Exit Music (For a Film) by Radiohead is probably one of the most bittersweet songs I have ever heard. Personally, nearly matches the beauty of How to Disappear Completely but also has the most powerful and beautiful ending to any song I've ever heard.

Wesley's Theory by Kendrick Lamar is just so powerful and is one of the best album openers of all time. It sets the stage perfectly for the themes and narrative of the album, and the production and features are utterly unmatched.
My favourite song of all time is Nude by Radiohead for sure. The string arrangements, Phil’s drum groove in 6/8, Thom’s falsetto and relatable yet cryptic lyrics, Jonny and Ed’s guitar licks, not to mention that insane bassline from Colin. It is the perfect song to me; it has all this detail yet it’s so stripped back. It is everything and nothing simultaneously.

Motion Picture Soundtrack by Radiohead- Everything about this song is dripping with a distinct sadness, not melancholy, that hits so different on some pretty dark days. If How To Disappear convinces someone out of suicide, Motion Picture is what happens when they actually commit it. It's one of those songs I actually DON'T listen to because of its emotional weight. I don't wanna ruin it's magic and, at the same time, afraid to even confront it.
It's the most magical song I've ever heard. Coupled with some of the snowy kid a blips it gives a feeling like no other. A song not to listen too much but only during winter.
Be quiet and drive (far away) -deftones. The vocals are so haunting and so beautiful. The screams sound so desperate and in pain. I don't know how to explain it it's just the best
Let Down by Radiohead is always the song I keep coming back to when I think of my favorite song of all time. It was the turning point of what made me realize how great Radiohead really are, and it has always helped me through difficult times. The guitar layers just come together in such an ethereal way, it has easily Thom Yorke’s best vocal performance ever, and some of the absolute best lyrics he ever penned. OK Computer is an album with songs like Paranoid Android and No Surprises on it, and Let Down somehow manages to top even those (all just my opinion of course).
Great song. For my favorites on that album it’s soooo hard to choose. For me, my favorite is probably Paranoid Android but I’ve listened to that song soooo many times that it’s lost it’s luster for me just a bit. All the songs on that album are just so consistently good.

Let it happen by Tame Impala fucking deserves a spot on this list. Such an amazing, fun, epic and ridiculously catchy song, man! And the guitar riff at the end is simply ecstasy in musical form. Easy 10/10.

Though Comfortably Numb is a great song in its own right, I believe that Echoes is a 10/10. Not only did it define the groups infamous sound, but it also showcases every members strengths leaving little room for their weaknesses. It's practically a 23 minute long aquatic/etheric jam session. The vocals don't crowd the song and they leaves enough space for the music to climax to a unforgettable finale. I'm not a huge Pink Floyd fan and I know this might be redundant after reviewing meddle recently, but I thought it was still worth the mention.
It’s not nearly as good as some of their other epics. Dogs, Shine On, Sheep. Echoes is great and the guitar at the end is amazing. It’s just that the ambience is a little annoying and a lot of it is just an average psych rock jam track
Beach House - Space Song / Myth. These guys have various of the albums of the decade, they have a heavy impact in the indie/ambiental pop scene. They know how to create beautiful and evolving atmospheres. Death Grips - Beware / Hacker. These guys are artistically crazy, lots of experimental and mysterious energy and power Amy Winehouse - Rehab / Back to Black. A short career and a sad history but an endlessly influence with one of the best albums of all time Jeff Buckley - Grace. The album Grace and the covers of Buckley are an statement for a lot of the further works. This guy is a huge influence in a lot of amazing bands (Radiohead, Coldplay, Muse, and so on). Pretty much the same as Amy, but one name that shouldn't be forgotten Coldplay - Strawberry Swing / Cementeries of London / or 42. Viva la Vida is an amazing album with a lot of underrated gems with the warmth of Coldplay's best sound. Songs full of nostalgic and sweetness. Everybody should listen, even Frank Ocean made a cover of Strawberry Swing. David Bowie - Life on Mars / Blackstar and a bunch more. Bowie is iconic, nothing else to say Prince - Purple Rain / Kiss / When Doves Cry. Iconic 80s sound, artistic catchiness, amazing performances Michael Jackson - Billie Jean / Beat It and I'm just talking about Thriller. That killer baseline, the power of Van Halen's solo, man, Jackson forever I could list even more songs, but this gonna be long...
Based Beware and Hacker enjoyer. Definitely their two best songs by a mile. Beware is insane, I have genuinely never heard anything that sounds like it.

Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles. One of my favorite Beatles tracks because it's a stylistic outlier from the sound people usually associate them with. Also, the lyrics turn the mundane into something both celebratory and depressingly at the same time.
I mean it’s a great song but I feel like stuff from Magical Mystery Tour and Sargent Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band surpasses it. It could be argued as the best Revolver song though, even though it’s not my personal favorite
Earthmover by Have a Nice Life Has the noisiest most brutally overpowering ending to any album I’ve heard. Nothing in music has caught me that off guard to this day. I nearly shat myself in amazement. It lives up to the name of the track
That Arcade Fire album gives me goosebumps. The progression is masterful. In the Backseat is such a beautiful climax to the album. You HAVE to listen to that album on stream.

Bjork - Hyperballad : The way she changed pop with her debut album made a great chapter in modern music , but with her second LP she just reached another level very far away of what many musicians was doing. In Post, Bjork left behind the mainstream pop for the Avant Garde electrónica and edgy sounds of that era. Hyperballad is a rush , a complete tríp where the strings melody matches perfectly with the beats and then... The song just grow and grow in a perfect elevated final part that takes me to one of the finest crescendos in popular music story.
Redbone by Childish Gambino. I can listen to this song regardless of what mood / mental state I'm in. The instrumental is just mesmerizing and Donald's vocals paired with it just brings about this feeling of serenity, regardless of the subject matter of the song. Ludwig Göransson is an amazing producer and the fact that he was getting tv show / movie contracts back in 2014 and still wanted to work with Donald just shows how much respect the music industry has for Gambino. Easily one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs ever made, and a easy 10 from me.
Sometimes by My Bloody Valentine would have to be a top pick for me. I simply can't resist the warm fuzziness of the guitar and the softness of Shields' voice. The way it weaves the synthesiser into the mix later in the track always takes me by surprise too.
One of my favourite songs of all time is "I Know The End" by Phoebe Bridgers. The lyrical themes of existential dread and lack of purpose in life just hit me every time. "A haunted house with a picket fence to float around and ghost my friends" is one of my favourite lines in a song ever. Also, structurally, it's amazing. The slow build to that cathartic ending is perfectly executed, and listening to this song makes me feel healed.

Weird fishes / arpegi by Radiohead this song makes me feel so happy and hopeful it just brings this warm feeling whenever I listen to it. The buetiful stacked guitars and thom Yorkers voice really makes this song amazing. I always get the same feeling as I would as a child when my parents would tell me not too worry and everything will turn out good
"Heroin" by Velvet Underground is for me the best song of all time. Theme, Music and Lyrics match perfectly. All I can say is this song literally feels like taking Heroin in the late 60ies AND I FEEL THAT SHIT SOOO HARD! "Where is my mind? " also a great pick.
Love Venus in Furs, possibly the most sensual piece of music. The electric viola truly gave it that twisted fantasy. Shame musicians today can’t channel these dark urges of drugs and sensuality without literally screaming it in your face.
Tonight tonight by the smashing pumpkins is one of the best songs I have heard. I love the orchestral arrangements and it stands out in an album that is full of dark and angry grunge songs I hope to see it on the next video cause I think it deserves a spot there.

fade to black - metallica is probably my favourite song ever made. the lyrics are crushing and the instrumentals are beautiful and the build up to the end is insane.
One of my favorite songs ever is One by Metallica. I feel like One and Fade to Black are structured almost the exact same way actually. like with the build up and the instrumentals used in the beginning and all the way through the end evolve the same way and the lyrics give off a similar vibe too. Fade to Black is really good i just love One because so many of the instrumentals give me goosebumps and the lyrics i think are just have a wee bit more depth to them than Fade to Black.

