    Skillful sewing is different.
    Literal teaching to sewing beginners,
    along with demo is different.
    You are doing justice to both .

    You are as usual EXCEPTIONAL and GIFTED TO TEACH. I wondered what a satin stitch was and for what it was used. The answer is RIGHT HERE. I have to be careful and change my presser foot .Love these short videos, a great idea. I adore you. Thanks for sharing and caring. Hugs . Your fan from France.

    I love doing a satin stitch over a piece of yarn - gives it a nice thickness, that looks really good on coat buttonholes, for example.

    it never occurred to me that this is a satin stitch, i learnt it as zig zag overlocking stitch simply for sealing edges...but adjusting the length..{mind blown yet again} ..

    I did satin stitch on my biggest project without even knowing that's how it was called I spent a good hour testing different stitches length on a scrap of fabric haha knowing the exact numbers would have saved me quite some time if only I knew it had a name

    Hi! I am trying to do this stitch on thick hoodies/sweatpants as design detailing. Is there a different type of foot pedal or number I should be set at? Had no idea what stabilizer was until this video!!

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So pleased I could help. You could try a walking foot and probably a slightly larger stitch width and length that what I show here as the fabric is thicker. Let me know how you get on.

    I'm having a really tough time trying to do satin stitch on fleece. I'm making dog coats, and was hoping to use it for a stable leash hole, since they are usually two layers. I was trying to use the automatic button hole foot, and while I have been able to get this to work when it was wrong sides up, I was not able to get it to work with the nap of the fleece. It just will not move through the machine, even with stabilizer on both sides, and a walking foot with a decorative stitch attachment. Any tips for something like this?

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmm... unfortunately it might be machine dependent as you are doing everything I would suggest walking foot, stabiliser etc. Instead of a satin stitch you could simply stitch backwards and forwards over yourself to create a bartack style stitch. I think this would work with what you are talking about? Let me know.

      I know its been a year, but have you tried putting a piece (or a couple, because its very thin) of wash away stabilizer on top when it is right side up before sewing? Normally its done when machine embroidering on minky and other napped fabric. It holds the nap down and in place while tear away stabilizer is on the bottom to prevent stretching. Extra wash away stabilizer can be pulled away just like the tear away, and anything left over can be dissolved away beneath the stitches.

    I'm just looking how slowly works this machine. I'd like mine to work so slowly too and I try to correct the speed but it's still too fast for me. I've Jenome Juno E1019.

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I presume it is the control on the foot pedal? But some foot pedal are easier to control than others unfortunately.

    • @MiraX871
      @MiraX871 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MadetoSew Thank you! I'll try to regulate the speed again.

    What’s the tension?

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Libby, hopefully this video on tension will help? th-cam.com/video/ji786ELirvo/w-d-xo.html Tension is the tension of the thread in the machine, and you need to get it right for the fabric and project that you are working on. Aneka :-))

    Idk if you mentioned it but I missed it but, what is the point of the satin stitch ? What would people usually use it for ? Thanks for the video !

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pleasure. It can be used as a decorative stitch for things like appliqué. It is basically the stitch a machine does when it completes a button hole. And you could use it as a bar tack on garment construction too. Hope that helps? Aneka x
