The opening is amazing. It just jumps right into it. Unlike In Solitude, Prison Born, in which those usually start slow or have a wind sound. This is truly. One of their greatest.
+Noah Papafagos Thank FUCK. I've always felt that was the pinnacle of their sound, sure they evolved bla bla bla but P.D. still has the most enjoyable songs by The Faceless imo.
+TimmyScandi No sense in arguing with the kid look at his name. I guess something has to be in the same key to sound like something. Has nothing to do with time/phrasing. /sarcasm
I really dig this tune. I know the last album didn't sit well with some folks, but it really grew on me, so I'm happy to hear a continuation of the vibe that album had with its songwriting. I'm excited to hear the rest of this album!
The switch at 2:25 was unexpected but added so much flavor than what's to be expected from another faceless song, these guys know exactly what they're doing
This is really good. I knew Michael would have no problems in carrying on with the Faceless despite a complete turnover of band mates again. This song really sounds like PD type stuff, can't wait to hear more.
Beautiful. This takes me back to 2006-2008 when all the bands on Sumerian now came out with their best albums. It's good to see The Faceless sticking to their roots
The production is so thin and sharp, but I still love the music itself. I’m just glad we got another album at all though. It’s probably going to be the last unfortunately.
Been listening to the faceless since like 2009 they just keep releasing great tracks every year. we have micheal keene to credit for keeping the projects alive.
so overrated band which influenced an entire subgenre called technical death metal. Chuck schuldiner was 20 years ahead of any other 90s band, every album is different and u can clearly listen to ann evolution of the music. Maiden's got stuck in their 80s and writing the same old stuff even to this day. Music is personal taste, but stating they were overrated it's really out of context.
this brings me absolute happiness. i love that they keep the same sound but tweek it just a little bit and yet its still satisfies. idk. this is metal.
"According to The PRP, “Keene goes on to say in the comments of the post [that] he has plans to do a solo album following the completion of The Faceless record, adding that he already has 5 songs written and recorded for it.” Keene first announced that record in 2012, so he seems to be writing at a rate of about one song per year. So either it’ll end up being an EP, or it will finally be complete circa 2021, at which point it will sit on a shelf until 2030, after the release of the new Faceless album. Hopefully Keene’s album of stand-up comedy material will follow shortly thereafter, and then we can all just die already."
+Metal555Fan It's great.... but it's definitely not The Faceless most were hoping for. In all fairness I really like all the The Faceless's stuff except this one because they've changed and progressed their sound, but this song on the new album just seems to me as if Autotheism wasn't complete and this is it.
Stephen Chapman There are alot of positive comments, true! But look further down in the comments section, tons of negative stuff... I mean, to each their own, but come on, this sounds like a song out of Akeldama or Planetary Duality, it's awesome.
Amazing stuff. I found the guitar solo so moving! I can't wait to hear more. Best of luck to Keene & crew on rounding out the line up for the record and inevitable tour!
+Levi Sadler Christianity is not the sole owner of Christmas or the Virgin Birth story. This song slays so it is certainly an early gift in celebration of a Humanity-wide celebration of Winter Solstice.
I might be the only person still patient for the full length release. So many misfortunes have come along for The Faceless and I hope it all mends together soon. This will always be one of the most influential and progressive death metal bands to date.
So good to have Derek 'Demon Carcass' Rydquist back on vocals! It just sounds right... A very progressive piece with that distinctive TF sound. Can't wait to hear the rest!
a fan of the faceless cant lose hope they always release something thats never less then before and never sounds dofferent enough to be hated like BMTH
When I found out about this song, the first thing I thought was "fuckers are about to pull a Subject Zero on us..." Same label, too, although I'm not gonna base my opinion on that. :-p
Al Pra He is going througg some personal problems bro.Last time i talked to him on skype he wasnt doing to well.It takes time to make music and life problems is taking away his time right now and he basically lost all his band mates so its hard to get people together that arent busy with their own personal problems to fins time and practice together.
One of my favorite bands is back! And sounding heavier and more "deathy" as they previously had. Love me some killer solos. Great song. Ready for the rest of the album.
im so glad the faceless is back and they still kept there one of a kind mind melting sound. this shit is like their last two albums combined. cant wait to here more!!!!
after a few listens this is pretty fucking fantastic, it has all of the core elements of their sound but with a greater sense of maturity and creativity
The first half of the bar kind of, but then the second half is just a repeat of the first where in Marigold it goes up higher. Also just sounds similar because they are both in 7 time
Do you guys ever make anything that just isn't gold? Been a fan of you all for a long long time. Was able to share the stage with you all when y'all released Planetary Duality. Keep up the great work...I'll keep giving you my money! Cheers!
I love iseestars for when they dropped 3D and Bizzy's album was on my shelf the day it came out. I remember seeing him when he was at such a low, he was a greeter at Wal-mart, and that was the first time I saw him lol I love Sumerian and their willingness to deviate and experiment with their roster. After the Burial and Veil will always be old favorites of mine, but from when it was ISS, VoM, and Born of Osiris being the only bands on the label when I first stumbled upon Sumerian, until now, I can honestly say Sumerian's diversity over the years has definitely influenced my tastes, and up until a couple years ago, was a main staple in my musical diet. Now everything just seems to have such a lessened impact and I find it harder to listen to the original bands that got me hooked on Sumerian five years ago. Stray and Periphery were always stuck in my head and now I just listen to new releases and feel meh.. Mostly, its just my tastes having ventured in a different direction; I'm just bummed that I've lost my own connection with an entire label. But is anyone out there really sitting there going, "Holy shit I cant wait to hear what Bodycount does next!"? Haha its nice to see them get some more veteran blood though, Circa was a great addition too. And crosses, TRAM, and Rarity were some killer additions as well. Last thought... I think Struc/tures / was superb
+havoren I had entirely forgotten about Erra. Augment was a great album at the time of me getting ahold of it. I got very attached to them at that point
Seeing as how it took me until thursday, 2 days ago, to get the shirt I ordered from them back in fucking august. Its not surprising theres no new news about this cd. Matter fact its not surprising they cant even keep a stable lineup to make the fucking thing. Seeing as how demon carcass already left again.
I'm really glad that what happened to The Haarp Machine didn't happen to this band.... it sucks to see good talent go to waste. This band was able to bounce back from losing all of its members and I'm so happy they're making music again.... super stoked to see these guys when they roll around to Dallas on tour :D
You killed it at Knotfest on Friday guys. I wish the crowd was way more into it but I'm hoping the San Diego fan base will redeem that. Cant wait for the 5th. The Faceless will forever live on! Cheers!
That 'clean' distortion tone is great.
That’s as high gain as tone should ever be, bedroom guitarists take note!

