@LiezAllLiez that is why he is building an allround unit...if a drop comes, = queens, if bluflame = queens (on creep) u know.... the only way to lose is due to a 8min stimpush
Oh man this was so worth staying up till 4am for! Loved when he finally got vs Plats lol, the fun BM began. OH MR PLATINUM IS MAD! I think this also taught Destiny a lesson in the plats nowadays are very different from the plats after beta, they have pretty solid mechanics, maybe not great but pretty good to do some of the basic strategies pretty solid.
@Sthetoscop3 He suggested it. Start with a 1 base build, keep minerals low, macro properly. When you feel that you've mastered that, go 2 bases, on and on. I suggest playing against very easy to practice. It's what I did
@danielcomments Ah yeah I see your point. Although I would argue that Starcraft is already a niche market in the first place, since Starcraft is known to have a steep learning curve. As a result the people who are interested in the game right now are more likely to be people who are already familiar with it. At least there are custom games, which are pretty accessible to everyone.
I am quite new to starcraft 2. What did you mean by the mechanics? Also how do you get into higher leagues? I came 11th on bronze for a season and am still in bronze.
@FiredRice15 Mechanics is the overall remembering stuff to do (injects, keep producing, research, etc), and without that, you will lose. After you master that, then start learning tactics and strategies (what counters what, build orders for multiple builds, etc)
@Constitutionen "The non strategic aspects of a players game, this mainly involves the execution of micro and macro through the use of multitasking." Courtesy of Liquipedia
@SnNBroadcasting "mechanics" refers to things you do aside from Strategy and tactics. This includes not getting supply blocked, constantly producing units, constantly producing workers, using hotkeys and keeping your money low and using your minimap. The best thing you can do is just practice vs AI (Very Hard Terran AI is a good benchmark). Basically mechanics should be rehearsed to second nature, so you can focus fun strategies and outsmarting your opponent. Hope this helps
Mechanics refers to your general macro but moreso your actual ability to use your keyboard and mouse efficiently, hotkeys, camera control, injects, and keeping upkeep on macro and tightening up any build orders and having strong muscle memory of the games controls. So its the overarching control of your macro and your micro, mechanics can be polished at every level of play.
HonestyoverLoyalty The Platinum League was way lower by this point. Today it is way better... Platinum today is like Master the time this video was made...
I am in the Practice League, and I do not even know what Destiny MEANS by the word, "mechanics." I have visited the StarCraft II forums, and I had trouble processing all the jargon and hostility. I freely admit that I am a newbie, but I want to get better, because I really enjoy this game. Where should I go to better understand basic "mechanics" of this game?
@retelli26 Actually not build order. Mechanics are remembering the basics of the game. Injecting larva, producing enough Drones (and units to survive early pushes), spreading creep, not getting supply capped, spending your money and larva. Build orders are part of your strategy. Better mechanics means you will have more stuff than your opponent. Strategy means you will have the right stuff. Early on, only worry about mechanics.
That ENDING is SOOOOOOO AWESOME!!! I love how he waits until there's multiple nydus worms out so ALL the queens pop out all at once, that looks soooooo awesome!! I wish this was a viable build to some degree, it would give Zerg some fucking options.
I agree so much with what Destiny said in this video. Your mechanics are the most important thing in this game, and it's absolutely worthless to teach someone a build when they still do stuff like rally probes into the gas instead of taking 3 and putting them in.
That was really great! I don't play Star Craft II (just watch for entertainment) and I loved this game. Will be watching the rest. It was an Aliens movie, the poor humans running away trying to survive, then all of a sudden all the Queens just start spawning (don't know the terminology) in his little island. >.
@delomorganano "It will work pass platinum because my mechanics are so good, that's the point I'm trying to make" 3:10 1, he stated he's "going to go" from Bronze to Diamond. 2, he stated it's going to work pass "Platinum" and the rank after platinum is "Diamond" and "Master".
GUYS HELP he mentioned he wanted to post on team liquid forums about how to level from bronze to diamond. Anyone knows where the post is, can't find it any help is appreciated!
Destiny I don't know how to play starcraft, it takes 2 minutes for me to find where stimpacks are, I don't know how to make banelings, it just doesn't make sense... Teach me to get out of bronze plox
Actually, it goes by a hidden "elo" system. If you win 5 games in a row in bronze, the matchmaking will try to pair you up with others of your "elo" such as those in gold and plat. If you constantly win against higher "elo" players, you will be promoted. I was promoted from bronze to silver in only 6 games, but from winning all of them.
