    I made cards where are PM and AM + Hours and taped them on my clock, and now, when I look at clock I say the time in english and in korean. (I wrote minutes on paper too and taped the paper above the clock)

    I was hoping you would explain it in the video, butnin my korean book-I’m on 1.3 Time-different phrases has different endings.
    Example (1): 25 Past 11
    -옂한시 ㅈ보 분 ieyo
    Example (2): 25 to 4
    - 네지 지보 분 전 eyo
    Why is the ending different? I am having a hard time finishing this section because I can’t remeber the ending. My goal for next year is to finish the korean book-I do look up your info since the book doesn’t go into detail like you-by the end of next year. There is 14 chapters. 감사합니다

    Can the "am/pm" part be ommited if it is implied by context? E.g. if you have cram school in the evenings, and someone asks you "what time do you have cram school today?", and he expects to hear an evening hour, can you just say "at 5:00", or you still have to say "at 5:00pm"?

    in English, we also use phrases as below to tell time :
    1. quarter past one o'clock
    2. quarter to one o'clock
    how to say those in Korean? thank you

    • @cho3chic
      @cho3chic 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi!
      Here are the answers.
      1. We don't have specific expressions for "past" when telling time. So, to say quarter past one' o'clock, just say "한 시 십오 분", which means 1:15.
      2. Meanwhile, there are another way to say quarter to 1. "한 시 십오 분 전", whose literal meaning is "15 mins before 1." We use "(hour) (min) 분 전".
      Hope this was helpful!

  • @gautamthapa2057
    @gautamthapa2057 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Professor 오 . Is there way to say It is quarter past 5 am.( 5:15) . and It is quarter to five o'clock.( 4:45)

    • @sjg4388
      @sjg4388 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We don't use quarter when telling time. So 5:15 is 다섯 시 십오 분 and 4:45 is 네 시 사십오 분 or 다섯 시 십오 분 전.

    • @Harlenjj
      @Harlenjj 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Erin Prior
      Sorry for late response but
      분 is minutes so naturally you would put it after the time
      So if it's 12:30 Pm
      You could do
      오후 열두시 삼십분 ( Pm 12 30minutes)
      But you could also instead of 삼십분 you can replace it with 반 ( 오후 열두시 반 ) ( Pm 12 half ) because 30 minutes is half of an hour so you can just say Half or say the full word 30 minutes :) hope this helped
