What do you do if you have a question where you are given a population and sample and they ask you to use the table of random numbers without replacement?
In case our sample is human beings, we always use table of random numbers without replacement. There is no meaning to count same person twice or more times in sample. Hence once a person is selected for sample, we do not replace him/ her back to population while we select next sample. In table of random numbers if we will get same number again, we will skip that and move to next number.
Mam, I am serving in office of the Pr. AG (Audit) Uttarakhand, Dehradun and nowadays, our office is conducting a performance audit on PMAY-G, so we want to know something about PPSWOR using random number table: 1. In first stage, we have to choose four districts from the State (Uttarakhand) using two strata as two divisions in the State namely Gharwal and Kumaun. 2. In second stage, we have to choose eight bocks choosing two blocks from each district. 3. In third stage, we have to choose 40 Gram Panchayts choosing five GPs from each block. So mam, my querry is: As we may choose districts from any row and any column, after that for choosing bocks and GPs, may we go from another row and another column breaking continuity.?
How do you ensure that all the 700 members of the population get a unique number? As some 3 digit numbers (greater than 700) from the random number table are not considered? This sample is drawn with replacement or without?
In simple random sampling, you need to assign unique no. to all the members of population. Digits greater than 700 are no considered as these digits do not make sense if our population is 700. Sampling is done without replacement because there is no meaning to draw same sample multiple times. Hope this helped!!
Thanks very much ma. I want to understand about the selection from random numbers by chosing a number whilst your eyes is closed and setting a table for the numbers.
You’re Welcome 🤗 It’s kind of same technique as I discussed in video with only 1 difference. In this, you will chose 1st sample by closing your eyes and pointing on any number in random number table instead of selecting 1st sample randomly with open eyes.
I have homework by this lecture your explain saved me
Thank you very much Dr. Sumeet
Thank you very much.. No such video like u exist in the youtube.. Thanks a lot
Thanks for explaining this topic in the simplest manner🙏
You’re most welcome🤗
Thanx mam its really worth it for me ..😊💝
You have nicely explained sampling theory 👍
Very nice presentation. Thanks ❤
Nice explanation ma'am
Thanks
Your nicely explained Thankyou madam
Thank you soo much ❤

Save my day thanks
Thank you ma'am
Helpful. Thank you
Very nice ma'am
is there a rule that we have to select from either right or left?
Thanks a lot doc
what if we get the same number again? specially if the sample size being selected is big
Is this Tippet's table?
Thank you maam
You’re most welcome 🤗
Excellent explanation mam
Thank You 😊 🤗

In my understanding yes, as every time it will be different sampling data
For better understanding, you can check my video on multistage sampling.
