  • I've decided that I've wanted to make a garden. On 4/4/14, I used my 1986 Wheel Horse 310-8 to do some moldboard plowing, and some disking. This was the first time this ground had ever been agitated, and I honestly don't know what I did right, or wrong! So try not to take any tips from me! ;D It was a blast doing this though. Something fun, for sure! Hope you all enjoy the video!

Grabbing a local 310-8 tomorrow. Excellent condition machine with 37” deck and plow.
Good deal for $130 bucks. Tough little tractors.

All things considered. Nothing more than wheel weights, and turf tires. I think you did fine. I realize this is 6 years+ ago, but getting the plow adjusted right is a big part of turning the soil. I like seeing a 310 being put to work. I have one in similar shape, cosmetically speaking. Plan on putting it to work this fall pulling a plow.

    Hey Stratostar,
Great rig you've got there. Get that coulter freed-up and your ploughing will be easier. Hard ground like that means the mouldboard is asked to lift twice the weight and that slows the tractor. Our garden gets plouged twicw a year and even then, if the coulter isn't in place and cutting we have trouble turning the sod.
Hope your garden turned out well and will give you enough for the Thanksgiving weekend.

You did a great job. My plow arrived and I just put a video out there. There is a learning curve, I also had the hitch reversed. Once I figured it out, the soil turned over. Its definitely a lot of fun.

Lower gear and you need ag tires or chains

Turf tamers are good for mowing grass but you really need some v tread tires for plowing or discing the wheel weights are a start but you oughta fill your tires with water or better yet washer fluid for added weight more traction should allow you to use a lower gear and have better control anyhow good luck and godspeed

Only having turf tires you did fine. Just tighten the sod wheel up and get a set of at tires.

Good work. Just head to youtube to find out how to set the plow up right. You will have it down in no time.

Thanks! I looked around a while before this, and know what I have to do, it's just all the adjustments are rusted solid. So once I free them up, It should work a bit better.

You really need to lean how to operate a plow! Set up is critical as is speed of the tractor. If done right you would not have to push it into the ground.

I know it was set up wrong, all of the adjustments were rusted solid, so I sadly couldnt do anything about it. Since then I've gotten a better plow!
