Rick Barry was a player who could play against anyone with great success, a rare skill in basketball!
He also understands basketball at all levels so when he talks about anomalies in basketball, he's not talking fiction but fact, the nba players he mentioned are at the peak of basketball achievement, he could have mentioned Bird or a few others he didn't!
But he wasn't forecasting players for skills but anomalies, Wilt statistically was an incredible anomaly, LeBron is just so an anomaly for playing at a very high level for a extremely long time.
These are facts and the greats of sports are different and Rick Barry recognises this in players past and present, he also understands that time gave him the ability to appreciate them and having seen him play at his best, he was a commanding presence himself on the basketball court both as a player and a presenter!

Rick Barry was kinda like Larry Bird before Larry Bird arrived in Boston. Rick was a prolific scorer and the best passing forward in the NBA and was also a damn good rebounder before he blew out his knee in the ABA. Because of the knee issue Barry became more of a outside shooter as well as a slasher and Rick focused his defense more on disrupting the passing lanes and getting steals. In 1975, the year the Warriors won the chip, he was getting a ridiculous 3 steals a game. Rick Barry is so underrated and is one of the greatest players ever at the small forward position.

Rick Barry is an All Time Great . University of Miami . How did they think Bill Bradley was a better player than him in college ? Barry was great

Bradley in college was before my time. But apparently he was an outstanding College player. But yes he was nowhere near Barry's caliber or the caliber of many other All-Star forwards of his era. As Wilt Chamberlain said "Bill Bradley was a pretty good pro basketball player, but never great."

Yeah, no mention of Bird? He simply did not have the time [evidently] to list another 12 players that would fit his opinions of being elite and also, an anomally. Not a bigge, Rick, I know your mind and we all know Larry Bird''s unsurpassed skills/ gut-set.
I say, "Rick, are you listenting?" A healthy Bird--when you pick what would be a perfect basketball player--this guy, [being] 6-9-1/2 Larry Bird, was the creation of the very best you can have without being particially a robot.
His height fit to perfection with his skills..
Without his devastating injuries, he is without a doubt--"King Of The NBA."

Rick Barry was pure scorer ,he got his points the hard way , no traveling or palming.
Rick had no weakness in his game, in his prime Rick was the best small forward in shooting , passing ,steals , Baylor, Bird, Erving probably better rebounders but not by much.
NBA finals series Barry contributed 75% of his team scoring . The second highest teamate scorer was 12 points per game .
Barry & Bill Walton were the only 2 players that won a championship with extreme underdog team.

The Bullets played the Boston Celtics that had Dave Cowens & John Havlicek.
It was a war playoff series that night habe tired out the bullets a bit.
But the Warriors faced the Chicago Bulls that had great defense too ,so it probably evened out.
The NBA was banking on the 76ers to win ,they gave Julius Erving The most physically talented team in NBA history .
NBA was crowning Dr.J as their new modern king.
But Bill Walton proved that dominant defensive center & team fundamentals is greater then physical athletic ability.