As someone who considers Pink Floyd to be the greatest band ever concieved and The Wall to be their greatest album, I rarely ever listen to individual songs from it. In fact, i think most Pink Floyd songs are hurt pretty badly when separated from the context of the album. There are of course exceptions like Wish you were here like you mentioned, but i think their best individual track is by far Echoes. If that song was made into an EP I'd probably put it above Wish you were here in terms of albums, it is an incredible experience.
Pink floyd is my favorite band of all time, but I can't stand the wall. They ditched their psychedelic, progressive rock sound which was part of what made them so good. There's also a lot of filler on that album and Roger waters has a very whiny voice for some reason. He sang just fine in previous albums. I think the best pf album is meddle.
Sound and Vision by David Bowie is one of those songs you can’t imagine being written by a human being. All the melodies and rhythms assemble a fantastic groove that would fall apart if one element was to be left out. The lyrics may seem simple and insignificant at first, but do carry a sentiment of being in awe of the senses enabling us to experience the universe we live in. Due to this, it is as great of a song the first time I heard it to the last.

Arcade Fire are genuinely one of the greatest bands ever. Funeral is a poetic, theatrical masterpiece. Paints a story of nostalgia, suffering, joy, makes your childhood feel like the present again. Absolutely phenomenal record.

Impossible Soul by Sufjan Stevens is a 25 minute long pop behemoth that explores more sounds and ideas than most albums. No dull moment to be found and a true journey to behold. It’s both pleasant, emotional, uplifting, and even downright catchy at parts.

My favorite song of all time is Me and Your Mama by Childish Gambino. When this song came out it immediately blew my mind because Donglover had never even done anything besides rapping and a lil bit of singing, and this song just straight up blew me away, I was in awe and listened to it nonstop that whole year
Grace by Jeff Buckley. IMO one of the best vocal performances of all time. Has led me to so much more beautiful music, but there is nothing just quite like it. Everything about it is perfection, and I feel that most people would agree.
Leave it in my Dreams- The Voidz. It has to be genuinely one of the most entrancing songs I have ever listened to. I love the range of the vocals and the instruments which bend the mood of the song throughout. The song goes from keeping you slightly on edge to drifting with a floaty guitar solo in the middle to back on edge.
I commented “All my friends” by LCD Soundsystem on the original post, but I want to add “If I had a heart” by Fever Ray, the song is a perfect example of minimalist songwriting done perfectly. It’s atmosphere is impeccable and it has some of the most memorable and impactful lyrics I’ve ever heard, possibly the single strongest vibe imo 10/10
Desire -Talk Talk Absolutely cataclysmic. The climax of the song feels like 2 waves, one being the high cowbell percussion and the other being the low roaring guitar, stacked on top of each other and crashing down on you until they are brought together by the final chorus. Orgasmic.
Long Season by Fishmans absolutely deserves a mention, a serious masterpiece in composition, really fills out its 35 minute runtime with some of the most beautifully interlaced riffs I've ever heard anywhere. Every single new instrument or section added changes the melodic, rhythmic, and emotional context of the rest of the song, making it feel like it's constantly evolving even through its relatively sparse instrumentation. Utterly beautiful, like almost nothing else I've ever heard
Marvin Gaye - Whats going on Beautifuly orchestrated with a great message and lyrics. Just one of the greatest songs ever on one of the greatest albums ever

