There was something about the intro that the game feel so old-school in my eyes - so awesome to play. When I saw the first announcement trailer, the first pics ... I was like "I wish this game will come west."And it did. And it changed action RPGs forever.

Not like it’s a testament to anything anymore than what could have been, the slow methodical gameplay of Demon’s Souls and especially Dark Souls 1 is gone, now we just have FromSofts hack and slash games like Bloodborne, DS3 and Elden Ring. Garbage.

Lothias Kane I agree. I really felt the story in this. Perhaps a bit more beef and clarity would be welcome.
The opening is downright foreboding and troubling.
It's very inspiring, I feel the need to make some kind of a short D&D campaign that is Demon's Souls inspired.
Just need to think were to start and construct the story and setting.
Demon's Souls was my first Souls game and played it when it just came out and was 100% unknown..In contrast I haven't played Dark Souls 3 yet even though I am a veteran seasoned player and fan of the series and I preordered the game. The lure just isn't the same anymore. But I am eager to start soon.
DS deserves a Remster and Sequel. Imagine a buying Demon's Souls 2 plus DE Remastered for Ps4 or PC.

Warriors and sorcerers. I like to think that some of the warriors were actually battle mages too. Also in dark souls 2 there's this theory that Eleum Loyce is land connected to the broken archstone in demon's souls because Eleum Loyce looks similar to the 6th archstone area that you could hack into in demon's souls. Bare with me. In Eleum Loyce there's an armor set that looks very similar to Sage Freke's armor. The description says ""Hood/Robe/Manchettes/Trousers of a Forossan sage. Forossans venerated the god of war, and sages who led warriors into battle were called Northwarders. Northwarders earned their title only after completing a great journey of great hardship, after which they would be worshipped as oracles of the war gods". They were sorcerers who led warriors into battle. Sounds a lot like what's being shown in that scene. Imagine if some of those sorcerers also knew miracles and they were buffing and healing the warriors in the middle of battle. That's so awesome. Hope you were able to follow that.

As other people have said, it's not a reference, but it's just similar at the most basic level. They barely put any effort into Elden Ring's intro imo. It's just a few shots of concept art with a dramatic voice actor mentioning specific npc's that you'll meet or fight in the game. Meanwhile Demon's Souls intro gives you a ton of lore with a really interesting voice actor.

    • @nackskott12
      @nackskott12 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I agree that it would be awesome to see the kingdoms as they were at their peak, but I think ultimately it's for the best that we only see them once they've fallen. It adds another layer to the story, where there's the story itself, and then there's the player's journey of trying to figure it out. I think it really grounds you into the world, having to get into the mind of your character in the game and try to pick up the little details that make up a larger plot.
I think that's the part I love most about Soulsborne. Being grounded in a sprawling world with overarching mysteries to solve by paying attention and getting into the mindset of an adventurer. Blurring the line between character and player is something games can do in a way no other media can, and it's a damn shame even the games that try to ape Soulsborne dont attempt it.

BikerHM Whatever floats your boat. I personally think Demon's Souls is better. The pvp *which I typically avoid in ds1, 2 and 3* is a lot less laggy and glitchy *because it's ps exclusive dev's (or whoever) only have to worry about three or four servers* and the story was full of meat despite only being 70 or 80 percent done. And the community is good (some of it is like radioactive waste)
Dark Souls 1 was fun simply because you could start any way you wanted to as soon as you left the undead asylum, community was good for awhile before it went south.
While Dark Souls 2 is probably the best in the series when it comes to pvp I can't say the storyline is all too good. Community really began to get out of hand with the 'git gud' shit.
Dark Souls 3 I personally can't stand. Community is shit (and cancerous), enemies are hyper aggressive and the bloody storyline tries to mix in new things with old things making utter nonsense. I am aware Dark Souls 3 isn't a sequel (it should be noted the Miazaki hates making sequels) but it feels like the team tried too hard to please the audience. They caught wind that people liked how dark souls was 'hard' despite it being easy (it was made in a time where games went easy and held your hand) and decided to grant that wish in making dark souls 3 'too hard'. Granted there are good points in 3 but I just don't care for it. Kinda like PlagueofGripes (check the beautiful bastard out) in the sense.

Fitting profile pic bruh. ;) Although, do the soulsborne share the same universe? I don’t think so, but I could be wrong.

FromSoftware hate the kings, they all make the best for their kingdom and ended screwed xD and you must put them out of their misery :(

+damainmg King Allant was said to be benevolent, but he wasn't really. He recruited slaves, and sent them out as soldiers. I think, though, that this was a bit of a necessity, and that he came to see the suffering and pain in the world, even in his own kingdom. This is what prompted him to unite with the Old One.

I'm glad someone else mentioned this. Sorry it took 12 years for someone to reply to your comment too. It definitely reminds me of Gondor. Both cities are very beautiful.

Except Demon's Souls isn't an official Prequel. The Fog is only explained in Demon's Souls and fit in the lore. But its not the same universe, so Demon's Souls Lore und DS Series Lore aren't connected.

@@ryandunham1047 He have a good point, you just need stop for a second and realise that you can not die in this intro. Soo it is boring. Check Dark souls 2 intr you already committing suicide in that one and game start from that XD Gravity even got you in intro on it. We don't saw it but he probably read a message said jump for treasure or something like that XD

If you find this boring then fck off elsewhere. Seems to me like you lack the brainpower to understand or even listen to the lore being told. Your parents drop you on your head too many times as a baby? Or are you just naturally this fcking stupid?
