Don't feel bad. Kevin is a prodigy. He was playing instruments from a young age, not just cello, but piano and saxophone, and went to Yale. He also spent time in China. He speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. Read some of his bios if you want to feel even more awed and intimidated!
Yes he did! Way to spit facts! He’s an anomaly along with a prodigy! Such an asset to Pentatonix. Think about it….what would they sound like without Kev?
I am 75 years old and can tell you truly that there are a lot of years left for you to rediscover your passion. you don't want to get to my age with regrets.
Kevin makes Pentatonix who they are, IMO. Being a drummer myself, I love his contribution to the group. Add to it his cello and singing....plus his non-music stuff...what an amazing young man!
Love me some Kevin. He really is a musical prodigy and just all around brilliant. He’s also a sweet and humble human being. Just love him. Thanks for sharing this ❤️
No matter how many times I hear that, it just blows me away. Kevin is so amazingly talented. Maybe you will be inspired to once again stretch your musically creative wings.
Kevin is such a genius and a musical genius. He has so many talents in him I can't believe he hasn't self-combusted. Can play multiple instruments, sing, beatbox, write, compose, speaks multiple languages, perfect pitch, as if that wasn't enough, he was pre-med at Yale. He is also a humble and wonderful human. Maybe when he is done making music, he can cure cancer and broker world peace.
Nope, he's playing the high D because it's in the song! You should listen to the original and you'll be even more amazed at Kevin's genius in this cover. (Also, Kevin has perfect pitch so he doesn't really need a pitch reference. Cellos have no frets, so it's not uncommon for cello players to have perfect pitch.)
KO one of the most talented peeps I can think of. Went to Yale going into medicine, played Carnegie Hall on Cello while he was in Highschool, Speaks Mandarin, sings, produces, beatboxes, Created the art form known as Cello-boxing where he does both at the same time...pretty sure he's an alien from another world....and does Pentatonix. Where's he get the time????? Great reaction man! Ya sham-wow dude did pass LOL.
I remember from one of the PTX videos (maybe a livestream?) he shared that he gets up really early and reads some Bible passages to inspire himself, AND manages to work out, AND does all of the other stuff. I think you may be right about the alien from another planet, he is like Superman! And his smile is so beautiful:) Now that he's a dad I'm sure he is slaying that as well.
It's never too late to share music. Even if you just do stuff locally or maybe you use your knowledge to help youngsters around your area get started. I'm just a few years older than you and this year I'm finally getting focusing on becoming a published author after a couple a decades as a nurse. I saw in a few videos you said your son has a book out. Congrats to him.
Yeah Kevin makes us ALL feel lazy and under accomplished haha! He's definitely a prodigy. I don't think he's ever done something and not mastered it. To top it off he's also a super nice person!
Kevin is a world class Cello and saxophonist. He has played at Carnegie hall With each instrument. Hi Also place keyboard. He speaks fluent mandarin and before joining Pentatonix he graduated from Yale In premed
I'm so happy that you reacted to Kevin's performance video. He is amazingly talented. I love the look of pure joy on his face when he plays music and performs. Everything on his TH-cam channel is great.
Started my day with this reaction and it makes me so happy to read all the Kevin love in the comments ❤️❤️❤️ Aren’t we lucky he took that flight across the country to meet some kids he didn’t even know???
Hes playing the piano note as a note in the song. He has perfect pitch. He is the only one in PTX with perfect pitch actually. He is so accomplished it makes me cry lol.
I read a bunch of your comments, yes he is all that! You are forgetting one of the things I always look for. His wonderful and contagious laughter. He can take a room of people and turn them all into balls of laughter. Just by laughing himself.
My Great-Grandfather was a string instrumentalist. His day job was a cabinet-maker (i.e. he made furniture). He was always poor, but I wish I could have heard him play the Cello or Violin. Peace, Love!
scott and mitch had a side project called superfruit. they do a cover of a beyonce and nikki manaj song, 'feeling myself'. you have to hear mitch rap..
Most, if ot all of PTX are prodigies who were skilled before training, but Kevin went to Yale to study the arts (I think it was Yale) - Kirstin got a full ride musical scholarship to OSU and I think the others were formally trained too. However, hours, days and YEARS of hard work cannot be replaced.
He is amazing He is by far one of the most talented people I have heard. He makes you want to get back into that music, doesn't he? 😀Have you had a chance to see them in concert yet? If the videos blow you away, wait till you see them in person. I enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing with us. ❤
OMG, im so glad i found you doing KEVIN!!! this is the very first one ive seen and the first song of his i listened to a few years ago.. this Man is the Bomb!!! AMAZING!!! 😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰
First Im loving your reaction your grin just radiates as this kid who I have one word for its Juilliard...be has so many real talents he could teach there or just bring joy in the world😍🙊🙉🙈
Thanks for your reaction- love KO! Today was your introduction to his electric cell,"Mr Carter" (named by his mother). He usually plays his regular cello, "Beyonce" when he is celloboxing with Pentatonix. There is an amazing video on You Tube of Kevin playing saxophone at Carnegie Hall when he was still a teenager in high school. It is called Kevin Olusola "From The Top: Live From Carnegie Hall-2005" and the performance and interview right after will blow you away!! Please react to that one.
Nah! He didn't need that piano note to know where to place his voice. Kevin actually has perfect pitch. He just keeps making the rest of us look bad. Seriously.
Oh, his sign of the times is better, in my opinion! You need to check out Scott Hoying, the lead of PTX, singing The A-Team and his cover of Red's I Should Tell Your Momma On You!!! Kevin has perfect pitch, he doesn't need the note!
Hello my Seat Pleasant Brother! I'm so happy you enjoyed Kevin so much. He comprises 20% of the five musical savants, Pentatronix. If you want to blow your hair back, view their rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody, Havana or the Christmas carol, Oh Come All Ye Faithful. After that, surf them to your hearts delight. later
Look at you! You have such a great face! I really enjoy watching your reaction videos and this was a really good one. I’m not previously familiar with this one at all but enjoyed it very much. We need to celebrate how talented these young people are!
Right?! How dare he!!! Come out here and F***ing have the NERVE to redefine genius for us. And remind me that I could've been musically awesome too if I hadn't given up. F***ing Kevin. Man he's awesome though! Hope he keeps rubbing my nose in it for a long time.
Kevin(KO) carries the beat in PTX so he only sings parts occasionally. Please take a look this mashup featuring KO for another view of his talent. MASHUP // Every Breath + 500 Miles // POMPLAMOOSE ft. KO.
I need a whole song from him with a looper of just his voice. I know he's just as talented on strings and piano, but as a deep base, and beat boxer that can go that high he could do a lot of those sounds with just his voice. And looper artists that just use their voices to make the song are so rare, but I think he could kill anything.
Hey Van you wanna know who inspired Marc Rebillet to do what he does? His name is Reggie Watts. Improv music comedian, band leader for ComedyBangBang and the Late Show with James Corden. Reggie is a genius!
Also Van, it's not too late to pick up your art again. I've been bedridden 10 years and gave up on life, a week ago was the first time in 9 years I held a brush but now I'm itching to pick it back up again. I've been fatally ill on and off from 17-29 the best years of my life supposedly gone. But after still having the same family members and friends at my back after those 10+ years I feel like nothing is impossible or too late to start again, and I didn't feel that way 3 weeks ago especially with my next birthday coming up. For you who makes us believe we can do anything as the man who has invited us into a bit of his life as we are ALL the LFR Family. I know you've helped many of us in the community through hard times, including my own. So I'd like to tell you this time that YOU can do anything you want to, and we BELIEVE in YOU!❤🌹

