    Ive had horses all my life. The stitches getting bigger at the end reminds me of a horse that barn storms. They want the ride over and their getting closer to home so they go faster. Hehe.

    I stuck it out. Glad I did, simple is better, hot flashes are hell, but it's good to jeep going and finding ways of distressing, because it's not worth it. No one is trying to get us but ourselves. Learn I ing to be easy on oneself is very hard. I love your work and love the fact that you want to go simple, joyfully along. Thank you so, so much for your crafts and sincerity on just being human.❤❤❤😊😊😊

    Tip: being an old fashioned mother, if pins would not go thru diaper easily, gently run pin thru your hair/scalp. Helps to lubricate pin.

    Your heart was very pretty. I think you are wise to pick how you go along with a challenge. I have chosen to glean from the various challenges, sew or otherwise create every day, and give myself grace for the days when I didn't get a chance to carve out an opportunity. Just pick it up tomorrow and move on. I have many bits of time waiting in the car or at appointments so I have made myself kits to take along. Slow stitching is a great relaxer. May you be blessed for your sharing.

    I hear you with the minor OCD and my Virgo tendencies make me want everything to be organized and perfect. I have a mantra I use…. It doesn’t have to be perfect. That I repeat to myself when I find I am getting too stressed out over a project. I just try to be kind do myself. Easier said than done for sure. Also remember its only has to be progress done each day not a final project. That helps keep me motivated. Just going to cut out hearts, or just piece one today. Or just finish the back of one Ive stitched. I only just found our channel looking for slow stitching projects. I am for sure going to follow. I am in DBT therapy which mindfulness is a huge part of and when I found mindful or slow stitching I knew I needed to try it. I look forward to watching more of your content. Thank you!!! I am sewing Yoyo puffs (my own name for them) and I use them to decorate things. I quite like the idea of making hearts. I hadn't thought to fold the fabric in half to get a nice cut with the pinking shears - thank you for that. Also book marks are nice to make and they are useful for recipe books and my diary. A heart book mark for the corner of the page is another small project between the larger projects - to refresh the pallet.

Everything looks good. The reason I found you is I just began a stitch book like the one Ann Hood made. She said spend 15 minutes a day. Well I can't stop at that. I also knit a lot. Usedto quilt so have many many scraps. Also trying to finish many quilt projects I began years ago. Anyway, I'll check to see if you've continued to stitch hearts. And I'll work on the pages of my book.

    You might what to take several hearts stacked and then slicing them. Then mix and match the pieces back into the shape of a heart?

    I use size 20 crochet thread from Joann’s and it works like SASHIKO thread much cheaper & way more yards. 😊 I just came across your video and like what you are doing. So, I subscribed! I love the stitched heart. I’m sitting here in Central Virginia working on a hexagon coaster with some embroidery and few beads, then I will do the quilt as you go method to finish it off. Tomorrow I want to make a heart patch like you have made tonight, I really like the simplicity and it is so meditative as well. I have to have my hands busy sewing something. This was lots of fun and look forward to your next video. ❤

    Hi Martha - enjoying watching your video while I stitch myself. Love your first heart and the combination of neutral fabrics and words. Don’t feel nervous about videoing - you’re doing a great job. But I’m like you and don’t like anyone watching me video in person. I was on holidays recently and my parents joined us for a few days and dad says he wanted to watch me do my video. I politely explained its not a sodctator sport 😂 Looking forward to more of your videos. Cheers, Christine from Australia

      Thanks so much Christine! I watched that video you mentioned and chuckled because I’m the exact same way about my husband! It’s bad enough I talk to myself all the time but not in front of him, lol 😂. Thank you for watching. Oh, BTW, ever since the Go-Pro convo, I’ve seen many videos where people dislike that camera because it has issues. The 360 camera is what everyone seems to like for small and compact, but it doesn’t do close ups. Cameras aren’t cheap so do your research. 😳😊

    Hi Martha! Just found you and love your little hearts. This may be a weird question, but do you wash your fabrics before using them? The gathering of neutrals look to be so soft. 😊

    • @marthamanigross
      @marthamanigross  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi and welcome!
      Not a weird question at all!
      I am a fabric washer! If I buy yardage, I generally wash before using because of the chemicals that come in fabrics. (I’m OCD when it comes to chemicals). If the fabric is precut, such as strips or 2.5” & 5” charms, I don’t because it would shrink so much and it would make a mess.
      Please feel free to ask questions. I appreciate it!

    Dear Martha, how did you do the flowers on the front and back of your bag ? I'm left handed and really struggle. I'm looking at your video here for the first 1.45 mins ( front and back). Also, what size is the little bag? Sorry to bother you. I am wishing you all the best x

    • @marthamanigross
      @marthamanigross  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Jane. No bother at all.
      I used a variety of stitches to make the flowers. I have a recommendation for you - type in the search box Ariane Zurcher - she is left handed and has many videos on stitches. You have to go back a couple of years as she isn’t making stitching videos anymore.
      I do many of the flowers in most of my videos if you continue to watch, especially my more recent videos. If you break each one down step by step and reverse the pattern when you do it, it should work for you. I had to do that with Arianes’s videos since she’s left handed and I’m right handed.
      Thank you so much for watching and reaching out. I’m happy to help what ever way I can.