@retelli26 It has nothing to do with build orders. Mechanics is about how well you can do the basic things fast and precise enough. Can you macro? Can you hit what you're trying to hit with your mouse? It's pretty self-explanatory, really. It's what you need at the very basic level to get anywhere in SC/SC2. Saturating your bases, managing things in a proper fashion fast enough: the basics.
Can’t believe it’s been 9 years, time to binge watch this series again.
10 years later and zerg is still crushing people with queens
13:20 lol things were so peaceful at this base until....
"queens are pretty weak"
Oh the days of WoL...
Well they were melee when attacking ground, that's what changed it all.
it was kind of boring but at the end fucking FIFTEEN QUEENS EXPLODING OUT OF THREE NYDII HOLY SHIT i'm crying
So does anyone know if he seriously went from Bronze to Diamond with only Queens?
IIRC he plateaued around plat.
That last attack - "surprise! Queens everywhere!" :-p
Just occurred to me how funny the “flavor” is of a Nydus worm tunneling to a rock that is just floating in outer space
@LiezAllLiez that is why he is building an allround unit...if a drop comes, = queens, if bluflame = queens (on creep) u know....
the only way to lose is due to a 8min stimpush
I love that the terran didn't leave until 20 queens a sec started popping out from nydus heads
WOW THIS WAS 9 YEARS AGO
Yo, can you post more videos of hot Queen on Marine action?
Also as im watching this replay I noticed all you hotkeys are hidden? Is that to keep your hotkeys simply hidden or is that some secret?
Oh man this was so worth staying up till 4am for!
Loved when he finally got vs Plats lol, the fun BM began.
OH MR PLATINUM IS MAD!
I think this also taught Destiny a lesson in the plats nowadays are very different from the plats after beta, they have pretty solid mechanics, maybe not great but pretty good to do some of the basic strategies pretty solid.
@ditrapped "definatly" isn't a word.
I wish Destiny would do this again with the SC2 of now. Would be interesting to see if it's still possible.
Considering queens are a lot better now, yeah, probably haha
It was so fun to be in stream when he was doing this. I hope to tune in tomorrow and hopefully see him make silver
@Sthetoscop3 He suggested it. Start with a 1 base build, keep minerals low, macro properly. When you feel that you've mastered that, go 2 bases, on and on. I suggest playing against very easy to practice. It's what I did
This plus spines would be a very interesting build
@danielcomments Ah yeah I see your point. Although I would argue that Starcraft is already a niche market in the first place, since Starcraft is known to have a steep learning curve. As a result the people who are interested in the game right now are more likely to be people who are already familiar with it. @Constitutionen Unit production and control, pretty much.
@Zakk23KS welcome (: and all the best for SC2
I'm not sure what I listen to more in Destiny's videos. His voice, or his keyboard.
Just think how much better this would be with the range buff.
@AEgamesFtw
you can just put them in your base...?
same thing how you deal with phoenix void ray pressure?
i think that guy knows what nydus canals are now
Are there any protoss builds focused on mechanics like this? By this I mean what unit to mass?;/
After you master that, then start learning tactics and strategies (what counters what, build orders for multiple builds, etc)
it reads your previous seasons as well.
Anyone notice how in the video they said bronze to diamond, but in the description it says bronze to platinum?
@Constitutionen "The non strategic aspects of a players game, this mainly involves the execution of micro and macro through the use of multitasking." Courtesy of Liquipedia

i know this is a n00b question, but what exactly constitutes mechanics in SC2 (top 25 plat protoss)
Does anybody know if he ever posted the teamliquid post
his rage is more epic than idra!
@HorrendousMangina He's trying to rage less and being more friendly overall, so definately stay around his stream =)
dang what graphic.texture quality was this?
So how do you improve your mechanics? Tutorial plz?
Mechanics refers to your general macro but moreso your actual ability to use your keyboard and mouse efficiently, hotkeys, camera control, injects, and keeping upkeep on macro and tightening up any build orders and having strong muscle memory of the games controls. So its the overarching control of your macro and your micro, mechanics can be polished at every level of play.
Is this build still working on Hots?
HonestyoverLoyalty how high could you get with this build? I'm in gold and i dont feel like this would work against my typical opponent.
HonestyoverLoyalty The Platinum League was way lower by this point. Today it is way better... Platinum today is like Master the time this video was made...
lol do it correctly and you'll get platinum ezpz. and it'll go downhill from there
Sontraid holy shit seriously?!
alidnwks yes
Does anyone have the link to the article he talks about to the TL post?
