The pallets (because you have a million of them) try using folder/letter holders so you have them displayed and can clearly see them. Then turn them all backwards in the holders and after 6 months get rid of the ones that you don’t use (the ones facing forward) if they aren’t collectors items
Keto Leo can do the same with your closet too! Turn the hangers so they are facing the opposite direction (the hanger not the shirt/pants etc) and in 6 months donate what you never messed with
Agree - throwing palettes into a basket or drawer without some kind of organization is why they pile up. You have no idea what you have. I don’t have room for letter openers but I stack them on their sides in my makeup drawers so I can easily grab the one I want to use.
Eyeshadow palettes are my weakness - especially ColourPop. You can also paint the cabinet doors with a simple stencil to add character without doing too much more work.
I'm the same 🙈 Makeup Revolution was my first eyeshadow love, so I own about 65 of their palettes 😅 And Colourpop is my new love, but luckily they don't take up as much space 😁
Acrylic containers are awesome! I love the long rectangular ones over the square ones, since I feel like they are more versatile: you can stack blushes on their side, eyeliners lay flat, palettes with their bindings on the top for easy access (& will have a designated place and not fall over), and they always fit one way or another in a drawer. 100% would recomend for you to get them if you can instead of the separators, since a structure helps to keep the organization of each space and prevents you from overflowing them too much.

For palettes, I use two-tiered wrought iron baskets that I bought from Target. They hold a surprising number of palettes and, since I'm going through my palettes using each for a full week (last time I did this, it took more than a year to get through my collection), I'm able to separate my palettes by which I've used, and which I haven't. Good luck with finding an awesome solution for yourself!
While you did makeup declutter I decluttered my entire room and closet and I feel SO GOOD. I start my second semester of uni on Tuesday but I stay at my parents homes so it felt amazing to declutter and organize and just get that space under control... so I feel you on the relief you feel when you finally finish getting everything out of your life and organized. It's such a good feeling to be like "yes I got this under control" I would like to note I got rid of 16 garbage bags of donations and 6 of trash and 4 bags of my ex's belongings that I couldn't wait to get out of my life. Ugh you go girl. Keep that makeup clean!
I've started organizing my palettes like books on my self with bookends. It's all I can really figure out to do at this point. Love your videos, Rachel!
I use utensil organizers for my stuff in my drawers. I like them because I can pop them in the dishwasher if I spill something. I just bought adjustable ones on Amazon for my hair brushes and silverware organizers for thinner items.

I'm currently decluttering my nail polish collection. At first, I tried testing on nail swatch sticks, but I quickly found that something that applies great on plastic can be a problem on a nail and vice versa. It also didn't give me a clue about wear time, which is an important factor for me (if I give you your best chance at life and you STILL chip after day two, I can't help you). I decided I'd have to wear the polishes I'm testing, which means I'm currently rocking ten different colors every time I do my nails. I'm grouping them by color family (trying to weed out dupes), so they at least look somewhat coherent. Oddly enough, I've gotten a ton of compliments in the past few weeks...
I am doing this now with my makeup and my husband is doing the garage (which is giving me more work bc I have things in bins). I have 3 huge boxes of clothes, and 1 box of makeup. I have a makeup room, my daughter has a play room, my husband has his man cave room, then my daughters room, and me and my husbands room. We are also in the process of decorating the sun room. Thennn my husband has to set up all of the outdoor furniture, tables, 0 gravity chairs and so on. Basically, I'm not enjoying my life right now. We moved the very beginning of October, 2+ hours away to our dream house, which is amazing, but I have no one to help me besides my mother in law or sister in law, who both have no idea about makeup... We bought the house in excellent condition, so at first we had to paint the rooms to colors we liked. We bought all new furniture, the closet space is amazing. There are two closets in 2 rooms, and the other 3 have big walkwalk in closets. The way they had the closetscset up was horribly stupid and such a waste of spaceOh and to answer yourquestiom.. eyeshadow products - I love matching my eyeshadow to my clothes, & have palette, singles, magnetic holders filled with single shadows, cream eyeshadows, loose glitter, Stila glitter, and others like that, glitter jelly, palettes with mostly glitter shadows (regular palettes too, ofcourse, it's not all glitter lol), singles, glitter everything, I have a problem... 😂
I store my palettes in 2 drawer organizational cube from Michaels.com. Each drawer has vertical dividers, which can be removed if necessary. This way I can see all my palettes very easily. The same company make a 3 drawer cube which I store smaller palettes & misc makeup goodies. They stack easily & have made accessing my HUGE collection easier.
I have so many highlighters, palettes, brow products, and contour items... oh, and 200+ brushes lol... I keep my palettes in 3 drawers, 4 on my vanity in a folder organizer, and alot on 2 Mosslanda photo ledges and ill occasionally swap those out with the ones in drawers so i dont forget about them... they all just kinda rotate. I just purged my lipsticks and went from 300 to 120