@@amyhuggins9920 YES! Aren’t we lucky they found Kevin??? I count it as a true blessing in this crazy world ☀️
@@AnjeannetteMarie-Swifie4Ever A true blessing for all of us!
and never too late to pick up your instrument again…sing…your face shows how much you are music
And has perfect pitch🥰
I am 75 years old and can tell you truly that there are a lot of years left for you to rediscover your passion. you don't want to get to my age with regrets.
Kevin makes Pentatonix who they are, IMO. Being a drummer myself, I love his contribution to the group. Add to it his cello and singing....plus his non-music stuff...what an amazing young man!
Don't forget- he also writes some of the music they sing!
Fun fact: That electric cello is named Mr. Carter. And his classic cello we normally see is named Beyonce lol. KO is a BEAST!!!!!!
He's just all around a musical genius. And he has perfect pitch, that note is just part of the song, not something he would need
Love me some Kevin. He really is a musical prodigy and just all around brilliant. He’s also a sweet and humble human being. Just love him. Thanks for sharing this ❤️
Kevin is so insanely talented. He and Matt did a Drum and Cello set on the PTX Evergreen tour.
It was so awesome to see!
❣❣❣❣❣❣Kevin is a freak of nature, in the best possible way!!! ❣❣❣❣❣❣
No matter how many times I hear that, it just blows me away. Kevin is so amazingly talented. Maybe you will be inspired to once again stretch your musically creative wings.

