My old boys 13 now so I know what you’re saying. I went through a gate the other day and asked him which way we were going. A lady said to me ‘ does he get a choice’. I said yes he’s old and it’s his walk. His name is Malcolm. Great vlog.
I lost my dog just over a year ago and miss him a lot but i knew the time that i had him was so wonderful. Winston has such a wonderful owner you should be proud of your time with him. Absolutley love following yours and Winstons adventures.

You once mentioned having a bit of a temper in past years, if I can just bore you with a true story that helped my old mate Jeff in case it might help, it certainly changed him. He was on his way to an interview when an old duffer pulled out in front of him and then drove at 30 in a 60. To put it politely, he very much made his displeasure be known with a torrent of abuse. When he was picked up from reception by his interviewer, I bet you can guess who it was. I mentioned Dale Carnegie (yes, I know, the old bloke from the 60s), who has a quote to the effect be kind to everyone even if they have wronged you. You never know where you will meet them next, on the operating table, in a courtroom, as your house is on fire (maybe metaphorically), he said "think of politeness and courtesy as like a bank account. The more you deposit, the more you can draw on." Anyway, that’s enough from me for one evening, hope it helps. Graham

Well no more nipple twisters for you in Oban.. On a note closer to our hearts..You have a great bond with winston, clear for all to see.. much as you love him it wont be the end, we are on our third loving four legged family member and have loved every single one as much as the last, you never lose your memorys of them or the heartache the their passing will cause..however as long as i can look after them and draw breath, i will never be without my dog.. So chin up my dear and enjoy every day you have with him..
I only recently found your channel Roz and I really love your vids with Winston 🙂 We did consider a Go Pod but bought an Eriba Touring in 2012, not quite as tiny but still very small - esp with a 40 kg Golden Retriever on board with 2 adults 😄 We love the minimalist nature of caravanning with a small rig, despite the challenges in wet n muddy weather with a dog. We tour at least 3 months a year, but we're retired (early). The fact that you fit in long periods of touring with work and other commitments is testament to your love of the outdoors and being prepared to work at making it happen. Bravo! 👏👏👏
Working while travelling does come with difficulties, but we're making it work 👍🏼 I'm glad to hear you have found a caravan that works for you and wish you lots of happy adventures. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

I understand completely how you feel about Winston, you find yourself looking ahead & realising how much you love him & you need to appreciate every moment he's with you now. Our little cat is 16 & has lived with us for 10 years, she has health issues & I don't go away at all because things can go wrong so fast for her, it makes every day a special one & I know the space she's going to leave in my life one day will be huge. We're so lucky to have these furry family members sharing our lives but inevitably they're not here long enough. Loved the video, the pitch at the end is stunning.
Winston has still got a lot of life left in him, but I am still noticing him slow down as he gets older. Like you, I'm just trying to appreciate all the happy times we have together! ❤️ Thanks so much for watching 👍🏼

Roz. get yourself a reversing camera. I am a retired HGV driver with many years experience and I would not be without it! I have the camera set so I can see the hitch and never fail to be in a perfect position every time making hitching up easy. really enjoy your videos and are full of admiration of you.
Done lots of long ferry journeys with my dog seem to be ok with it - just leave them in their crate. Funniest one was Plymouth to Roscoff, guy in the lovely new Volvo had a black lab in the boot. Heard a scream when we returned to our car - his lab had escaped the boot and thrown up all over the drivers seat, poor guy had nothing to clean it with a resorted to covering it with a bin bag, complained that he then had to drive for six hours.
You can get small tubes of "plastic wood". Basically, it's sawdust in a resin paste in a tube. Squirt it into the enlarged screw holes and it sets in no time. Also,tip... Buy a large nylon reinforced "tarp", Halfords or similar very cheap, usually blue. Great for outside caravan or van rear doors to put dirty boots,dirty dawgs etc.on. Also for outdoor chair so you don't get muddy feet.
I understand how you feel about Winston. I too have done the same as you with my whippet. Before covid we toured all over scotland and the isles. My boy is 10 now and like Winston, healthy too. The memories i have from touring with him being a 12 week pup are fantastic. My van is sold atm so no touring, and i know he misses it. Enjoy every moment. Loved the ferry in this vlog. Happy memories of Oban on to the Outer Hebrides. Loved Barra too.

