John, you are a genius. But I have just a tip: if you don’t separate the triangles in the first place, you can just cut strips without having to do pastry Frankenstein.
And you can use lil smokies with cheese in them
Chef John, you always come-up with the Best recipes!
Chef John, is not only an excellent chef but he is absolutely entertaining/hilarious! Thank you Chef John, I had a few good laughs in this video, lol. We will be making these for the Big game!
Why, did you put a needless comma there?
Your, grade 2 English teacher would be very disappointed in you.
I'm, just kidding. Have, a good night.
Chef, you're Amazing! Loved you long time! 🥰
Dude, I love you!! How do you have a soothing way and be funny at the same time??
These would not last fifteen minutes among my friends.
Facts! I would need to make at least two trays of this and probably three
These would not last five minutes with me alone in my kitchen 💀
Yeahhhh.... why would I let my friends know that I was making these ?
Why would you eat them so slowly?
That wouldn’t last 15 minutes around me lol
Love the recipe and the fun comments.
He brought out the cayenne and I breathed an audible sigh of relief.
Chef John you're my hero
I wholeheartedly recommend getting the ones with the cheese in there! So delicious
So easy yet so tasty. Thanks Chef

good with breakfast sausage too !!
Love your videos and your channel! Thanks for all the wonderful recipes! 😊

Or mustard maybe?
Another good idea!@@krissi31
I used to play bass for Total Weiner Dislocation...
Fantastic
@nickmorgan19457 the owner of the double Dave's pizza we played at didn't think it was that fantastic
Pepperoni Pig is the name of my cat! 😸
Love the Dip Tipp! 😄👍
My sister and I make crescent roll dogs when we don't feel like fixing dinner, so I'm definitely going to try adding sesame seeds next time. 👀
They look amazing !

Awesome idea!
Will be trying this
Tube top pepperoni pigs, cute!
I support your decision to skimp on the dough. This had one of my favorite rhymes, too.
That looks like a great idea.
Blessings blessings always☝🏼💯🙏 Great show ☝🏼💯✋🌟🌟🌟❤️
These would be great for the big football game this weekend!!! Go Lions!!!!
You are correct @bassontrebble. I use these sheets to make pocket sandwiches with leftover sloppy joe mix.
honestly skinless franks are the best ones
We will add these to our
Fu finger food list♥️
These look really good especially on a game day
Double dip with other tip
These look amazing. Over the top or Superbowl!!
Setting a reminder to pick up the ingredients to make these for an event on Feb. 11.
Wowee! thanks
Great idea. Maybe wrap them with other things like, smoked ham or pastrami.
Pigs in a sheet & blanket 😃🔥🔥🔥
Nice!
This is a nice twist!
Been doing this for years, sans pepperoni. I use the crescent roll sheet and a pizza cutter. I also prefer to use cheddar cocktail smokies, if you can still find them.
Pigs in a Tube Top ! 😂🤣😆
keep up hard work bro on your channel hope to see more
I do absolutely wish you had titled this Pigs in a Tub Top. 🔥

A new recipe to try
"You are, after all, the Banksy pf how much dough your franks see!"
🤣 I love your puns, Chef!
Did chef John just say his rhyme referencing an English artist
if he ment the banksy I know then I applaud you for bringing our little island into your kitchen 👌👍
Those sausages are on the border between disfigured and artistic shapes. I was thinking more on the latter side
Oh yeah, this is the pigception in a blanket I was hoping for.

This looks like heartburn in a blanket, but I am here for it 😂😋
Looks yummiest to me! 😋
We are, after all, the comanders in chief of how to wrap our beef. (I know it's pork. Let me be great!)
You can use salami, summer sausage, or any tubed, cured, and very thinly sliced meat that you can roll.
We will add these to our
Fu finger food list️
Pigs in a Tubetop is a cool name for a band.
I made pigs in a blanket with pepperoni sticks cut into chunks and covered in dough and they turned out amazing. So if you don't want to double-wrap, just cut up some pepperoni sticks!

Yummy
You can probably unroll the pastry without tearing into triangles. Comes out as a big rectangle.
They actually sell the croissant dough in one solid rectangular sheet (it makes a great base for a pizza in my experience), which would be better for this than trying to finagle regular rectangular strips out of misshapen triangles.
well i guess ill go head and make these
And for those who live in Texas, these are *actual* chives. Not green onions/scallions (what you call chives).
With the pepperoni, a marinara could make a nice dipping sauce
I don't care for cocktail weenies , I lay out canned Vienna sausages on a sheet pan in the freezer to firm them up for 15 -20 minutes & roll them up, more flavor
Nigella seeds are a good alternative to sesame
"Pigs in a tubetop" goes hard, I cannot lie
FYI- I found recently that they make *that* dough in just a plain sheet you can cut however you want. I haven't seen it very many places, but it's out there. (I've always used the triangles and had to deal with the weird geometry when splitting it up in the past. And now that I see that's what Chef John's using I feel good in my choice 😊)
Would buying the uncut crescent roll sheets make this easier or harder?
It will make them kosher at the very least
Who else likes more pastry? I like them mostly covered with just the ends out
I never knew this was a recipe and had it's own name
