I started with Citadel but really enjoy the way Vallejo comes out of the bottle. Also the fact it comes in a bottle and not a pot! I'm actually looking into pro acryl next 😅

I started with a Vallejo basic USA model color set. my daughter somehow made 2 colors disappear but still have and use the rest.

Vallejo quality is on par or even better then citadel, quality/quantity/price. Citadel has bigger range of premixed colours when Vallejo has mostly basic ones.

I *think* it was Juan Hildago.. or maybe someone else who said that there's a rumor Vallejo was originally asked to create a range of colors for Citadel. When they decided to go another way, Vallejo released what they'd created as the Game Color series.
I might be wrong here, if someone knows more feel free to correct me.

AV was created in the mid 1960s as a company to produce paints for the film industry, especially for animations. they have a longer standing on the market than GW. if I had known about AV in my starting days, I wouldn't have spent a dime on GW paints.

I've just started painting and bought up a heap of the original Game Color series.. I'm that OCD guy that just wants to collect every color. And now they release a 2.0 and I feel like I have to start over 😭

but is there artist acrylic brand that you would recommend for miniature paint? something a bit more fluid and flow with low viscosity? I got some student grade and some a tad bit higher quality but they are thick and may require a bit more time to mix it to the right consistency. which is some time a bit tired. Vallejo and other miniature paint have no pigment code, no lightfastness, no opaque level, and the naming is random like someone smash their forehead on the keyboard, which is frustrating.

This is an annoying situation of the miniature painting market for sure. Strange names and little in the way of codes but it’s made back up for by making colors which aren’t usually supplied via traditional artist style paints, like skin-tones. There’s two ways in which you can go about this, live with the odd names and learn via feel about the various elements Or go with a brand such as Golden which you’ll get all the relevant information you want but you’ll need to mix everything to make the colors you may want.
