This is where i go when I hear Angelina Year 1937,City Chicago,Place a smokey Speak Easy in the South side of the city, the room seems unusually melancholy even for a Monday night and then a young raven-haired Jazz singer starts to sing on a moonless night. Everything seems right again.
Cool idea Steve👍👌👏 great Sun Darkness video and beautiful "Ain't No Sunshine" song from Angelina our Angel 😇 Take Care and have a great Week and work and music time with our Angel 😇 Angelina 🙏😇👋🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭🙋♂️
Cool idea for a video Steve. Surprised you didn't travel a little bit north to see a total eclipse. For us in Ohio, in the path of totality, we got very lucky with only some cirrus clouds that day and they thinned out in time for the eclipse. It was the only mostly clear day we had in many, many days.
Certainly thought about it but between the cloudy forecast, concern about traffic on the return trip, etc decided to just enjoy the almost-total eclipse. PLUS we had traveled to Nebraska on 8/21/17 and DID experience totality then. It was Awesome.
Andy, the scenes from Cleveland on NASA TV were excelent! The best were from Indiana, where you could clearly see several solar prominences. It was a breathtaking event; almost as moving as Angelina's concert in Vegas.❤
Oh Steve, what a good idea to join your two passions Sun and (A)star !!! ☺ I followed the eclipse live on Nasa TV, and it was marvellous to see the the happiness of the people from Mexico to Canada, through USA ! I remember the total eclipse in France in 1999, it was gorgeous !! As you know I'm astronomer too, and when I talk about Moon to some people, I often sing "Fly me to the Moon", I can't do nothing else !!! ♥☺ Angelina never leaves my brain !
@@robertpalmer9831 Nice. I admit I had to look up HR diagram! But now see what you're talking about. I say - right next to Betelgeuse! About to go supernova. I even posted about it once on Facebook (last September): Angelina and Betelgeuse I love how Angelina uses astronomical references in many of her lyrics, and covers. There are SO many. First, she’s seemed drawn to covers like the one she’s performed most, Fly Me to the Moon - which includes in the lyrics ‘play among the stars’ and ‘what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars’. Then there’s ‘sun in the sky’, and ‘stars when you shine you know how I feel’ (Feeling Good). There are her lyrics in her improvised Back in Black: ‘Every night become a star’, and ‘the one who speaks to the moon’. But then look at her originals!: ‘Shine like stars in the darkest sky’ (What is Life). ‘The stars are our witnesses’, ‘aurora dancing in the sky’ (Oslo). ‘Watching you from the moon’, ‘your friends the stars’ (Million Miles). And now from the EP, even more: ‘look for my north star’ (Fire and Rain). ‘light is shining as bright as the sun’, ‘shine like the night sky’ (Good in Goodbyes), and to top it off, ‘Shining like a supernova’ (Diamond)! So it seems appropriate to find an astronomical equivalent to our favorite Norwegian vocalist, and I nominate : Betelgeuse. It’s the 10th brightest star in the sky, and is the uppermost (left) star (or the right hand/shoulder) in the giant constellation Orion. Betelgeuse was in the news in recent years when it unexpectedly and dramatically dimmed, from Oct 2019 to Feb 2020. Angelina actually did the opposite - HER star BRIGHTENED dramatically in nearly that exact same timeframe, of course, on America’s Got Talent/Champions. And how about this: Betelgeuse is a young star, but astronomers know it is going to go supernova, and soon (in astronomical terms) - however they don’t know when. Who else do we know who is about to go supernova, we just don’t know the exact timing? 😊
Abbey Road shirt-guy I've always thought that "supernova" was an inappropriate term to apply to Angelina, because it refers to the explosion of a DYING STAR. She's anything but. Just sayin'.
What an interesting idea Steve! Pairing an eclipse with Angelina, our bright star! Nice that the clouds thinned out enough for you to capture some really nice pics. I think in California we had around about 30% of the eclipse. I was watching it live on tv as the networks kept switching over to other states to see how each place would look during totality. Crazy how some areas got so dark hat it was literally nighttime!
I don't know if they showed it no the TV coverage, but I remember from our 2017 experience that during totality, if you're in an open field like we were, you experience a 360-degree sunset. The moon's shadow is round, so as it's right over the top of you, you can see the edges of the shadow in every direction. One of the many cool aspects of totality.
Steve, I have no idea why I’m not seeing this until now (I think I have to check my notifications tab). This is wonderful - it’s so cool. Nice seeing you a little while ago at James Theil’s “If I were a boy” premiere. 😉😊👋
Love it !

Nice, 'sun and (a)star' 🙂 . And familiar with the feeling of having AJ-music-on-the-brain. In fact, now I'm hearing her sing 'Love on the Brain' 🙂
Nerd alert: "Supernova DNA..." I wonder where Angelina belongs on an HR diagram? I hope it's in the middle and she has a long career ahead of her.😊❤

It was at 93% where I live (Saguenay, Quebec, Canada). It went from 14 C to around 8 C during the eclipse.
Hi Claude - yes, noticed the temperature drop here too!
@@SteveAckerman-ly3qg Sad that we'll never see that again in our lifetime. Fortunately we have AJ to warm us all up🥰
