Surprised? Hamm was up against Bryan Cranston’s breathtakingly brilliant, seminal and multi-layered performance as Walter White. As good as Hamm was on MAD MEN, he was no Bryan Cranston as Walter White. It’s like trying to compete with James Gandolfini who breathed life and gave iconic status to Tony Soprano. I'm just glad Mad Men went on longer than Breaking Bad because Jon Ham deserves his win! As legendary as Cranston's was in Breaking Bad, no TV episode has broke me like Person to Person. It just captures the hollowness of life so well and seeing Don breakdown was just the best.
Out of my favorite shows (Mad Men, Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, Dexter, and Hell on Wheels) Mad Men is my favorite and Don Draper is my favorite character. I still can't believe it took them that long to finally give him the award.
2 words.... VINCENT KARTHEISER! Emmy's obsession with certain actors and snubbing others was always a damn joke. So glad he finally won. He just so happened to be on TV during the golden age of TV acting, and also directly in competition with Bryan Cranston for most of the time. Glad he got his due.
Did he and Christina Hendricks not get on? Elisabeth Moss couldn't be more excited and Christina's just looking around wondering why everyone is standing up.
My guy...he brought a cerebral edginess to 'Don Draper' that I don't think anyone else could've given to this role. He was 'out of control' for most of the series, but he always had an integrity that showed up when it came to characters, be them black or white, that weren't as fortunate as his character was.
The way he get up in the stage its looking funny and its really funny but its also tell you what its take from him to reach there absolutely deserved 👏
I don't like that he was nominated 16 times and didn't win any before but come one season 7 of mad men was absolutely amazing jon hamm really did some of his best acting in that season alone the others were good but season seven was just amazing.
Does anybody else think that it's a bit weird the way Christina Hendricks reacted to Jon's win? I mean, she remained seated clapping while her colleague collected a very much deserved award. If you look at Elisabeth Moss' reaction, she basically jumps off her seat in happiness, and is giving him a standing ovation while smiling like crazy. Don't know, just felt it was a bit strange such a deflated response.
I noticed that, too. Just by her body language, she A) doesn't seem to like him that much or B) they had a disagreement of sorts behind the scenes and she's upset about that. If they were on good terms, I'd expect her to have had a reaction like Elisabeth Moss', where she was smiling and clearly very happy for her co-star.
I really feel bad for john hamm for the year's he was up against Bryan Cranston. (or to all nominees up against him) but what a great way to end the series and finally getting one after 16 noms!
