When we were in Vietnam the owner of a car with that fitted told us it was to stop the rats and mice chewing on the electrical wiring and hoses , and making nest in there 😳 😀

Yep just googled the car protector and it’s there to deter rats from chewing the car wires etc and making nests in there…It’s called a rat protector…
