- It is really starting to feel like autumn in the vegetable garden but the season isn't over! There is still time to sow and grow your own vegetables to squeeze the most out of your allotments and gardens before the first frost!
The temperatures are falling and it's time to tame some of the explosive growth we've had in the vegetable garden throughout September. Grab a cuppa and spend the afternoon with me in my small garden in Ireland.

Hi Laura, great to see your onions that you started from seed, I had an awesome harvest this year with about 150 onions that are now on my curing rack. I just grab them every time I cook. Like you I just love onions and garlic so much. This weekend I am going to get some garlic bulbs in my beds to over winter. I look forward to seeing the progress of your onions 🌰. You cannot beat home grown vegetables, they truly are the best 👍 😀 look forward to your next video 😀
Hey Julie, hope you are keeping well! The onions are little cuties aren't they, I'm obsessed 🤭! If only I had the space for 150 to grow, wow though 150 is an achievement and I imagine they will see you through for the next 6 months at least!! 🧅🧅
I did the garlic last year from a supermarket bulb. They got really bad rust and I think I picked them a bit early. With the garden revamp I'm not sure I have a spare for it just yet 😅 so I feel so jealous of everyone planting their garlic!

Hey Cindy so lovely to hear from you, I hope you are keeping well!! 🤗 aren't the onions so cute! I see lots of people using onion sets but they have difficulty with then bolting come spring time 🤷♀️ so opted for seeds!! The plans for your garlic sound amazing I am feeling very jealous 😅 with all the beds moving I don't know where I'd plant it! I did get to taste test elephant garlic this year and I loved it, it does take two years to grow though ⏰️ 👀 take care till next time 💖 🤗

The garden bones are showing now…your revamp is so fun to watch progress. I must have had a screw loose when I planted my celery, I have more than we can use. I saw one of your subs talk about juicing…. I do love apple, celery carrot juice….so I need to do that.

Garden bone 😆 that made me giggle Robin! A screw loose 😅🤣 I didn't hear that saying in a very long time! Celery is a really underated crop!! Janet was telling us all about her juicing 🥰 I was thinking apple would go nicely too! I googled, and the celery is meant to be fantastic for reducing inflammation in the body! I am going to give it a try, I only have a smoothie blender though so I must invest in a cheese cloth or muslin so I can strain it! Have a lovely day Robin and I'll catch up with you soon! 💖🌱🤗

Autumn is the best time of year!! 🍂 I have frozen two big bags of celery Corrine! All you do is dice it up, blanch for a couple of mins, leave dry, and freeze! It won't be the same as fresh but will be perfect for soups and stews 🍲👌 it should hold up nicely for at least 12 months! I cook it from frozen and tip a bit into the pan whenever I need it! 🙃🌱
Sounds great will give it a go next year have grown celery but it's been stringy think I didn't keep it well watered thanks laura

Oh hey there youtube bestie 👋👋 I changed my upload day, I really enjoyed Sunday as my upload day but I felt like I didn't have any me time 🤭🤣 I was getting really tired so now I do a bit each day after work and now trying Wednesday's as my new day 🤗😅 I'll get better at it!!!
I hear you, I went from Wednesday to Saturday/Sunday as my upload day. It comes around sooooo quickly.

I agree, first year sticking all sorts in, 2nd year a more knowing approach. What we eat the most of, as to how much we should grow of each.
Me time is never underestimated, much needed.
All this growing, tending to, cultivating, preserving and cooking is a full time job 😂
I’ve just done a batch cook of sourdough waffles, now in the freezer to pop in the toaster as and when required. Also a raspberry sauce, so easy but delicious with the waffles.
Phew I need a sleep and it’s only 11.30 😂😂
Your lettuce look amazing, would say I did mine a little late so a bit of a gap here on the lettuce front.

Apple said yesterday there is nothing wrong with my phone 😊 which is great. I’ve returned the mic to Amazon and a replacement is due today 😊 oh how I’m crossing everything to get this up and running very soon.
Not being down the plot so much, I’m paying attention to the making of my videos. I see how my voice isn’t so clear a lot of the time… waffle waffle 😂 the only way is up 😊😊

Your onions look great, I wasn’t sure what to do with mine yet. Grown from seed, when to put out etc. my sets last year were not a success so like you trying again from seed.

😂😂 does it interfere with the TV. Yes it is cooler for sure especially in the morning. Time to clear up for sure but so exciting for new plantings and seedling starts. The onions should be fine but you could always cover them too I would think. Fabulous update as always and just shows a tiny garden can be a very productive garden ❤. Haha Ali what are you like! 🤣 well actually when Roo was a pup I put her outside to clean up her accident in the house and well she was annoyed being out in the rain...so decided to bite through the cable that connects the dish to the house! We stream most of things and haven't used it years! It's a super ugly hanging device but it works perfectly, and the cats can't get at the birds either, they can only admire from the high walls!!

Hey Nanou 👋 arent the onions the sweetest 🫶🧅! I thought the bird feeder was a little spendy at 60 euros but it keeps the crows and squirrels out so the smaller birds can get in and be safe! 🥰 hopefully it last a few years!
The rocket should take 40 days or so to mature. Not sure where your plot is in the UK (North/south) but we don't get our first frosts typically till around a week before Christmas!! Take care and talk soon! 🤗💖
We are in the Chilterns in Buckinghamshire. I think our first frost date is the first week in December. ❤

I'm loving your enthusiasm for gardening, I'm yet to have successful onions, all a learning curve I guess, with the celery have you ever dehydrated the leaves, for a powder for soups, great flavour. From the land down under.
This is my first year trying bulb onions and I went straight in from seed 😂 I haven't dehydrated them but that is such a good idea for next season because I feel like my freezer space is becoming a premium!! Thank you for the great tip! 🤗