Addiction is truly a demon no one should ever have to battle...
Some are called to fight regardless.
Man, the guitar tone and his ideas are just touching.
This sounds like it combines Autotheism with Planetary Duality but the best parts of each to make the perfect sound. This is too cool...
The opening is amazing. It just jumps right into it. Unlike In Solitude, Prison Born, in which those usually start slow or have a wind sound.
This is truly. One of their greatest.
Wtf bro? You summed it up perfectly well 💯 it sounds exactly you described 🔥🔥
God, how beautiful are those solos?!
More beautiful than most other solos
Check "Rimskys Beard" by Daniele Gottardo if you want another godtier solo that is on this level tho :)
well, I'm going to have to play that at least 20 times in row
+Kinnzie Martin Same here bro
Yep
Did this last night
I'm on about #18...
+Kinnzie Martin I'm nearly at 30 replays right now.
Oh my. I love every song they've ever done...
+Michael McCuin I'm glad Randy Bobandy cheeseburger king approves!
+James Buhr bobanarannnnn
+Michael McCuin RANDY!
Randy you fucking mustard tiger!!
mufuckas with guts like that definitely ON the cheeseburgers
After a few more listens, I really love that watery flange effect on those arpeggiated chords. Really awesome choice for adding depth to those parts!
If this is what the new album sounds like, I'm gonna be a happy guy.
well I'm faceless now, because this melted my face off
Don't melt your pretty face
Reminds me a lot of planetary duality love it!
Just what I was thinking! If this album has a concept, we're back on the Keene glory train ✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼
+Noah Papafagos Thank FUCK. I've always felt that was the pinnacle of their sound, sure they evolved bla bla bla but P.D. still has the most enjoyable songs by The Faceless imo.
Ha ha ha what the actual fuck are you talking about? Name me just one single The Faceless album that fits into one key
+TimmyScandi No sense in arguing with the kid look at his name. I guess something has to be in the same key to sound like something. Has nothing to do with time/phrasing. /sarcasm
+internetwarrior666 he can't listen to technical death metal because he doesn't have the knowledge of music theory ?
That last part is so catchy...
Best thing I've heard all year.
And this is a year in which we had new BTBAM, Tesseract, STS, and more.
This band never dissapoints me :')
Probably the best band on Sumerian
Periphery.
This song along is the best of sumerian
In the midst of lions plus they were the greatest Christian metal band by far. Except for Becoming the Archtype.
Most definitely
that last minute or so, pulling off that awesome simultaneous creepy/beautiful sound that i didnt think anyone but Opeth could do well. love it.
This is really good. I knew Michael would have no problems in carrying on with the Faceless despite a complete turnover of band mates again.
This song really sounds like PD type stuff, can't wait to hear more.
Like a rollercoaster of sounds and song moments, that's what I like in songs. Keep the good job.
Post salsa tech-death at 2:25
Their musicianship never ceases to amaze me.
Hey Sumerian, this was 6 months ago. Asking Alexandria sucks. Please show us more of the new Faceless record.
Seconded
yes.
I imagine itll be out by next year at the latest
+TheMeatballMen They shouldn't even be on the same label.
+Daniel Collette they really shouldn't.
The Faceless is back✊🏼
+Nathan Donias yeeeeeee
So is Evan!
+Noah Papafagos This is actually original bass player Brandon playing, Evan is in another band now.
+Sam Garcia any clue who's on drums?
+Seth Young It's Chason Westmoreland who plays with Hate Eternal these days.
My head is going to burst with anticipation for the rest of the album! This was sick as a dog.
i'm crying for how epic is this song. THANK YOU FACELESS
Yes.
Yeeeeah!
Beautiful. This takes me back to 2006-2008 when all the bands on Sumerian now came out with their best albums. It's good to see The Faceless sticking to their roots
This was released a year ago today and still there's no update on the new album. God damnit.
You pissed off the gods! Again.
It took me till thursday to get the shirt i bought from them back in fuckin august............god
they're going Necrophagist
Alfonso Uriarte You should never go _full_ Necrophagist!
lmao. nice one
Keene's songwriting is out of this world.
if only the whole album was produced and sounded this fantastic, what a shame
this and Black Star are on a different level to the rest
@@dankmeme5196 Big agree. The album has the worst production I have ever heard.
@@Draggo. plus this version of spiraling void sounds way better IMO than what made it on the album.