He's just plinking on the piano because he likes the way it sounds. He has perfect pitch.
Kevin is one of the most A-mazing humans on the planet 🥰 so much talent

Oh he is soooooo cute! That is my SPECIAL K! He is fluent in Mandarin and is a new daddy of a beautiful baby girl! AngelBoy ❤
He's not playing the D for a note -- he has perfect pitch. It's just to add texture to the sound. But yeah, he's phenomenal.
Hes playing the piano note as a note in the song. He has perfect pitch. He is the only one in PTX with perfect pitch actually. He is so accomplished it makes me cry lol.
Kevin is simply a gift of talent and sweetness to us all. I love him
And the smile on Kevin's face... "😅 Yeah, I did that! "
Kevin is AMAZING! Peace, Love!
I read a bunch of your comments, yes he is all that! You are forgetting one of the things I always look for. His wonderful and contagious laughter. He can take a room of people and turn them all into balls of laughter. Just by laughing himself.
Do it, you're young and have lots of time. Go do it for yourself even if you don't share it. ..you got this ❤
He is absolutely amazing. What a talented young man. I love it.

they did a Marvin Gaye.. let's get it ..on cover on the sing off you should hear wow wow wow
That one man jam is SO Satisfying!!!
Love your reaction. Just a huge smile the whole time. Whole time I was just waiting for you to see the end where he shreds the Cello.

Love your reactions
Now please do Kevin’s RENEGADE and we can watch you try to get your mind placed back inside your skull.
I love how delighted you are with him! Peace from Ohio …

This was the video that got him into PTX - someone sent it to Mitch, Scott & Kirstie when they were looking for a beatboxer.
OMG, im so glad i found you doing KEVIN!!! this is the very first one ive seen and the first song of his i listened to a few years ago.. this Man is the Bomb!!! AMAZING!!! 😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰

Amazing musician and singer! God bless him!
DAMN!!!!! Never heard this before! BLOWN AWAY!
I knew you would love and appreciate KO’s take on this song. It is an electric cello.
Darn... wish he was on camera doing his magic! Such an awesome sound!!
Your face as soon as KO started was priceless! Great reaction!
Awww….so glad you’ve reacted to this K.O. Masterpiece!! I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction and continue to watch your other reactions as well.
What an incredible musician he is!!
Wow! Just, Wow! Thank you for sharing! I hadn't seen this one until now.
Go touch that stuff man. What's stopping you? Start by jamming with these KO songs. You know you wanna. Great reaction man loved it.
He THEY ALL Give me CHILLS
Nah! He didn't need that piano note to know where to place his voice. Kevin actually has perfect pitch. He just keeps making the rest of us look bad. Seriously.
Somebody tell him about Kevin's 5th.😊
Kevin makes us ALL feel lazy! He can multi task on a whole ‘nother level!
Thanx for introducing me to this young man. Amazing!
KO is insanely talented, and the nicest guy in the world. You should listen to "Renegade" its another of his songs, it is amazing!!!
yeah, check out Renegade by him as well. Dude is a phenomenal talent. crazy that one human being has THAT much talent.
From what I just read he can do anything. anyone who can learn chinese (mandarin) I just read on the chat below me. I'm stunned.
It’s been said that Kevin has perfect pitch, so I think him playing the note was a stylistic choice versus giving himself the note.
Brilliant and unique❤
I'm 42, you look at least 10 years younger than I do! You are obviously doing something right, keep it up bro!!
Oh, his sign of the times is better, in my opinion! You need to check out Scott Hoying, the lead of PTX, singing The A-Team and his cover of Red's I Should Tell Your Momma On You!!! Kevin has perfect pitch, he doesn't need the note!