Slint - Good Morning, Captain Few albums build such a bleak, chilling atmosphere like Slint did with Spiderland and Good Morning, Captain is the epitome of just that. Brian McMahan’s hushed vocals drowned out in the mix as these gritty, wailing guitars build this wall of suspense until it eventually explodes and you hear these gut-wrenching cries of ‘I miss you’ in a cavalcade of guitars. I love the lyrics too, the atmosphere is built through the telling of a disturbing story of a captain who loses everything. A perfect end to a perfect album. 10/10
One of, if not my favorite song is Tender by Blur. It's such an uplifting track on one of my favorite albums ever, and I never get tired of hearing it. It's gotten me through some rather stressful moments in my life and it always puts me in a great mood every time I hear it Battle by Blur is another great choice. I think it's one of the most experimental songs in Blur's discography and it creates such an unsettling but very compelling atmosphere
For Blur, my favourite would probably have to be Sing, that whole album I love (even if Damon doesn't!) That album was my first real introduction to shoegaze and, whilst Sing isn't as shoegazey, for an instrumental (well not really but counts) it is absolutely beautiful and there's something special about it. Although if you asked me as a kid I would've said Trouble in the Message Centre off of Parklife 😂
I want Wind to Blow -The Microphones The opener to my favorite album of all time has got some of the greatest lyrics, one of the most enthralling atmospheres and most beautiful production in music ever.
The entire album is a work of art, but I've always felt "I Felt Your Shape" was the best song on the album. The realization of all that was lost is haunting.

OK that my seems weird but I feel like my warm blood is my favourite song from the glow pt 2. Yes it is not the one I would listen to the most but it still stands as one the most chilling song I have ever heard. If you actually sit through the painful 'samuraï attack' and all of my warm blood it literally makes you feel like you're dying. There is so much attention to detail that it makes the whole 9 mins not boring.

Don't see a lot of metal so I'll recommend "Holy Wars...The Punishment Due" by Megadeth, "Painkiller" by Judas Priest, and "Crystal Mountain" by Death. All three are masterpieces of the genre that constantly evolve and change throughout their runtime. Give them a try!
"Funeralopolis" by Electric Wizard is a magnum opus of doom metal, and while I get doom metal isn't for everybody, it's worth giving it a listen regardless.
I Appear Missing by QOTSA. It is a song that creates feeling of void inside like one Josh Homme felt after waking up after coma. Feeling of "something" that was always a part of you missing is so well portrayed. For me it's a adventure from powerless panic to feeling bliss of being somehow dead. Absolutely gorgeously forged song.
I'm failing to see enough love for Kate Bush in the comments, so I'm humbly going to recommend "Sat In Your Lap", the song that opens her fourth and most underappreciated album: 'The Dreaming'. That track is a seminal moment in her career. I understand why 'Hounds of Love' gets all the acclaim: that album is a fucking 10/10 and perfectly balances her pop bangers with her innovative instincts. But 'The Dreaming' is such a cinematic experience. The context also helps: Everyone at the time thought Kate lost her mind. The whole album is crazy, theatrical and way more experimental than her first three records, which are more ballad and pop-oriented (ok, maybe Never For Ever isn't as much ballady as the first two but still the gap between that one and The Dreaming is gigantic). "Sat in Your Lap" is such an auspicious opener for such a masterpiece of a record. (EDIT: corrected some grammatical errors😅sorry. english not my 1st language)

