    The Technasia track is ‘Resilience’, not ‘Force’. ‘Force’ is A1, ‘Resilience’ is B1 on the 2000 12".

      if you spin vinyl for 20+ years you get a feel for those details, even recognizing some pressing plants.

    • @DaSkonk
      @DaSkonk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Detroit techno of the time was mostly all being pressed at the same plant, and usually cut and mastered by the famous Ron Murphy (NSC) using his signature Scully lathe; so often had a certain 'look'.
      And big acid tracks like that had quite distinctive grooves too, that you would definitely recognise when you saw them, if they were familiar.

    • @clairvoyantmole8668
      @clairvoyantmole8668 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This particular record was pressed running from inside to outside. You don't need to be a pro to see that.

    • @gyuziburcsany
      @gyuziburcsany 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      The idea is that most of the detroit techno stuff was playing from the inside to the outside.
      However, Overkill amped this one up a level. In addition to the inside-out playing, the grooves were not locked, and the stylus would jump off at the end, assuming you left the turntable unattended. It was even etched on the vinyl, "when this track ends, so will your needle".
      Ever since I have known about this fact (which to be honest, is since this Thursday) I have been wondering how many people were caught off guard by this.

    • @josephinewinter
      @josephinewinter 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      actually i used to be a huge indie music super obscure vinyl addict (before internet, mp3) and i could tell how loud or quiet bits of songs would be and what the guitar would be like and therefore of course the song structure just from looking at the vinyl, and even if i would definitely like the track because i loved certain structures and textures of music!!!!! i have no exact idea how, but just from the vinyl tracks. I had to buy by post and unwrap before i put it on (i had to get permission to use my dad's record player) so there was a lot of seeing before hearing. I forgot that until reading your post, thanks for bringing back my memories!

      Working on it but not so easy to find (better known) DJs because they are a bit afraid to loose 😉

      @@ThisIsTheInternet No, if you're talking about the Technasia track, it's definitely techno, even if it's more melodic. Techno may sometimes feel melodic, you can check it with several Detroit techno tracks ;)

      @@maxiqums1549 to kick out any early jeff mills techno track is an extremely bold proposition. Know your roots and appreciate the political struggle that was associated with Underground resistance as a whole collective and then Mills as an individual in that era