Im gonna mass banelings instead. will it work, destiny?
what does "mechanics" and MMR mean, I'm not really sure about the mechanics, but the MMR is a sort of hidden ranking stuff?
I am in the Practice League, and I do not even know what Destiny MEANS by the word, "mechanics." I have visited the StarCraft II forums, and I had trouble processing all the jargon and hostility. I wish this was a viable build to some degree, it would give Zerg some fucking options.
Watching this 9 years later, instead of going to bed. Not all of them tho. Im not a loser
how did you not have enough stalkers to deal with that lol
why not tell them to get an ultralisk when in hive tech? and transfuse to death?
Check out how scrolls the camera using the mouse.... mechanical issue.
where is that post he wrote on TL???
damn they really didnt know anything about sc2 in 2011 haha... getting to diamond without ever making an expansion base
+Gah Aaa actually back then maps are small so 1 base is viable due to rush distance
@TheEvanAdams so you watched 1/10th of the video and didn't get what the video was about, and then decided to post about it. nicely done.
I agree so much with what Destiny said in this video. Your mechanics are the most important thing in this game, and it's absolutely worthless to teach someone a build when they still do stuff like rally probes into the gas instead of taking 3 and putting them in.
anyone have a link to the thread he posted on team liquid about this?
Someone help me how to learn to play SC2. I just can't play Zerg. Any approved guides?
Could you recommend any basic builds for protoss that I could use for practicing mechanics?
such a good teacher!
This video made me cross eyed
how come im at 9:40 but the game timer is at 15?
Accelerated speed
how can i improve my mechanics then?
did this work out? did he get to plat or diamond?
+Smitty Games I'm like 90% sure he only got to plat. Once he got to plat, people started building units and queens weren't good enough to win.
what do they mean by Mechanics ?
I love it how he builds up to it, talks you through it then describes it as "total fucking garbage". It sure looks like it.
@nextag82 Queens?
how can we get lessons from you?
Online games are on faster?
Would help If I knew the "one Base build" he was talking about for Zerg :(
What, exactly, are mechanics?
That was really great! I don't play Star Craft II (just watch for entertainment) and I loved this game. Will be watching the rest. It was an Aliens movie, the poor humans running away trying to survive, then all of a sudden all the Queens just start spawning (don't know the terminology) in his little island. >.
what does destiny mean by mechanics?
I LOLED SO HARD WHEN ALL THE QUEENS CAME OUT
it was also posted 6 months ago
@Crossovahh mmr??
The rage quit at the end was so funny
What do you mean by "mechanics"?
@delomorganano "It will work pass platinum because my mechanics are so good, that's the point I'm trying to make" 3:10
1, he stated he's "going to go" from Bronze to Diamond.
2, he stated it's going to work pass "Platinum" and the rank after platinum is "Diamond" and "Master".
But this is the NA-server right?
Can someone define mechanics for me? Ive got an idea but like a definition?
LOL @ "What are you talking about... this build is awesome... he's going to break these rocks in another 10 mins..."
Destiny was Queened in this Debate.
GUYS HELP
he mentioned he wanted to post on team liquid forums about how to level from bronze to diamond. Anyone knows where the post is, can't find it
any help is appreciated!
Destiny I don't know how to play starcraft, it takes 2 minutes for me to find where stimpacks are, I don't know how to make banelings, it just doesn't make sense... Teach me to get out of bronze plox
@stravos11 The point is you don't need a real strat to get to plat. You just need good mechanics
I had a Gold Game where the Terran went mass ravens, then I noticed a Fuck-Load of Marines heading to my base, Infestor-Baneling FTW
@Spagball66 Wrong. It's a YEAR old.
what is mass queens?
@zygadlo i might try this. cheers
Loved the ending, just sent all the queens in at once and him ragequitting
.
Although what I don't like is when I'm in high diamond and I ask for help, and people say "Better Mechanics" when my probes are constantly building =/
Actually, it goes by a hidden "elo" system. If you win 5 games in a row in bronze, the matchmaking will try to pair you up with others of your "elo" such as those in gold and plat. @MrAntsypants matchmaking rating
@retelli26

especially at 6:50. "what are you talkin about this build is awesome"
Why not use Terran and go mass Marines?
@Zakk23KS keeping minerals low, building enough drones, remembering to inject lavae, etc... basic starting skills
@JulianComeau he is :)
it wont work on Eu..