Funny, New Grass crossed my mind, I always feel enchanted by that main melody and how something so simple sounding can keep you on board for almost 10 minutes.
You've gotta listen to "A Day In The Life" by the Beatles When John's vocals come in it gives me the chills. The buildup put in a few times throughout the song is unlike anything I've ever heard.
Siegfried by Frank Ocean - the way it just develops from different ways to explore sadness both in its lyrics and its instrumentation is heart-wrenching. You need to listen to Björk, her voice is incredible and her music is so unique. My favourite song by her is Jóga (probably my favourite song of all time). This song is so huge and cinematic and the imagery transports you to another planet. She is hands down better than any pop artists around today.
All great Radiohead tracks but my favorite along with How to Disappear was Exit Music. I think it is objectively great, but the first time I had heard it was a deeply painful and emotional time in my life. I was sucked in by the guitar riff and thoms soft vocals. But when the verse came and he said “breath, keep breathing” this emotional wall came down followed by tears.
I think this video and the comments kinda just prove why radiohead is one of if not the best band out there. I could name 10+ radiohead songs that could be in this video and they’d all be equally incredible.
Contact by Daft Punk is possibly the best electronic song of all time. It has super intricate live drumming, super gritty distorted bass chords, chilling space age sounding arpeggios crawling up and down the song. Its extremely intense, extremely energetic, and builds up one long overwhelming monstrosity of a crescendo that hits critical mass and explodes and makes you feel like you are blasting off through the cosmos at the speed of light watching stars and nebulas blur past you like streaks of light. You feel it in your bones when you listen to it. It's insane. 10/10. Perfect song to close out a perfect album and a perfect career.
FIRST TIME I’ve seen anyone mention contact and bro I feel the same way. Just 2 weeks ago I was going 60 in the freeway and when the last 2 mins start I started slowly pushing the gas and was at 130 on the end. One of the most thrilling experiences of my life.
The new by Interpol is just so intense, beautiful and sad. The ramp up into the intense part is slow but when it hits it fucking hits. Also a fantastic creative baseline over distorted guitars that somehow works
As much as I’m not a huge fan of The Beatles entire discography, I can’t lie when I say my #1 best of all time is Yesterday. Some of the best lyricism of all time that sounds good as a kid, but the more you get older the more depressing and existential it gets. Fucking masterpiece. As well as the instrumental being as haunting and sad as it is. Really fits the lyrics.
One of my favourite songs of all time is Kid A. It's hard to explain but the complexity of the instrumental plus the robotic vocals made me feel such an intense feeling that no other song has ever done.

Knights of Cydonia by Muse I would say, I think the way the song reharmonised its intro to make the chorus is amazing, along with that 12/8 riff playing against the drums in 4/4. Plus the melody in the verse was very interesting too and the way they shifted down a major third during the repetition of the melody is genius as well. In addition, the futuristic sci-fi soundscape fused with the vibe of spaghetti westerns was also very intriguing. The fact that they wrote this song as a joke completely blows my mind.
Wild by Beach House, such a beautiful song. The slow start-up builds into a beautiful start when the lyrics begin and by the end it leaves you with this feeling of melancholy and almost a nostalgia, things that could have been or a failed venture. it is an incredible song.
Genuinely this whole album is insanely good at creating atmosphere and building tension, but specifically guest house from daughters album “you won’t get what you want” is probably one of my favorite song songs of all time. Terrifying. Bone chilling. check it out if you haven’t
White Ferrari by Frank Ocean is an absolutely heart wrenching, life changing track. It’s an ethereal journey through Frank Oceans psyche that you hear once and never forget.
You could pick a few songs from mezzanine by massive attack as the greatest ever but group four is absolutely mindblowing. The ending is absolutely fucking incredible.

My favourite song of all time is Nude by Radiohead for sure. The string arrangements, Phil’s drum groove in 6/8, Thom’s falsetto and relatable yet cryptic lyrics, Jonny and Ed’s guitar licks, not to mention that insane bassline from Colin. It is the perfect song to me; it has all this detail yet it’s so stripped back. It is everything and nothing simultaneously.

Motion Picture Soundtrack by Radiohead- Everything about this song is dripping with a distinct sadness, not melancholy, that hits so different on some pretty dark days. If How To Disappear convinces someone out of suicide, Motion Picture is what happens when they actually commit it. It's one of those songs I actually DON'T listen to because of its emotional weight. I don't wanna ruin it's magic and, at the same time, afraid to even confront it.

Let Down by Radiohead is always the song I keep coming back to when I think of my favorite song of all time. It was the turning point of what made me realize how great Radiohead really are, and it has always helped me through difficult times. The guitar layers just come together in such an ethereal way, it has easily Thom Yorke’s best vocal performance ever, and some of the absolute best lyrics he ever penned. OK Computer is an album with songs like Paranoid Android and No Surprises on it, and Let Down somehow manages to top even those (all just my opinion of course).

