Hardwoods have a much more complex structure than softwoods but the main the difference is hardwood contains pores or vessels while softwoods do not. A simple way to think about it is this: hardwoods have broad leaves and fruit, where softwoods have cones and needles.
Just started playing this myself. One hint I can give you: At 3:04 you talked about not knowing where to get flint when you first started playing. You then pointed out the great crafting mechanic they put in where some recipes allow you to use multiple resources, such as Stone or Flint to create your first stone tools. You then went through and showed how you can uncheck Flint from each of those tool recipes in order to use stone. You don't need to do that for that situation. You would have still been able to create the tools from stone even with both of them checked and even though you did not have flint. Thinks of it this way. Unchecking a checkbox is not there to say, "I don't have this resource so use the other one." It is there to say, "I have this resource, but I don't want you to use it." For instance, let us say you had a recipe that could use a couple of different resources, one you had a lot of and the other that you had very little of. Moreover, you needed that latter resource for a different recipe you were going to make later. You would uncheck the latter resource from the recipe you are making now, ensuring you do not inadvertently use it, saving it for later.
Your awareness level is not your only level.. you keep going past your character tab.. there are points to distribute.. and your characters levels.. maybe its you getting distracted. But you need to take a minute to just look at your tabs for more than 1.5 seconds to see all the visual clues.. like your icons for gear… shortcuts for crafting more than one.. etc.. but your streams are still a-lot of fun watching you stumble around
This is his typical problem. - Does not read tooltips. does not read "visual queue's". Honestly surprised he noticed the "f" craft all or the slider. - It's your standard streamer blindness because they try to "limit the time" spent to make a video while trying to leave time for other video's. Rush, rush, rush.
Agreed. He worries so much about boring us with details that sometimes he ends up boring us by not providing details. I often find myself yelling at my tablet. “Kage! It’s literally right in front of you! Read!!”
@maleficentia8390 Why'd you put quotes around "visual cues?" This is a problem with many streamers. I get "streamer vision," but after a point, it's a problem with the player and not just because they're streaming. There's more than memorizing things, but it sometimes feels like many streamers forget to actively look at things. I don't think most people would mind a streamers spending an extra minute reading things if it contributed to a better stream.
Everyone I've watched so far, save for one person, has played a male character. Including people playing the demo months ago. Weird. I much prefer customizable games. I don't like being locked into a specific character. I understand for some types of games it's necessary. However, all the years growing up being forced to play male characters did get quite old during the 90s and early 2000s. Having a choice is nice.
It's okay but its no Palworld or Enshrouded. It will do well but doubt it will be a #1. There's just way too many games this / next year that are looking pretty good for that #1 slot.
"Click on Basic Building to learn how to do Thick Rope. Ok. Uhm, i don't remember where those Thick Ropes are". That's our Kage848, ladies and gentlemen 😄
Difference between a sickle and a scythe are: Sickle is a circular blade with a short handle. A scythe has a longer, less curved blade with a long handle with a second handle attached.
Or, put another way, a scythe is two handed and a sickle is one handed A scythe is used standing up, where a sickle normally requires you to bend over.
The whole time I was thinking "Do I have to look at that goofy mask all the time?". Then I saw they have a little check box on the bottom that you can turn on and off for that. Excellent!
It never bothered me that some people like to AFK into a cactus while they go to work/school/nap/whatever... I do remember AFK crouching in Morrowind.. but, if that tells ya anything..
excellent-quality scythe first try craft? winners win. good content as always, Kage 👍 really liking the clean look and utility of the ui and menus, especially for crafting and moving inventory (tho i didn’t see how the splitting of items in inventory is). also, i like how it displays the loss/gain of materials/items in the middle of screen instead of at the sides. originally wasnt feeling it but now i appreciate it as it brings immediate attention to it - tho it could get cluttered if there are alot of materials/item updates on screen. they seem to have a good sense of layout for their ui/menus and how they display the updating of data to the player well. and it all seems pretty intuitive. crafting and crafting menu/ui is well done too and intuitive. off to a good start. 👍
Great vid man. First time i came across your channel. I like you style, your delivery, your enthusiasm. You just have a very natural vibe. Refreshing. You sold me and i downloaded the demo but i only have a couple of days to play it before its removed apparently, so i cant afford to watch any more vids for now. The irony lol. But def going to be checking out more of your content soon.
This game looks interesting. Definitely wishlisted to keep an eye on it. BTW - you don't have to unclick flint if you don't have it when crafting stuff. I just hit "E" to craft what was selected and it worked with stone.
Need refinement! Sorry I'm comparing this game with Icarus but good quality survival games are something we need! Thanks Kage enjoy your videos a lot 😊
Looks ALOT like myth of empires. That relaunches in a couple of weeks after a couple of years of legal battles resulting in removal from Steam. Progression menus / building options look very similar too. Had some great times playing that game and it looks like they continued development while it was down.
I like the open-world sandbox focus of this game - has real survival mechanics at the start unlike Enshrouded. Building, Crafting, Skills and Research is detailed But after that it seems to become a tribe building mask stuff - not sure I will like that part.........................................
I guess you never played Oblivion or Morrowind. You leveled up the skills or traits by doing them. I remember when you first started playing you could jump a lot to level up acrobatics I believe was the skill.
I remember Morrowind, jumping off cliffs, healing, jumping off again, over and over again, leveling up my Khajit characters Accrobatics. Eventually, I felt like Super Mario, jumping over houses, trees and shit and I was super fast too. It was hilarious how OP my character got. I miss Morrowind, been wanting a remake for years, it really needs one IMO.
Dont know why, but i am getting very very strong ark survival evolved wibes from this. It almost looks like its built on the same engine, using the same/similar assets. especially the rocks look identical. Not spinning some conspiracy theory here or anything, just saying it feels extremely similar.

You think they can spice things up better And no I'm not talking about creating a whole story about it but maybe instead of starting you off at a jungle in the middle of nowhere they can perhaps start you off inside a whale or something where you build off in there or you start off in a desert where you have to walk for miles before you could hit or reach some little jungle areas and then you have to go to another place to cut other resources and look for a very treasures in which you can go into a market area and sell it for goods and profit! @commonsenseloss HAAA!! Good to know. Thanks. At least they have that in mind and they'll hopefully fix it.
Many MMOs use “learn by doing” as you termed it. It can be annoying for some things, but makes the most sense from a realism standpoint.
It never bothered me that some people like to AFK into a cactus while they go to work/school/nap/whatever...

Agree survival games building so very often have issues with roofing, the pieces just don't want to snap decently.
Looks interesting! Thanks for showing all of these coming games!
Scythe's are two-handed and Sickles are one-handed. Additionally, Scythes have been used as weapons - but they're not particularly good or effective.
Hay there has been a fair amount of great games in the last few months. I missed this one as well.
You didnt miss it bc it isnt out yet...

Can't wait for more

Played it and it got on my wishlist in 0.5 sec ! Love it , too bad the bosses are not yet too well implemented but they are THERE !
a sickle and a scythe are two different things. one is for one hand, the other is a large 2-handed tool.
You actually go to character level 40, not 30. I believe the tech tree awareness strength is capped at 30 though
I've been playing the Demo and ended up wish listing it straight away.
Good night, that's quite the title screen
The building mechanic is just like the one in The Front.
That my door opens both directions irritates me in Enshrouded.

Looked at the thumbnail and came for the build. Sadly didn’t see that build. Would have loved to see it
