DNA Test: Court Okays Substituted Service on Mohbad's Wife, Wunmi

- The more we hear about the late Nigerian Singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad and his family, the more twists are introduced to the saga surrounding his death in September, 2023. Seven months after, uncertainty hovers around the cause of his death and the paternity of his son, Liam. The latest twist is that a Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu area of Lagos has ordered that Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, be served by substituted means, notice of a pending DNA application. According to a statement by a member of the legal team to the Aloba family, Monisola Odumosu, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba sought an order to serve Wunmi by posting all the originating processes and others in the suit on her last-known address.

If I am challenged and asked for a DNA on my kids, I would never hesitate because I don't have any skeleton in my cupboard. Wunmi should make herself available for DNA test. Let the DNA test be done by a standard hospitals. They should send the swab abroad where bribery wouldn't take place. In fact, it should be done in 3 different hospitals. The autopsy is being delayed because of some hidden facts as well. It's high time we clear the names tagged on Nigeria!!

If Mohbad himself did not doubt the paternity of the boy, then his father has no right to ask wunmi to do a DNA. But on the other hand, wunmi can do the DNA if she wants to. All these things are happening are just for Mohbad riches.

In an homicide case like this, DNA evidence is very needed for investigation in other to know what could have led to the demise of Mohbad. Mr Joseph Aloba is not asking nor acting wrongly.

Will DNA give them an answer to what killed him? If yes I don't see reason the lady making it an issue to do a DNA. Even if the boy is not related to the Aloba's the facts remains that you carried the pregnancy and his you son. What did you mean? In fact, it should be legally binding that if you are to inherit a man's property after death, then you, as the wife, must conduct a DNA test to prove your fidelity, and secondly the proper inheritance owner among the the children if any.

I am not sure that a court can force someone to have a DNA test on a baby that the father (Mohbad) has already accepted. It might be necessary if the wife were to be denying Mohbad’s paternity and the family wanted to prove otherwise.

@@kayodeolaonipekun2067 Some people don’t understand the law. A man can adopt a child and the child will have all rights like a natural child. The grandfather has no rights in this case since he was not involved in the paternity action that led to the child being conceived. Mohbad accepted the child as his own. If the grandparents denied the child, then they can demand for DNA test for acceptance, otherwise, they cannot on their own demand for DNA test on a child that was accepted, unless the child’s mother is making a demand from them on Mohbad’s inheritance. If the child’s mother does not want anything from them, that is the end of the story. The child has the rights to inherit the assets of his known and accepted father irrespective of DNA result to the extent that these assets are not controlled by Mohbad’s family. Fatherhood is not only biological.