Stunning scenery, and what a fantastic pitch you've got there, right by the water. That Oban site was excellent value for money, apart from the dreaded shower nipple of course!! 😂 There's no doubt about it, if you get the weather, Scotland is second to none. Winston, as usual, steals the show.
Oban was a beautiful campsite and excellent value for money and I would stay again, even though I'm not a fan of the showers 😅🙈 At least the showers are free and you don't need to pay extra for them 👍🏼 I loved my pitch at Borve campsite on Barra; I couldn't stop looking out of the windows 😅 Thanks so much for watching 👍🏼
1)I bought a dog harness backpack for my dog. On long hikes and walks, my dog carried her own treats, water and carried out her own poo. I had a backpack for me, she had a backpack for her. Happy dog, happy me!! 2) That was a very very good idea with the wood dowel. You can use "wood glue" type to insert into the old cabinet hole, found at a B&Q to make it a permanent fix. It's stronger and waterproof glue (looks like a light cream/yellow color). Also a mix of toothpicks, wood shavings and wood glue make a good permanent fix. Just walk up to any old guy/woman working at B&Q. They will sort you out. Let the glue dry for a day, then screw in the original screw.
Yep, I would like to do that too, but Winston has an operation when he was 7 years old and had implants put in his spine, (I have a video about it on my channel) so I don't want him to be carrying extra weight on his back. Otherwise, I would totally do that! Instead, I've got to carry everything! (rolls eyes! lol)
Good afternoon you two, Great video The crossing was mastered very well. Thumbs up for that. For dog poop prey... Do you know Tupperware? These are airtight plastic containers. You can also store such poop bags safely in something like this until you can dispose of them. For the cupboard door that doesn't hold again, try using slightly longer wood screws and then screwing them in with wood glue and then not opening the door for a few hours so that the glue can dry. I feel your pain re, Spiral Shower, I'd hate that too, as I have extremely sensitive skin, I had a similar experience in hospital, maybe using a little plastic jug would help.

Just watched the latest episode, and can I just say that Winston was looking much more spritely and you could literally see the smile on his face. On arrival at Bara, and that camping pitch, you could see how happy you were to be there. I'm quite jealous, and can't wait to plan my next adventure, although it won't be for a while yet.
Winston is so cute 🥰 really enjoyed this. Yes I've been in showers like that here in America they are common I was told it's designed with higher pressure to remove mud and dirt from campers and hikers.
Hi Roz. You told us your caravanmover sometimes makes a funny noise, Mine does the same. I have my little Freedom caravan parket in my gravel yard. I found out that smalll pebbles gets stuck in the tire. And when they passes the metalwheel of the mover, it makes this grinding noise. Try to clean of your tire and take Whinston and the Pod for a little walk on a grass surface. By the way. The time Whinston looks the most charming is when he looks back at you. Thank you, but the mover didn't have any stones or gravel in it and it made the noise on all surfaces, even after I had cleaned it. The bearings had gone in the roller and it had become loose. I'm now back at home and the warranty guy came and fixed it last week 👍🏼 Thanks so much for watching and following our adventure 😀😀