Been listening to the faceless since like 2009
they just keep releasing great tracks every year. we have micheal keene to credit for keeping the projects alive.
I wonder how many times has the lineup changed since they released this song
easy to talk shit, but I seem to recall one of the greatest DM bands ever had the same issue what was that band called again? oh yeah DEATH.
drummerdude0515 Death's overrated as fuck. It's like the Iron Maiden of Death Metal.
the point is a lot of great bands have constant line up changes
so overrated band which influenced an entire subgenre called technical death metal. Chuck schuldiner was 20 years ahead of any other 90s band, every album is different and u can clearly listen to ann evolution of the music. It's all because Keene, even though he's one of the best that have ever lived, is a big fucking premadonna.
I've easily listened to this 50 times today and it's not even noon yet. Loving this. NEED MORE NEW FACELESS NOW. K thanks.
I fucking screamed when I saw this.
Same!
Yes

I'm taking a shit in the restroom at my school and I screamed

Lmao i was thinking the same thing lol 😜😜😜😏
It has already taken me 5 years
Trust me i tried that... it'll never happen
5 years later.. and?
this band can have different members every week and still never release bad material...TAKE MY MONEY!
You people are never satisfied, jesus fuck. This is fucking amazing, I can't wait for a full album to come out! Keep it up, The Faceless! \m/
+Metal555Fan what are you talking about man? everyone's happy :D

I love this band 🤟🏻
Such a cool band. Really pleased to have Michael Keene feature on my bands album, please release a new album soon
hey its been almost a fucking year and still no info on the album minus the fact that it MIGHT be called In Becoming A Ghost
I'm right there with you
Bruce Sprague im so pissed about it fucking lazy asses need to hurry up
Well, their vocalist ended up quitting on them. Again. Not much they could do about that.
+Swagu I wonder why. he was beast and plus, the faceless is one of those bands you need to skill level to keep up.
They don't owe you anything.
waited so many years for this. damn faceless.
Cmon new album! Im starting to think maybe this was just a B-side from Autotheism. 3:51 on is just killer.
One of my favourite songs by these guys
It's like Autotheism and Planetary Duality had a baby
Brought a smile to my face after a really really shitty day. Glad to see them release a new song after all this time!
Guys, this isn't an album announcement. Remember Subject Zero? could be another 2 years before we have a new album.
When I found out about this song, the first thing I thought was "fuckers are about to pull a Subject Zero on us..." Same label, too, although I'm not gonna base my opinion on that. :-p
No, it was an album announcement. The vocalist just quit on them so they had to put it off.
+Swagu Anything to back that up?
Apparently they are still working on it, but I'm not sure how it'll work without a vocalist.

So.. Where's the album?
Got me through a tough time. Beautiful song.

"Marigold" riff at 2:49 lol
omg
The first half of the bar kind of, but then the second half is just a repeat of the first where in Marigold it goes up higher. Also just sounds similar because they are both in 7 time

I hear elements from all three albums in this one song. I can't wait for this new album to drop!
This is not hating on any bands (because I'm a fan of both) but it's funny how this and bands like I See Stars are on the same label.

They have a bunch of shifty bands. But they also have Circa Survive and The Faceless. So Sumerian. they be cool.

just two words: fucking amazing.
love it, it has some elements from akeldama I'm sure the album will follow with this. Don't keep us waiting too long Keene!

This is MAD! Also sound production is top notch.

1. dat bass 2. dat soulful solo 3. dat vibe 4. dat face

In Becoming A Ghost

Sooooooo damn good. I love everything they've released. This is gonna be fantastic.
where's the rest of the album damn it!!!?
Please check in Spotify . Maybe have
