I think this is a wonderful video, I particularly like the graphics for the Allen's test. I work as a tutor for a university and would love to be able to add a link for this video on our university website. Are there any permission/copyright laws that would not allow me to do this please? Or may I have surgical teaching's permission for this please? Many thanks, Fiona.
Hey So I have tried performing an abg multiple times and I never get a flash in my bulb, I even traced the course of the artery and found what what thought was a point where the pulse was best felt. What do you think are some of the common errors one makes when taking an abg that could also be preventing me from obtaining a good sample ?
Hi, it's difficult to answer. ABGs do take a lot of practice to become really good at! It can be helpful to feel the artery with two fingers to then visualise the course of the vessel between these two points and then insert the needle at a point along this course.
Thanks for a greatly informative video. What would you advise with patients that cannot comply with the Allen test, but clearly needs a ABG assessment?
I've had 2. They're painful, and I ended up fainting with the 2nd one and asked the Dr to stop. Took me hours to feel normal after that procedure. They didn't even get a sample. Won't be talked into having another one that's for sure
Hi, the anticoagulant in the needle and syringe is needed to prevent the collected blood sample from clotting before it is able to be analysed. The site of the puncture of the patients artery should stop bleeding with applied pressure, although it's important to press significantly longer in patients who are on anticoagulants or have clotting disorders.
Thank you very much. All steps are well explained.
Very good video. Made everything much clearer to me now.
Glad it helped!
Thank youuu this is too good brilliant explanation
Thanks. Glad you found it useful!
Hello, would you please correct the CC so the vide is accessible?

I love the part of the ‘need’ for Anaesthesia. Like, what’s the point? Thank you
Exactly! Thanks, glad you found it useful
Volunteer for a radial puncture. Then see how you feel
I had it done in Nov 29, to Dec 5, 2020. They numbed it up good, but years ago in 1978, I had it without numbing med it bloody hurts like heck.
The most perfect well explained video on taking abg sample on the internet. Thank you so much for this👍👌
Thanks! Great to hear you enjoyed it ☺️
Never had a patient complain about the sting of a 25G for LA infiltration. Much kinder to do this than not.
Does it need to filled to the part where it is marked at 4ml or is possible to draw lesss
Rapaciously consuming these videos..🔥🔥
6:04 This "if performed well" triggered me. This procedure is BLIND. As such, you meant to say "if you got lucky".

Take a femoral sample?
Take from femoral artery it is very easy ….. but their is a risk of sepsis

Just had one. First nurse was not good. I asked for someone experienced. He got it in first try and with obvious expertise.

Thank you very much!
You're welcome!
good job. thank you
Thanks!
thanks
You're welcome!
How painful is this procedure?
Can be very uncomfortable.
If patient is relaxed by laughter and explaining what to expect, it’s less painful. Also encourage deep breathing.
Amazing explanation 😍😍😍
Thanks! Glad you found it useful! 🙂
great video... keep up the good work
Thanks, will do! We appreciate the support!
Thanks..
You're welcome!
What could happen if the needle didn't have the coagulant? A puncture this small could be fatal?

Very good and cleared thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching 😊
Too good
Thanks!
have u even said a word about the machine used?
It bloody hurts.
It helps to tell patient to relax, that they are doing well, and do deep breathing.
It sure does
@@Nolasusan1 uncaring and barbaric
I like how they try to eliminate the use of a local. Pathetic video. No local no stick!
This sucks being lied to.
Why so extremely painful
Thngs friend
You're very welcome!

You were going good until the Allens test was done. You should not use your thumbs. They carry their own pulse. It would give false results.