Though Comfortably Numb is a great song in its own right, I believe that Echoes is a 10/10. Not only did it define the groups infamous sound, but it also showcases every members strengths leaving little room for their weaknesses. It's practically a 23 minute long aquatic/etheric jam session. The vocals don't crowd the song and they leaves enough space for the music to climax to a unforgettable finale. I'm not a huge Pink Floyd fan and I know this might be redundant after reviewing meddle recently, but I thought it was still worth the mention.

Amy Winehouse - Rehab / Back to Black. A short career and a sad history but an endlessly influence with one of the best albums of all time
Jeff Buckley - Grace. The album Grace and the covers of Buckley are an statement for a lot of the further works. This guy is a huge influence in a lot of amazing bands (Radiohead, Coldplay, Muse, and so on). Pretty much the same as Amy, but one name that shouldn't be forgotten
Coldplay - Strawberry Swing / Cementeries of London / or 42. Viva la Vida is an amazing album with a lot of underrated gems with the warmth of Coldplay's best sound. Songs full of nostalgic and sweetness. Everybody should listen, even Frank Ocean made a cover of Strawberry Swing.
David Bowie - Life on Mars / Blackstar and a bunch more. Bowie is iconic, nothing else to say
Prince - Purple Rain / Kiss / When Doves Cry. Iconic 80s sound, artistic catchiness, amazing performances

In Post, Bjork left behind the mainstream pop for the Avant Garde electrónica and edgy sounds of that era.
Hyperballad is a rush , a complete tríp where the strings melody matches perfectly with the beats and then... The song just grow and grow in a perfect elevated final part that takes me to one of the finest crescendos in popular music story.

Redbone by Childish Gambino. I can listen to this song regardless of what mood / mental state I'm in. The instrumental is just mesmerizing and Donald's vocals paired with it just brings about this feeling of serenity, regardless of the subject matter of the song. Ludwig Göransson is an amazing producer and the fact that he was getting tv show / movie contracts back in 2014 and still wanted to work with Donald just shows how much respect the music industry has for Gambino. Easily one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs ever made, and a easy 10 from me.

One of my favourite songs of all time is "I Know The End" by Phoebe Bridgers. The lyrical themes of existential dread and lack of purpose in life just hit me every time. "A haunted house with a picket fence to float around and ghost my friends" is one of my favourite lines in a song ever.
Also, structurally, it's amazing. The slow build to that cathartic ending is perfectly executed, and listening to this song makes me feel healed.

One of my favorite songs ever is One by Metallica. I feel like One and Fade to Black are structured almost the exact same way actually. like with the build up and the instrumentals used in the beginning and all the way through the end evolve the same way and the lyrics give off a similar vibe too.
Fade to Black is really good i just love One because so many of the instrumentals give me goosebumps and the lyrics i think are just have a wee bit more depth to them than Fade to Black.

As someone who considers Pink Floyd to be the greatest band ever concieved and The Wall to be their greatest album, I rarely ever listen to individual songs from it. In fact, i think most Pink Floyd songs are hurt pretty badly when separated from the context of the album. There are of course exceptions like Wish you were here like you mentioned, but i think their best individual track is by far Echoes. If that song was made into an EP I'd probably put it above Wish you were here in terms of albums, it is an incredible experience.
That ending guitar riff is insane.
Pink floyd is my favorite band of all time, but I can't stand the wall. They ditched their psychedelic, progressive rock sound which was part of what made them so good. There's also a lot of filler on that album and Roger waters has a very whiny voice for some reason. He sang just fine in previous albums. I think the best pf album is meddle.

Sound and Vision by David Bowie is one of those songs you can’t imagine being written by a human being. All the melodies and rhythms assemble a fantastic groove that would fall apart if one element was to be left out. The lyrics may seem simple and insignificant at first, but do carry a sentiment of being in awe of the senses enabling us to experience the universe we live in. Due to this, it is as great of a song the first time I heard it to the last.

Impossible Soul by Sufjan Stevens is a 25 minute long pop behemoth that explores more sounds and ideas than most albums. No dull moment to be found and a true journey to behold. It’s both pleasant, emotional, uplifting, and even downright catchy at parts.