Personally when it comes to palettes I like to display them like books, standing and with their spine facing out, that way I can see them easily and don’t forget about them, also it helps me see if my collection if getting out of hand.
Hi Rachel, loved the video. My makeup area is in our Master bedroom too, for my palettes I ended up getting these hanging cubes that i can store my palettes in , still see all of them . Since I'm using my wall space it doesn't seem cluttery

For your palettes having bins and organizing them like records I a crate versus throwing them/piling them in or put a cabinet like the ones you put doorsn on and create a sort of "book shelf" of palettes so you can see each one. I have my bigger pallettes on a shelf (like books ok a book case) and a box for my smaller ones where I can see the edge of each of them. The ones I can't recognize from the top I labeled
Also making a label for when things were brought in (bought/ pr) and opened-- or inputting into an app like I suggested helps me to keep them organized and know when they have gone off/should be tossed
I’ve seen a lot of you tubers that do bins for upcoming videos. Just like the ones you would do in drawers. That way when either PR comes in or if you are pulling for a video, it can be gathered up together.
If you still don’t love the white cabinets, you could try removable stick on wallpaper to give a little visual interest! I’m sure you can find a gray pattern 😉
Hi! I've seen people use CD racks (stand-up and slightly tilted) for palettes. Idk if you could use them in drawers but they looked pretty cool and organized on a flat surface 😊😊 love you!

I loved those before and after drawer shots! The whole declutter must be really exhausting. You did a really good job. I have a weakness for lipsticks and highlighters, I just don't need anymore but I can't stop getting new ones. I still haven't touched high end shadows, any lipsticks (dreading) and only one small drawer of highlights done. I'm trying to get a handle on this... It's madness lol! I'm soooooo proud of you. My weakness has to be primers and foundations. But I was very proud of myself... It's already getting messy again though lol🤷🏼♀️🤦♀️

I have a lot of foundations and eye shadow palettes. I started trying out more drug store make up last year, and I didn’t know what type of foundation I wanted. I ended up collecting a bunch and later figuring out what I like, but haven’t gotten rid of things I don’t use! I also have a lot of blush and like so many colors and always want more and have to stop myself lol
I would maybe recommend the one in-one out method. When you buy a new item, you have to get rid of one you already have. Or customize that to you and maybe do two in-one out, etc. I try to keep to one in-two out at the moment, because I’m in a declutter/moving stage. It really helps keep you accountable for your things, and not just makeup. I use that method for almost every item category in my home... including clothes, kitchen items, decor, my husbands tools, books, and my kids toys! Has been a great way to declutter, make some extra cash by selling things online, and many donations :)

Hmmmm, I wonder if magazine holders would work for your eyeshadow palettes. You could sort by brand or color family, etc. I do this b/c the nice clean side faces the world but I can easily grab what I need.
For some reason I keep mascaras! I literally only use the same Stila one every day but I keep all the other ones in a jar “just incase” even though they’re probably all crusty by now

May not be the best, but have you tried lining your pallets up almost like a bookshelf? I find that helps me especially for the big ones that refuse to fit in drawers
Congrats on decluttering and organizing! I know it's really overwhelming to see how much one accumulates without realizing it. I know you also have anxiety and as someone with anxiety, when stuff is cleaned and organized, it relieves a lot of that stress. One idea for your pallets: try organizing them like books. Meaning, have the spines out so you can easily recognize which one it is. Maybe as a way to add color to your background since there's a lot of white in the space.
This is a great video. I have too many lip products. And foundations, but that's because I keep buying them trying to find one that works for me that I don't have to mix.

Office folder/file organizer things in your shelves with the doors for your pallets. One for each brand type of deal.
For the palettes, use a dish rack (or a dish display unit)! That way they're out and you can see what you have.

I just shake my Colourpop back up,they seperate pretty quickly but work the same after shaken,they arent necessarily old.😁

Just a thought, but if you’re finishing your basement, could you move the guest bedroom downstairs and turn the current one into a filming and editing space? Your setup is great now but it’s always nice to be able to separate your work and personal space. Love the de clutter videos!

May not be the best, but have you tried lining your pallets up almost like a bookshelf? I find that helps me especially for the big ones that refuse to fit in drawers

Congrats on decluttering and organizing! I know it's really overwhelming to see how much one accumulates without realizing it. I know you also have anxiety and as someone with anxiety, when stuff is cleaned and organized, it relieves a lot of that stress. One idea for your pallets: try organizing them like books. Meaning, have the spines out so you can easily recognize which one it is. Maybe as a way to add color to your background since there's a lot of white in the space.
