My daughter broke her tooth in half and it’s been a nightmare. I wish I could show you the pictures so you can tell me your opinion on it. She’s on a temporary filling. 😢

I use the composite light curing unit for transillumination.

Srinjoy Banerjee I have done that as well. We had our curing lights tested by a 3M rep using a spectrometer from blue light analytics. The test was free! The report gave us a ton of useful information. One of the things it told us was when the curing light would start cooking the pulp. For many of our curing lights it was around 8 seconds. For some of the newer ones, it is even faster!

@@TheComprehensiveDentist I usually use bluephase from ivoclar for curing composite resins. But you'll get some cheap Chinese ones which has a curing time of 40-60s. I forgot to mention that I use those old ones for this. But I'll keep it in mind that high intensity ones can harm the pulp

Srinjoy Banerjee How do you like the ivoclar light? I having been thinking about getting one for awhile. How fast can it “tack cure”?

is a chipped tooth the same thing as a crown fracture?

By definition a crown fracture goes beyond the enamel. A chipped tooth could be an enamel only fracture or it could be a crown fracture. A chipped tooth is the laymen term.