I am enjoying watching your trip. I'm scheduled to take a 7 hour ferry from the island of Newfoundland to the mainland of Canada in a couple of weeks. Our ferries aren't as dog friendly though. Our options are to keep the dog in the vehicle (and as with your ferry, we aren't allowed to go to our car during the voyage), or we can have the dog in a kennel on one of the decks for the whole trip, or we can rent a pet-friendly cabin for an exorbitant fee. I am taking an overnight ferry and will have my dog in the pet-friendly cabin with me. But we can't just have our dog on deck. The good thing about an overnight ferry is it doesn't seem as long for the dog, or the human. My dog will pee before we go onboard and then when we get off (although there is a place near the kennels where the dogs can pee and poop). I kept my dog in the vehicle one time during a return trip, and she acted like I had totally betrayed her. She obviously thought she was going to be able to come to a cabin with me, and when I walked away leaving her in the car barking at me, I felt so guilty. She gave me a piece of her mind when I went to the car the next morning!
I think I would have opted for a pet-friendly cabin aswell. 7 hours is a long time to be in a vehicle or crate. I thinks it’s worse because we can’t explain to them what’s going on and they feel as though they’re just left 🙈 We take 4 ferries on this trip, some of them are really short and Winston does stay in the van and it got him use to the fact that he’s not being abandoned and I will be coming back, and by the last ferry, he just curled up and went to sleep 😂 Best of luck on your ferry journey, I hope you have a smooth crossing. If I can offer a tip on the cupboard door screws because I have had this issue in my little Elddis caravan , before screwing the screws back in put a tiny drip of glue on the screw threads(super glue or wood glue) and screw them back in, they wont budge with the towing vibration , its just another bit of adhesion for the threads to grip on because the wood expands and contracts with heat and moisture and that allows the screws to work loose, they can still be removed with a screw driver if you ever need to remove the doors for maintenance. Excellent video as ever you are good at telling a story with no waffle very informative too.

If you mix super glue and baking soda it makes an incredible compound. Put it in the screw hole and it hardens and can be a fix!

Our little cat is 16 & has lived with us for 10 years, she has health issues & I don't go away at all because things can go wrong so fast for her, it makes every day a special one & I know the space she's going to leave in my life one day will be huge.
We're so lucky to have these furry family members sharing our lives but inevitably they're not here long enough.
Loved the video, the pitch at the end is stunning.
Winston has still got a lot of life left in him, but I am still noticing him slow down as he gets older. Like you, I'm just trying to appreciate all the happy times we have together! ❤️

Roz. get yourself a reversing camera. I am a retired HGV driver with many years experience and I would not be without it! I have the camera set so I can see the hitch and never fail to be in a perfect position every time making hitching up easy. really enjoy your videos and are full of admiration of you.

Done lots of long ferry journeys with my dog seem to be ok with it - just leave them in their crate. Funniest one was Plymouth to Roscoff, guy in the lovely new Volvo had a black lab in the boot. Heard a scream when we returned to our car - his lab had escaped the boot and thrown up all over the drivers seat, poor guy had nothing to clean it with a resorted to covering it with a bin bag, complained that he then had to drive for six hours.

You can get small tubes of "plastic wood".
Basically, it's sawdust in a resin paste in a tube.
Squirt it into the enlarged screw holes and it sets in no time.
Also,tip...
Buy a large nylon reinforced "tarp", Halfords or similar very cheap, usually blue.
Great for outside caravan or van rear doors to put dirty boots,dirty dawgs etc.on.
Also for outdoor chair so you don't get muddy feet.
Little tip for the screws. Put a toothpick in if you don't have a dowel. Your very self sufficient great to see.

I understand how you feel about Winston. I too have done the same as you with my whippet. Before covid we toured all over scotland and the isles. My boy is 10 now and like Winston, healthy too. The memories i have from touring with him being a 12 week pup are fantastic. My van is sold atm so no touring, and i know he misses it. Enjoy every moment. Loved the ferry in this vlog. Happy memories of Oban on to the Outer Hebrides. Loved Barra too.

Oban was a beautiful campsite and excellent value for money and I would stay again, even though I'm not a fan of the showers 😅🙈 At least the showers are free and you don't need to pay extra for them 👍🏼 I loved my pitch at Borve campsite on Barra; I couldn't stop looking out of the windows 😅

