Jensen would be a great guest to have on, talk about early days being toxic and getting banned, then c9, liquid, potentially joining EG together, his next steps, etc
The LS cadrel ep was good. But God damn this episode was amazing. The chemistry the boys have is unmatched. And the added bonus of having meteos cam made busting so much easier.
For me, I loved old school LCS so much, was because of team loyalty and their associated players. For example, when I think CLG, I see Doublelift, TSM: Dyrus, C9: Sneaky, Dignitas: scarra, Curse: Saintvicious, etc. This also lead to rivalries. Nowadays, players move around different teams every season or so. You lose that satisfaction of a team that wins and was together for a long time.
I’m a 30 y/o man and I still remember getting into league because of the OG C9 in summer 2013 and I still play to this day. Love the costreams and love seeing all three of you in y’all’s natural environments together 😂
Honestly my favorite player in lcs of all time doublelift , the goat . Sad that your not playing anymore you were the reason I couldn’t wait for lcs to start , thanks for the content !
its great seeing content like this after playing league for 12 years and following you guys throughout the entirety of it because like you said back then it was so different especially as a viewer compared to now the personalities back then really stuck out and made following individual players or teams way more authentic and now getting to have more insight into those times is just really dope also, meteos looks completely blown the entire video and its great lmao at 1:10:47 when meteos said "carries about his players" can tell the man embraced C9 to the fullest
I was in that crowd in Scotiabank Arena for that final. One of the most electric crowds I've ever seen. Seeing replays of that last teamfight gives me chills to this day. Still the best LCS final in my very bias opinion.
That whole conversation about filming right after games is goated. I hope teams watch that. Fantastic episode and I absolutely love listening to the three of you. Please consider doing live views. You guys have that website setup to do that, and you used to do that before co-streaming was a thing.
Probably my favorite league of legends moment ever is that teamfight you turned around against C9 in 2016 summer finals. i still go back and watch that and it makes me feel things.
Crazy how they explained positional coaches vs strategic coaches vs head coach as good subroles rather than singular coaches without having the terms. A concept already done in the eastern regions for years.
Meteos comment about 60 ping... i felt that in my soul. Lost all drive when the server moved happened. It's insane how much of a difference there is between 20ms and 60ms
Love this episode. Been into League (and pro scene) since season 1. Been a while since I last thought about golden age C9 and it´s really refreshing. Love to find out some background stories!
@@doublelift now that you and sneaky are friends you guys need to touch on your rivalry back in the day with the sneaky in lane meme and him calling you doubleplug.
Some of my favorite moments 18:30 what a golden comment about Balls. LOL 27:30 A ****ing piece of paper 😆 1:03:50 Loading screen, "Have we ever won a scrim with Zac jungle?" 1:26:44 Filming you after matches 1:37:53 Prolly: just agree with me Meteos 1:50:40 Item spike falsehood
To touch on the personality talk at 43:01 alot of players I didn't know anything about until hearing the coms in champs queue, like now I know olleh and palafox as actual people now not just a supp and mid player for X team, which helps me wanting to root for them/stay involved with the LCS scene
When Sneaky was talking about a scholarship his Mom paid into for 18 years what he was talking about was a 529 Plan. It's not really a scholarship, it's an investment account where parents can buy in and invest money in the stock market and stuff and so long as the money is used by a kid for college it's all tax free. In Sneaky's case obviously he didn't use it all so his Mom was able to withdraw the money again but had to pay taxes on the investment gains since the money wasn't being used for school expenses. Don't worry bro, she didn't lose any of it except what went to taxes, but she still got more back than if she paid for your tuition lol.
not to mention you're not gonna throw away perfectly good clothing (that you wear at home) just because you're not on the team anymore lol. Think of all those gaming chairs when they switch teams too
I love you three SO much. Im not a loud fan but Ive been around a lil minute. I really do appreciate yall. Yall are like, LEGACY league of legends for me. When I think of good League of Legends, I think of doubleloo, Snacky, and Meaty O's. Keep doing what youre doing
Was kind of hoping doublelift wouldve gone in on that 2018 semi run at worlds from c9, maybe ask them how their teams almost always performed better than doublelift's teams internationally. Wouldve loved to hear the background behind that
That was a great show! Learned a lot about behind the scenes and never knew about all those problems players deal with just trying to play on a team. Sad how orgs aren't prioritizing players more and also sad how sometimes you cant even talk about problems without watching your own back for people coming for you.
Would love to hear Hai and Lemon come on at some point to hear their thoughts on how everything was. Could you make that happen Doublelift? That would be so cool
Current LCS is a business and not players playing for fun. Even as late as season 6/7, you had players in gaming houses and living together, they were friends of a game. Now-a-days, everyone is doing a job. Going pro doesn't mean mean just playing on a stage anymore, it's a strict practice regimen, appeasing investors, not making a fuss. It's now more akin to the NFL than to an esports league. Hell even Valorant and CS:GO still have that down to earth homegrown eSports feel
This was such a good episode. So far both episodes were really really enjoyable. It feels really hard to top the first two episodes already. Looking forward to the next one : )
Hello Doublelift, me and my husband are among of your thousands maybe millions of fans. He is diffinitely rooting for you and was a little sad that you retire. We were gonna get your jersey (for husband) and Bjergsen (for me) because we were rooting for TSM and you said bjerg is a nice person. lol.. Not sure if you're going to read my comment but I am still supporting you by watching your YT vids. Keep making videos :) Hopefully, you'll play again on pro stage.
Golden age of LCS, players and teams had personality and stable cores that were highlighted. In those days you knew C9 had sneaky, lemon, hai and metos, CLG had double and aphro, TSM had turtle and dyrus.
On the point about contracting, why not put together a consultancy of pro players that teams could scrim against and be able to give feedback on what they felt about the team or what they could do differently
I would say now with jg’s like pridestalker , blaber, and Josedeodo even tho they are not always carrying they do have the potential to have those moments
Mid jg is a duo role, it's pretty much a 2v2, it can be jg being mids dog, or it can be other way around. I guess back then there wasn't these supportive utility mid picks.
1:34:00 Sneaky is right. Players need to put their power to get leverage with these offseasons. I think the Players Association needs to negotiate a free agency period where there is a time where contracts are over but players can't sign. for a few days to allow players time to talk to multiple teams.
Lol, when Meteos said the current system just favors coaches who suck up to management and use buzzwords, not people qualified for the role. Buddy, that's every job, every company, everywhere. The people who's only goal is to move up the ladder, get that promotion, make that money are NEVER the best at the actual job. Those are the people who are best at moving up the ladder.
yeah it's interesting that meteos started at the ground floor of a new industry and watched it instantly get gobbled up by the same forces that have eaten up the rest of the world. i think it'd make me jaded too, to see something so organic change so much so fast
Amazing content. I was a big CLG fan at the time when c9 started destroying everyone, and it was shocking. Meteos was like the Diamondprox of NA to me at the time, i remember him having like a 32 kda on zac or something, was nuts.
If double lift pins this comment I’ll think of something clever so he’ll pin this comment “I watch every video btw”
i dont know how to reply to this but youre the only one who asked so here you go

Agreed, I've been waiting for teams to come out of this era. Love seeing players associated with teams more than individual skill.
There's a few individual players that are very closely associated with their team. CoreJJ for TL, Ssumday for 100T, Jack signed Fudge through 2025.
When you finally getting to like the players on a team, and boom half of them are gone, and so does the synergy of the team
