  • Maintenance on a Dairy Farm - This week we are repairing manure augers that move manure from our forestall pens to our manure handling building.
    **COWS & CO CREAMERY: If you're interested in placing a CHEESE order, they do ship nationwide. They currently are unable to ship gelato. The link is included below!

    its hard to keep coming up with new interesting content , but you do ! Equipment maint and preventive maint is pretty interesting. Those knee pads with tire like tread really help me. Thanks

    I worked on a large Dairy a number of years ago and one job I had that I hated was keeping Ally scrapers going

    Good design for cross transfer of manure. I'd probably go with that too.

    I'm a firm believer in anti-seize lubricant, especially in a wet environment. It makes things a lot easier when you have to take the thing apart again.

      Hopefully the bolts are all Stainless Steel. Even the green steel pieces would be nice if SS. Of coarse the price ...??

    Another good one, Piet. I have a much better idea of how you handle manure.

    Do you have to worry about methane gas when you are welding where the waste goes?

    How often do the augers wear out from the sand in the manure; do the vanes eer wear down from the friction?

    • @pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047
      @pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of the augers are still original, it's usually the bolt holes on the ends that get worn out. We're able to replace the ends of the augers if the bolt holes are bad and continue to use the auger.

    I can definitely see why that would be your least favorite job on the farm Piet. Best wishes, Deb

    Do you get those replacement auger ends from mclanahan or aftermarket?