1)I bought a dog harness backpack for my dog. On long hikes and walks, my dog carried her own treats, water and carried out her own poo. I had a backpack for me, she had a backpack for her. Happy dog, happy me!! 2) That was a very very good idea with the wood dowel. You can use "wood glue" type to insert into the old cabinet hole, found at a B&Q to make it a permanent fix. It's stronger and waterproof glue (looks like a light cream/yellow color). Also a mix of toothpicks, wood shavings and wood glue make a good permanent fix. Just walk up to any old guy/woman working at B&Q. They will sort you out. Let the glue dry for a day, then screw in the original screw.
Yep, I would like to do that too, but Winston has an operation when he was 7 years old and had implants put in his spine, (I have a video about it on my channel) so I don't want him to be carrying extra weight on his back. Otherwise, I would totally do that! Instead, I've got to carry everything! (rolls eyes! lol)

Great video The crossing was mastered very well. Thumbs up for that. For dog poop prey... Do you know Tupperware? These are airtight plastic containers. You can also store such poop bags safely in something like this until you can dispose of them. For the cupboard door that doesn't hold again, try using slightly longer wood screws and then screwing them in with wood glue and then not opening the door for a few hours so that the glue can dry. I feel your pain re, Spiral Shower, I'd hate that too, as I have extremely sensitive skin, I had a similar experience in hospital, maybe using a little plastic jug would help.

Just watched the latest episode, and can I just say that Winston was looking much more spritely and you could literally see the smile on his face. On arrival at Bara, and that camping pitch, you could see how happy you were to be there. I'm quite jealous, and can't wait to plan my next adventure, although it won't be for a while yet.
Winston is so cute 🥰 really enjoyed this. Yes I've been in showers like that here in America they are common I was told it's designed with higher pressure to remove mud and dirt from campers and hikers.

You told us your caravanmover sometimes makes a funny noise, Mine does the same. I have my little Freedom caravan parket in my gravel
yard. I found out that smalll pebbles gets stuck in the tire. And when they passes the metalwheel of the mover, it makes this grinding noise.
Try to clean of your tire and take Whinston and the Pod for a little walk on a grass surface.
By the way. The time Whinston looks the most charming is when he looks back at you. You are falling behind. AGAIN.

Thank you, but the mover didn't have any stones or gravel in it and it made the noise on all surfaces, even after I had cleaned it. The bearings had gone in the roller and it had become loose. I'm now back at home and the warranty guy came and fixed it last week 👍🏼

I have poo bags in almost every pocket of every jacket (empty poo bags 😅)
I am enjoying watching your trip. I'm scheduled to take a 7 hour ferry from the island of Newfoundland to the mainland of Canada in a couple of weeks. Our ferries aren't as dog friendly though. Our options are to keep the dog in the vehicle (and as with your ferry, we aren't allowed to go to our car during the voyage), or we can have the dog in a kennel on one of the decks for the whole trip, or we can rent a pet-friendly cabin for an exorbitant fee. I am taking an overnight ferry and will have my dog in the pet-friendly cabin with me. But we can't just have our dog on deck. The good thing about an overnight ferry is it doesn't seem as long for the dog, or the human. My dog will pee before we go onboard and then when we get off (although there is a place near the kennels where the dogs can pee and poop). I kept my dog in the vehicle one time during a return trip, and she acted like I had totally betrayed her. She obviously thought she was going to be able to come to a cabin with me, and when I walked away leaving her in the car barking at me, I felt so guilty. She gave me a piece of her mind when I went to the car the next morning!
I think I would have opted for a pet-friendly cabin aswell. 7 hours is a long time to be in a vehicle or crate. I thinks it’s worse because we can’t explain to them what’s going on and they feel as though they’re just left 🙈 We take 4 ferries on this trip, some of them are really short and Winston does stay in the van and it got him use to the fact that he’s not being abandoned and I will be coming back, and by the last ferry, he just curled up and went to sleep 😂

If I can offer a tip on the cupboard door screws because I have had this issue in my little Elddis caravan , before screwing the screws back in put a tiny drip of glue on the screw threads(super glue or wood glue) and screw them back in, they wont budge with the towing vibration , its just another bit of adhesion for the threads to grip on because the wood expands and contracts with heat and moisture and that allows the screws to work loose, they can still be removed with a screw driver if you ever need to remove the doors for maintenance. Excellent video as ever you are good at telling a story with no waffle very informative too.
