  • I realized an issue with using weak pull up feature in the microcontroller to use button inputs around lots of line voltage AC Power. I still got a glitch with switching the 240V reversing valve but that will be an easy fix later.

It is good practice for circuits that have a high resistance pull up or down resistor to put a 0.01uF ceramic capacitor to Ground for RF bypassing. That prevents the issue that you were seeing. I have a feeling you will get the second one installed here soon with the weather that has been happening recently. Next thing I could see you doing is taking the one unit that runs most of the time and make it into a Heat recovery system to put the heat into your hot water. That I will be interested in.

The bummer thing is that it takes a lot of board space to add those extra resistors and then source them to either ground or vcc. I do set the tri state registers to outputs which locks them to ground.
I think most of the problem was that the week pull ups are literally so weak that I was getting straight voltage induced on those open push button inputs.