I have been waiting for you to discover this! Thanks!! This is why most describe him as the best musician in PTX along with his perfect pitch.
I'm proud of him he is multi-talented, I wish I was.Now him, I am jealous of. Wish I could do halfof what he can.
This man is one of the most talented people I have ever seen.....no bounds bro!!
Your face! Yes! That's the reaction I wanted!
The man is a genius!!! 🥰🥰
Look at you! You have such a great face! I really enjoy watching your reaction videos and this was a really good one. I’m not previously familiar with this one at all but enjoyed it very much. We need to celebrate how talented these young people are!
he is a rare gem. No question from me. :)
Your smile during the start was infectious. :)
Right?! How dare he!!! Come out here and F***ing have the NERVE to redefine genius for us. And remind me that I could've been musically awesome too if I hadn't given up. F***ing Kevin. Man he's awesome though! Hope he keeps rubbing my nose in it for a long time.
Without a doubt all 6 PTX members (past and present) have an Insane amount of talent. But no question Kevin is #1 on that list.
Kevin(KO) carries the beat in PTX so he only sings parts occasionally. Please take a look this mashup featuring KO for another view of his talent. MASHUP // Every Breath + 500 Miles // POMPLAMOOSE ft. KO.
Van might just be the man of the year!
I love that Kevin combines classical music with other genres
Pretty sure the piano note is a reference to the original track. Kevin (and now possibly Matt I think) are the ones with perfect pitch in Pentatonix.
Cello,, but VAN, Your Face .. its cracking me up Love it
Would Love to see you and JoJo react to Pentatonix - Evolution of Rhianna or even Evolution of Beyoncé together sometime! 🎶
If you haven't seen / reacted to it, you can catch his Cello plaything in the PTX cover of Radioactive along with Lindsey Sterling
I need a whole song from him with a looper of just his voice. I know he's just as talented on strings and piano, but as a deep base, and beat boxer that can go that high he could do a lot of those sounds with just his voice. And looper artists that just use their voices to make the song are so rare, but I think he could kill anything.
My personal favorite of his solo original songs is Renegade. Here’s the MV th-cam.com/video/gouiY85kD2o/w-d-xo.html
After Avi Kaplan, Kevin is my favorite member of Pentatonix. SO talented! Wish Avi was still in the group...but Matt is good.
I hear Avi left to be home with his family more. All the traveling and touring kept him away from his family.
I've heard you sing .You are pretty brilliant singer. You can do this!!!
Hey Van you wanna know who inspired Marc Rebillet to do what he does? His name is Reggie Watts. Improv music comedian, band leader for ComedyBangBang and the Late Show with James Corden. Reggie is a genius!
I just love Kevin! So talented!! Great reactions!
PTX Radioactive (with Lindsey Stirling on the violin) for KO beatboxing while playing the cello (cello-boxing). It's also a super cool song & vid.
This was amazing! Thanks for this!
There's some pretty amazing things happening in Pentatonix, you may be missing out on. Kevin! Check out Kevin's Fifth!!!!!
Also Van, it's not too late to pick up your art again. Sir, you need to put your eyes back into your head. They fell out when Kevin started playing the cello again.
Your reaction is priceless
I knew u wud b blown away....
I've never seen this thanks for sharing.
All of us waiting for the drop 😁
So good to see this one again!!! Maybe JoJo will appreciate this one! 🤣🤘
He’s famous for it. That’s how PTX found him….
Yes!!!! I was hoping you'd get around to this one! So damn talented 🔥❤
