- Flora Curtis completed an MPhil in History at Cambridge before embarking on a careers as an environmental law barrister with leading practitioners 39 Essex Chambers. In the course of this recording she outlines how her background and interests prepared her to become a leading specialist in this area of law, she offers advice to students looking to do the same as well as general tips on succeeding at pupillage interviews and building a successful profile to attract the interest of chambers. In particular she also helpfully identifies those issues which will be driving legal activities over the next five years.
As part of staying in touch and up to date with what's occurring Flora suggested a group of young lawyers of which she is a deputy chair, namely, Legal Voices for the Future. This group holds regular monthly knowledge sessions in which students can take part and they have also recorded sessions which they make available online at Legal Voices for the Future - TH-cam. These include Human Rights and Climate Change, Climate Finance, and Getting to Grips with ESG.
These events are also great opportunities to network…crucially important for a career at the Bar.
