Best "chemin de fer "performance on TH-cam so far. I closed my eyes and saw the train. I dont know if people realize the time and commitment it needs to play this piece, this way in public. Anyway, a huge Bravo !
Jean Martin the piece itself is quite straightforward and quite easy to learn (for me). But to have that much feeling and passion put into the music is at another level!
Oh my God!! What an amazing ending/coda!! When I close my eyes and hear this I can really visualize exactly these things: 04:10 the train expelling smoke from the chimney and pipes while it slows down( 04:16 ).. 04:20 the train just arriving and stopping at the station's platform 04:28 the station's(or the train's) bells ringing to warn passengers that it's time to disembark from the wagons 04:35 the passengers(or "the traveler" - probably Alkan himself) landing on the station with their(or his) bags, putting the hat on the head and gazing the beauty of destination's landscape in a cold full moon's night with the moon between the mountains and hills in the field's horizon with a satisfied feeling by having finally arrived after a long trip... Wow and at last, these few final seconds brought tears to my eyes of emotion of how realistically I can visualize that! Congratulations Yui Morishita!! Thanks for sharing this jewel to us!
Best and most accurate performance of this I've heard. His endurance is insane - I can only play the first 3 pages at about 60% speed and then my technique gets sloppy The commitment involved in getting this piece up to this standard is crazy!
Incredible pianism! Yui seems like a one-in-a-million. Just goes to show that practice makes perfect, especially for someone who's obviously born with it!
Yeah one in a million would mean there are 8000 other pianists like him, but I doubt there are even 100 pianists who can play this piece correctly in the world
This guy is an Alkan legend.... nobody plays this piece, nor the fiendish Scherzo Focoso, with such extreme verve, vivacity and virtuosity. Bravissimamente
What incredibly efficient technique. Never heard this piece played so accurately and precisely. Of course after conquering the Scherzo Focoso, this is a piece of cake in comparison.
I know this isn't Tinder, but...this interpretation deserves a SUPER LIKE 👍. His huge sigh at the end tells you everything about the ridiculous hours he had to practice to avoid any costly mistakes. I don't know how you can recover from making a single mistake anywhere in this piece when it goes this fast...
There's probably only 100 people who have EVER existed on this planet that could do what he just did,out of the billions and billions of people, well done
[Alkan Specialists in chronological order] Ronald Smith and others - Marc-André Hamelin, Jack Gibbons and others - Vincenzo Maltempo and *Yui Morishita!* I admit he is one of the newest Alkan specialists!! Amazing performance!!
I will just mention Igor Roma, Gong Jing, Chi Ho Han and Yeol Eum Son for their nice interpretations of Le Festin d'Esope~ and also Mark Viner is not bad, his recordings of some Alkan's pieces can be found on yt)
As much as I dislike his extremely rushed and sometimes rather violent play style in the op.15 pathetique (brilliant techniques nonetheless), this is very impressive. Hat off for Mr Morishita
Sir, greatest respect. You are an absolute top in Alkan interpretation. Moreover, I am currently reading about Ki energy, well, you are an amazing example of the releasing of the power of ki. Domo arigato gozaimasu.
sebastian benedict flore is familiar with Wim Winters’ research. Therefore, he can tell us that Alkan’s etudes is impossible to play at the composers pace.
Incredibly stupendous technical execusion along aide with impetuously passionate expression . Unfortunately, some of the performance sounds really sloppy to me.
Lovely piece, and your performance of it is very rich and moving. It weaves through so many expressive regions that it almost seems like a small ballade.
isn't it obvious in Bach's case? it would be 'fugue-train' ofcourse with his sign on some places and on last cadenza the engine motiff probably would be something with b-a-c-h.