My favorite song of all time is Me and Your Mama by Childish Gambino. When this song came out it immediately blew my mind because Donglover had never even done anything besides rapping and a lil bit of singing, and this song just straight up blew me away, I was in awe and listened to it nonstop that whole year

Grace by Jeff Buckley. IMO one of the best vocal performances of all time. Has led me to so much more beautiful music, but there is nothing just quite like it. Everything about it is perfection, and I feel that most people would agree.

Leave it in my Dreams- The Voidz. It has to be genuinely one of the most entrancing songs I have ever listened to. I love the range of the vocals and the instruments which bend the mood of the song throughout. The song goes from keeping you slightly on edge to drifting with a floaty guitar solo in the middle to back on edge.
I commented “All my friends” by LCD Soundsystem on the original post, but I want to add “If I had a heart” by Fever Ray, the song is a perfect example of minimalist songwriting done perfectly. It’s atmosphere is impeccable and it has some of the most memorable and impactful lyrics I’ve ever heard, possibly the single strongest vibe imo 10/10

Absolutely cataclysmic. The climax of the song feels like 2 waves, one being the high cowbell percussion and the other being the low roaring guitar, stacked on top of each other and crashing down on you until they are brought together by the final chorus. Orgasmic.

Long Season by Fishmans absolutely deserves a mention, a serious masterpiece in composition, really fills out its 35 minute runtime with some of the most beautifully interlaced riffs I've ever heard anywhere. Every single new instrument or section added changes the melodic, rhythmic, and emotional context of the rest of the song, making it feel like it's constantly evolving even through its relatively sparse instrumentation. Utterly beautiful, like almost nothing else I've ever heard

Slint - Good Morning, Captain
Few albums build such a bleak, chilling atmosphere like Slint did with Spiderland and Good Morning, Captain is the epitome of just that. Brian McMahan’s hushed vocals drowned out in the mix as these gritty, wailing guitars build this wall of suspense until it eventually explodes and you hear these gut-wrenching cries of ‘I miss you’ in a cavalcade of guitars. I love the lyrics too, the atmosphere is built through the telling of a disturbing story of a captain who loses everything. A perfect end to a perfect album. 10/10

One of, if not my favorite song is Tender by Blur. It's such an uplifting track on one of my favorite albums ever, and I never get tired of hearing it. It's gotten me through some rather stressful moments in my life and it always puts me in a great mood every time I hear it
Battle by Blur is another great choice. I think it's one of the most experimental songs in Blur's discography and it creates such an unsettling but very compelling atmosphere

For Blur, my favourite would probably have to be Sing, that whole album I love (even if Damon doesn't!) That album was my first real introduction to shoegaze and, whilst Sing isn't as shoegazey, for an instrumental (well not really but counts) it is absolutely beautiful and there's something special about it. Although if you asked me as a kid I would've said Trouble in the Message Centre off of Parklife 😂

The opener to my favorite album of all time has got some of the greatest lyrics, one of the most enthralling atmospheres and most beautiful production in music ever.
The entire album is a work of art, but I've always felt "I Felt Your Shape" was the best song on the album. The realization of all that was lost is haunting.

OK that my seems weird but I feel like my warm blood is my favourite song from the glow pt 2. Yes it is not the one I would listen to the most but it still stands as one the most chilling song I have ever heard. If you actually sit through the painful 'samuraï attack' and all of my warm blood it literally makes you feel like you're dying. There is so much attention to detail that it makes the whole 9 mins not boring.
Please do Dance Yrself Clean for pt2. One of the greatest buildups in history, every instrument tuned to absolute perfection, and some thought provoking lyrics.
LCD soundsystem
Don't see a lot of metal so I'll recommend "Holy Wars...The Punishment Due" by Megadeth, "Painkiller" by Judas Priest, and "Crystal Mountain" by Death. All three are masterpieces of the genre that constantly evolve and change throughout their runtime. Give them a try!

I Appear Missing by QOTSA. It is a song that creates feeling of void inside like one Josh Homme felt after waking up after coma. Feeling of "something" that was always a part of you missing is so well portrayed. For me it's a adventure from powerless panic to feeling bliss of being somehow dead. Absolutely gorgeously forged song.

