The Song "Blue was written for Patsy Kline but she died in a plane crash before she could record it... When they heard LeAnn Rimes sing, they thought how much she sounded like Patsy Kline and they found this song and had her sing it. It was her first big hit. If you really like country music especially OLD country you might want to look up Patsy Kline, she has many big hits back in the late 50's early 60's ...Crazy....She's Got You.... Sweet Dreams...Walkin after Midnight....so many good songs and she has a very Unique voice you just have to hear it to understand. LeAnn Rimes is the closest to her voice I've ever heard. They made a movie about her life called "Sweet Dreams". She was also one or Lorreta Lynn's ( another legendary country singer ) friends, who also had a movie made about her life "Coal Miners Daughter". which was also the name of one of her biggest hits.
Blue was originally written for Patsy, but she died before getting the song. The writer held on to it for years. At a county fair he heard LeAnne singing, and thus offered it to her. History made.
A whole lot of soul for a 13 years old. Album released on July 9, 1996. This was her third album but her first on a major label. This is a country song.
A great song written by Bill Mack in 1958 to be sung by Patsy Cline who passed before she could. Bill heard LeAnn singing at age 12 (?) and knew this was for her. Yes! Your suspicion is well found. In the 1950's both Country and the Blues was played by the " Big Band" players where you also have Jazz and Swing. Genres mingled. Great song. Great Reaction RND! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼
You are correct there are blues and jazz elements in the music. The roots of U.S. "country music" come from very rural southeastern United States mountain-region folk music, but there were also very early influences from blues and African American folk-type music as well. In the United States, jazz has influenced virtually every other genre of music to some extent. Many of the early settlers in the southeastern United States, particularly in the mountainous regions of the Appalachians were people of Scottish/Irish descent which contributed to the development of very unique phonics and speech patterns many of which produce very noticeable and distinctive sounds in music vocals. There is also a lot of use of a technique called "vocal cry" in country music as well. All of these things, and more contribute to the unique sound of U.S. country music.
She won the Masked Singer a few years ago as the Sun. The compilation of her performances is worth watching, particularly her last song on the show, The Story.
Originally written and released by country artist Bill Mack in 1958, Rimes’ re-imagining of the song resurfaced the story of a man’s realization that a lover’s words were just lies. Told from a male’s perspective, Mack insisted that the song was never about Patsy Cline but it was meant for her to record. Mack died in 2020 from COVID-19.
From WWII documentaries I heard something similar, with that style of singing. Excellent music, singing, lyrics, that's why they are musical styles that come back. Greetings from Peru.
Great reaction, Rere! LeAnn's voice in this song is very reminiscent of singer Patsy Cline. You will have to react to her also! I absolutely love the variety you are putting out on your channel!
It's a relatively recent recording---well maybe 20 years old but definitely "old or traditional country as opposed to the current records. Her voice is amazing but listen also to the pedal steel guitar which is beautifully played.
I would put it this way. Definitely the style of country music. The instruments, vocals, arrangement are pure country. But lyrically, emotionally the feel of the song is blues. So sounds country feels blues? Hey, as someone once said ,even cowboys get the blues. By the way LeAnn’s mother and my older sister were best friends through high school (late sixties) and beyond. Her mom was over at our house often. Looking back at that time it is strange thinking what life had in store.
Study her yodel's as a vocalist. Watch it on a spectrum analyzer. Seriously she is one of the greatest female vocalists next to Whitney Houston! LeAnn is a close 2nd to Whitney who had that range, power, and lack of better term but like a guitar sustain. You should listen to more LeAnn and get those feels. Super strong vocalist longer than you've been alive.
This was released in 1996 - she did not write this song so she is not "talking about" anything - she is just singing someone's song - sometimes a little research would help - this is all country - blues has to do with the scales the songs are played on and jazz is a whole different genre
I hate genres but to me this was a country song and I never paid much attention to it till I heard a young woman named Haley do it on a reality show th-cam.com/video/BYCqowuYB5I/w-d-xo.html and I have been a huge fan of Haley ever since.
She's only 13 years old when this was recorded.
What 😱
Sends shivers, 13 and sounded. 30!
The Yodel queen!!! ❤
Unreal Voice control. Especially at 13 yo!!!
Great Reaction.......
Now for the Shocker - - LeAnn was 13 when she recorded this.......

I remember hearing this new on the radio back then and was amazed at her voice. And she was 13 at the time. Wow.

Artists like to be able to change up and explore.
+Many of the country singers , as well as early rock and roll singers started singing in those Southern { mainly Baptist } churches
I love that one, she was such a wonder at 12-13 years old! She still is, though.

LeAnn is a sweety with a great voice and look. Hope you like her. This a fifties era, bobby sox and poodle skirt tune covered in a new era.

I can't wait to see her in concert in January. And it's at a small venue that has really good acoustics!
After patsy passed, song was locked away for 40 ys until they found someone who could sing it
still listen to this c.d. I bought back in the mid 90s.
Great reaction, Rere! LeAnn's voice in this song is very reminiscent of singer Patsy Cline. You will have to react to her also! I absolutely love the variety you are putting out on your channel!
She looked and sounded too good for a 13 year old! I saw her live front row seats when she was 18!
It's a relatively recent recording---well maybe 20 years old but definitely "old or traditional country as opposed to the current records. Her voice is amazing but listen also to the pedal steel guitar which is beautifully played.
