This really is a brilliant song. Nothing else sounds like it. It doesn't sound like The Beatles, the Stones, Sabbath or Zeppelin - it is 100% original, but still so classic. It almost comes from nowhere and is incomparable.
In a rock era when people still danced, BOC's work didn't resonate with a mass audience. But the hip listeners didn't care. Their material was storytelling, backed by stellar arrangements and powerful playing. They're one of the best in my opinion.
Don't Fear The Reaper was the favourite song of one of my best friends Scott Morgan. He was killed by a truck driver who fell asleep at the wheel, over his hours for driving. The truck hit their car head on, Scott was 18, his mate Simon Harthman also died aged 21. Also memories of Nancy Loomis and Jamie Lee Curtis driving to their fateful encounter with Michael Myers in 1978.
They still sound and look awesome. A song I've heard a million times and I'm still not tired of listening to it. Thanks BOC for years and years of pure enjoyment everytime , very Masterpiece !

It doesn’t matter where I’m at or what show I’m watching this song always finds me. This is my greatest song of all time let’s keep rocking boys and girls. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🌹🌹
B.O.C. rules! "(Don't Fear) The Reaper," is the best power ballad ever! I saw them live in 1994 and 2001, and they gave an excellent performance both times.
All our times have come Here but now they're gone Seasons don't fear the reaper Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain, we can be like they are Come on baby, don't fear the reaper Baby take my hand, don't fear the reaper We'll be able to fly, don't fear the reaper Baby I'm your man La, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la Valentine is done Here but now they're gone Romeo and Juliet Are together in eternity, Romeo and Juliet 40, 000 men and women everyday, Like Romeo and Juliet 40, 000 men and women everyday, Redefine happiness Another 40, 000 coming everyday, We can be like they are Come on baby, don't fear the reaper Baby take my hand, don't fear the reaper We'll be able to fly, don't fear the reaper Baby I'm your man La, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la Love of two is one Here but now they're gone Came the last night of sadness And it was clear she couldn't go on Then the door was open and the wind appeared The candles blew then disappeared The curtains flew then he appeared, saying don't be afraid Come on baby, and she had no fear And she ran to him, then they started to fly They looked backward and said goodby, she had become like they are She had taken his hand, she had become like they are Come on baby, don't fear the reaper
Saw these guys with Albert Bouchard for the 40th Anniversary release of Agents of Fortune, Beverly Hills April 2016. Albert played Cities on Flames for encore with their current drummer. What an epic show! Albert is married to my best friend!
Love playing this on my guitars! Used to play this in my cover band back in the late '70's and never get tired of it!! For those that haven't heard it - if you like this, I think you will like BOC's Burnin' for You as well.
BÖC is one of my favourite bands and certainly the most influencial on my work as a composer / musician. I would love your input on the first video of my first album. It got the attention of one of my heroes Joe Bouchard (ex bass player founding members of BÖC) who is following us on Soundcloud but returns from people who likes same music is always the best. If you have just 3 minutes to listen and a bit more to comment, that would mean the world to me. Keep rockin' : th-cam.com/video/Pu_p1wbaCa8/w-d-xo.html and also covers on our TH-cam page plus our version of Astronomy to come real soon : th-cam.com/channels/AmHkrbPSluJvfQuedZw7DQ.html
My dad played it all the time when I was younger. Learnt to appreciate the guitar solo massively. Sad to say he passed in 2019 but it was his curtain close song as we left the crematorium. Ill have it at my funeral 100%
Why do you think they changed it up? How did you notice this? I’ve always wondered what keys songs I love are in - if there’s a connection. Also, major or minor and the differences?
@@CrazyLG72 You can tune the guitar up and down however you want, so that's definitely not the reason to change the key. Usually bands play in a different key to make the vocals sound better.
In all honesty when the bridge came, I always like get kinda shaken by it... This was the first band that like haunted me... And when the bridge hit here, it was that same feeling in my gut... Like it dropped and just sat there... DOPE
I saw these guys at My Father's Place undercover as Soft White Underbelly In Syosset N.Y. U Couldn't slide a piece of paper between the crowd. Amazing Raw Live performance 👏 Went to 2 Ramones Concers back then... Entire audience bopping up and down together....👍🇺🇲
The most amazing thing about this is the fact that not only is Austin Powers an amazing spy, he also plays some mean drums. 3:24 mark in particular was the dead giveaway.
Had the honor of seeing them LIVE.. still get chills .Meadowlands ~198...1??... MAGIC ✨ still wonder if those people laying on the ground at the gates woke up'..Black & Blue ',,got there late ...
They'd perform every year at New George's Saloon on 4th Street in San Rafael, CA as 'Soft White Underbelly' in the late '80s-early '90s...a dive bar with BOC! It was epic.
Can you imagine what Hendrix would have done to this song? The guy at 00:59 looks like every guy I ever knew back in the 70's. We'd sit in each other's bedrooms with a window open so we could blow the smoke out from the pot we were smoking. A lid was $15, which was three fingers across a baggie. An ounce was $20, which was four fingers across a baggie. We would use a gatefold album like Sgt. Pepper's or Tommy to get the seeds out. Usually, we would talk about different bands that we were into or the lyrics of songs or we'd talk about the girls in high school. It was a lot of fun, man.
meme 40 ans apres je kiffe toujours autant!!!!!! c est marrant j ai redecouvert ce groupe grace a cette chanson a la fin d un episode D ORANGE IS A NEW BLACK ........sur netflix......j ai 53 ans et mon pere ecoutait ca........
Wow 👏 friggin 😍 amazing never seen that clip before you guys certainly 😍 nailed it. Hope you guys live long and prosper.Best wishes from lefty Jeff in Sheldon Birmingham. Keep on rocking 😎.
I like that it is only five musicians up there. Some other gigs I've seen on here they have had more musicans and vocalist accompaniment and IMO it takes over the sonic spectrum. This is the way it should be.
This really is a brilliant song. Nothing else sounds like it. It doesn't sound like The Beatles, the Stones, Sabbath or Zeppelin - it is 100% original, but still so classic. It almost comes from nowhere and is incomparable.
@Pfb1994
And hence the beauty of these incredible musicians, no one sounds like them.
Buck Dharma.. what an underrated guitarist. This song never gets old.
Buck is god bro...
F...ing great song.......
Fuckin aye, bud
Very underrated, top dog in a live concert!
He's one of rocks underrated!!

