@@Cyann33andaThird Don't compare Doomguy and Sam. First-Is a robot. Killing machine without even humanoid And Sam.... Sam is serious guy, he's have a sense of humor..
At least Duke gets the last laugh. In the recent 20th Anniversary Edition of Duke 3D there's a new campaign in which Sam's corpse missing both legs and an arm is found and Duke comments: "Why so serious, Sam?"
I love those Eastereggs. I need to get the 20th Anniversary Edition of Duke 3D, really want to play Duke's Game. And btw i hope for another Duke Easteregg in Serious Sam 4 too :)
To be fair, the fact they took FOREVER to respond to Sam's insult from 2005 must mean the devs really have a desperate grudge against Croteam. The people who made the last campaign for 3D world tour are very butthurt, and their insult towards Sam is quite weak.
Tbh, that easter egg felt pretty forced and pales in comparision to the duke skeleton "burn" easter egg in Serious Sam 2... Not only it was actually funny, it also poked fun at Duke Nuken Forever taking... well... forever to be made. It felt like they wanted to poke back at Serious Sam, while using a dead meme, and failed at delivering it.
Looking back Serious Sam II did undoubtedly have a more interesting story than the other Serious Sam games but it was often drowned out by Serious Sam II's cartoonish tone; otherwise it would've been superior overall. I found it quite cool trying to bring down Sirius' Shield with a laser and then attempting a full scale attack on Sirius itself as well as going from planet to planet. Serious Sam II was pretty difficult too; especially the final boss; I hated those kamikazi jet's.
SS3 makes you take cover too often and you always fight in very narrow areas. Open areas are always littered with obstacles. And whatever happened to entrances closing behind you silently telling you there will be loads of enemies coming at you from about everywhere. In SS3 enemies almost always come at you from the front and as strange as it seems in too few numbers. I agree that SS2 was too cartoonish, but it did a better job in being like SS1 in gameplay than SS3 does.
I just bought SS3 when Amazon had it on sale for Spring. It's an awesome game, but I definitely agree. I'm at the part where the game throws a bunch of small scorpions, large scorpions, small minigun scorpions, some Kleers, and TWO large minigun scorpions at you. Right after I got done fighting two hordes of Kleers. Seriously, what the hell.
I actually like how different this Serious Sam was from the others. To me, it was fresh in a way that also helped the older games stay fun. Of course, the completely different feel did make me feel like I'm playing an entirely different series, but it's easy for me to look past issues like those since let's face it - Sam never really had a meaningful story, and continuity in it matters little. It's all about shooting the baddies, and I sure enjoyed shooting them in all of them, Including SS2.
Dukenukem has been hanging there forever.... when he finally dropped down and made a noise of bones clashing on the ground going to small bits, people turn around and look and be like; "...... ehh, it was just a skeleton that crashed down" lol

Smooth bore shotguns shooting deer slug's can go out past 200 yards and hit a human sized target in a fairly concentrated grouping. This is standing up btw.
@viruzag I agree. SS3 is awesome but some of the fights drag on way too long and the environments could have been a little more varied. The 'alien' rooms looks pretty awesome though.
