All eyes are on the Union Budget 2024 and expectations to bring substantial tax reliefs and support for industries, farmers, and the middle class are high. Experts believe the government may introduce additional deductions and raise the 80C deduction limit to make the new tax regime more attractive. There is also anticipation that 80C benefits could be extended to the default tax regime to encourage adoption. Experts also believe that rationalizing these tax slabs could significantly increase disposable income, thereby boosting economic activity and GST collections. Business Today TV’s Sakshi Batra speaks with tax expert Gauri Chadha.