What a great band, one of the most underrated.
Yeah very under rated
💯🎬
Agree with that statement. HOF worthy.
I disagree. Well respected. Most of us rockers love these guys. First class pioneers.
Misunderstood by many.
When it was first released, we all knew it was a work of art. But then, we realized it was actually a masterpiece which would transcend time. Wow!!!
Undoubtedly one of the best guitar pieces ever written....timeless.

what a song. What a band.
One of my all time favorite songs! I love many covers of it, but nothing beats the original for me. Legendary tune.
damn what a great song! Heard this for the first time when I was 14 in the intro of The Stand and was blown away by it ever since.
This song always make my day better
This song just isn't the same without Gene Frenkel. RIP buddy!
Dude had a fever!
Amen!
so many nights I would wake up in the middle of the night, and this song seemed to always be playing then, just an iconic song for the ages

Never knew they could shred a solo section like that. Impressive!
Never get tired of it. Awesome and iconic.
All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain, we can be like they are
Come on baby, don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand, don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly, don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man
La, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la
Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity, Romeo and Juliet
40, 000 men and women everyday, Like Romeo and Juliet
40, 000 men and women everyday, Redefine happiness
Another 40, 000 coming everyday, We can be like they are
Come on baby, don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand, don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly, don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man
La, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la
Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared, saying don't be afraid
Come on baby, and she had no fear
And she ran to him, then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodby, she had become like they are
She had taken his hand, she had become like they are
Come on baby, don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun the rain, we can be like they are
I'm 62. I saw BOC in the late 70's. They became one of my favorite bands after that. I still listen to them today. They still sound fucking great.
DITTO! ...except, I'll be 62 in May
Me 2! They played at the Ionia Free Fair in Ionia Michigan in 83. Best concert ever. no comparison. 🏆🎸🏆

Just can't say enough good things about this all time great work of art
I love the key they're playing this in B instead of A so cool calm and amazingly tight as hell..

One of the greatest rock bands of all time, BOC.!!!
Glad the bass rig came back after it went out. WHEW! The solo break is monsterous.
Everyone: That song is so amazing!
Me: His guitar looks like cheese.
Buck himself calls that guitar the "CheeseBerger"
you're right... it does!
Just love love this song❤❤ it's a memory but Beautiful #1 Song of all time
Playing it at 1.05 speed changes it to Bm and it sounds so good!
What you are forgetting is that's the speed they played it during the coked out 70s.
Ésto si es musica tantos años y sigue siendo un piezon está cancion.
I’ve got to see them one more time before I go see the reaper ..... Blue Oster Cult forever !!!!!!!!
Unreal music, impressive, master, guitar semi god, a human song for humanity times, desperation for live
Great bass playing
Its lyrically beautiful. And deep. .. amazing