I'm failing to see enough love for Kate Bush in the comments, so I'm humbly going to recommend "Sat In Your Lap", the song that opens her fourth and most underappreciated album: 'The Dreaming'. That track is a seminal moment in her career. I understand why 'Hounds of Love' gets all the acclaim: that album is a fucking 10/10 and perfectly balances her pop bangers with her innovative instincts. But 'The Dreaming' is such a cinematic experience. The context also helps: Everyone at the time thought Kate lost her mind. The whole album is crazy, theatrical and way more experimental than her first three records, which are more ballad and pop-oriented (ok, maybe Never For Ever isn't as much ballady as the first two but still the gap between that one and The Dreaming is gigantic). "Sat in Your Lap" is such an auspicious opener for such a masterpiece of a record.

Siegfried by Frank Ocean - the way it just develops from different ways to explore sadness both in its lyrics and its instrumentation is heart-wrenching. It’s always felt to me like the moment where you’re crying and it just gets sadder and sadder no matter what you do. Always been my favorite song of his, destroys me each time.

BRAD ypu need to react to that whole Pixies album Surfer Rosa, nearly every other track on it is even better than Where is my Mind. Songs such as Bone Machine, Broken Face and Vamos are some of the great rock masterpieces of the 80s

You need to listen to Björk, her voice is incredible and her music is so unique. My favourite song by her is Jóga (probably my favourite song of all time). This song is so huge and cinematic and the imagery transports you to another planet. She is hands down better than any pop artists around today.
All great Radiohead tracks but my favorite along with How to Disappear was Exit Music. I think it is objectively great, but the first time I had heard it was a deeply painful and emotional time in my life. I was sucked in by the guitar riff and thoms soft vocals. But when the verse came and he said “breath, keep breathing” this emotional wall came down followed by tears.

Contact by Daft Punk is possibly the best electronic song of all time. It has super intricate live drumming, super gritty distorted bass chords, chilling space age sounding arpeggios crawling up and down the song. Its extremely intense, extremely energetic, and builds up one long overwhelming monstrosity of a crescendo that hits critical mass and explodes and makes you feel like you are blasting off through the cosmos at the speed of light watching stars and nebulas blur past you like streaks of light. You feel it in your bones when you listen to it. It's insane. 10/10. Perfect song to close out a perfect album and a perfect career.
FIRST TIME I’ve seen anyone mention contact and bro I feel the same way. Just 2 weeks ago I was going 60 in the freeway and when the last 2 mins start I started slowly pushing the gas and was at 130 on the end. One of the most thrilling experiences of my life.
The new by Interpol is just so intense, beautiful and sad. The ramp up into the intense part is slow but when it hits it fucking hits. Also a fantastic creative baseline over distorted guitars that somehow works

As much as I’m not a huge fan of The Beatles entire discography, I can’t lie when I say my #1 best of all time is Yesterday. Some of the best lyricism of all time that sounds good as a kid, but the more you get older the more depressing and existential it gets. Fucking masterpiece.
As well as the instrumental being as haunting and sad as it is. Really fits the lyrics.
One of my favourite songs of all time is Kid A. It's hard to explain but the complexity of the instrumental plus the robotic vocals made me feel such an intense feeling that no other song has ever done.

Knights of Cydonia by Muse I would say, I think the way the song reharmonised its intro to make the chorus is amazing, along with that 12/8 riff playing against the drums in 4/4. Plus the melody in the verse was very interesting too and the way they shifted down a major third during the repetition of the melody is genius as well. In addition, the futuristic sci-fi soundscape fused with the vibe of spaghetti westerns was also very intriguing. The fact that they wrote this song as a joke completely blows my mind.

Wild by Beach House, such a beautiful song. The slow start-up builds into a beautiful start when the lyrics begin and by the end it leaves you with this feeling of melancholy and almost a nostalgia, things that could have been or a failed venture. it is an incredible song.
