I am in my 50s.. When I moved to Denver in 2021 I bought some Bandits from Goodwill.. That was the first pair of skis that I skied on in the Rockies since 2002.. My one and only time that I skied on them it was flat light conditions after having a couple inches of snow.. They slipped on the ice and got stuck in the POW..
I demoed the Kore 99 and they were fine on the groomers but got stuck in the crud and were too reactive for me.. I didn't demo the Maverick TI but something tells me they are too reactive for me.. I did demo the Mantra 102 and I can't wait to demo the M6.. Actually now I think it is the M7.. I see plenty of older people on them.. I think it is more of if you prefer reactive or damp skis..

RC4CT is my favorite of all my skis. I think Fischer is cutting back a little. No-one on the French worldcup team on them next year. Dave Ryding has been on them forever but going with Head next year. Just some little things I’ve heard.

In case any ski company reps read this, I am a person who skis (not an industry person, or the best skiier on the mountain, I have never skiied competitively or made money skiing and I pay retail price) and buys skis (2 pairs new and one pair thrifted last season, undecided if I invest in a pair of strictly piste carving oriented skis next year to replace my destroyed slalom skis), and I watch this channel and consider it in my buying decisions and I agree with and trust Elliot's reviews over many of the channels more interested in selling skis than reviewing them. So at least you might get a sale from me by supporting Elliot's work :) .
I think hearing "who a ski is not for" and sometimes a more critical tone is important in a buying decision, any review that claims a ski is for everyone is not really credible, and if a person buys the wrong ski for what they want that's not going to drive return business.

Bret, I live not too far from Breck, Key, Vail. I bought in 2024 all three (plus a pair of Salomon Blanks for pow) that you mentioned except I bought the Kore 93. Took me a few years after moving to Paradise USA to realize that I don't need a one ski quiver.
Elliot is spot on with his assessment of all three. I am 6'2" 180lbs 70 years old and found out demo'ing this year that length will play a big part of your decision. I have skied 188s my whole life; advanced-expert cruiser like you. Of the skis I bought, only the Atomics are at that length, the rest are shorter. Groomer days with or without 3" of lighter/fluffier I am on the Atomics. Heaver snow and piles of crud.... the Mantras rule. The Kores come out on the days I'm feeling turny.... whether in the bumps or trees.... but not in anything above 3-4" new. If I had to pick one pair for the season it would be the Mantras. (Also try to get on a pair of K2 Mindbender 99 Ti.... very similar qualities as the Mantra imo)

PSIA members get huge discounts on Fischer skis, but I've never been able to demo them locally either, so I haven't bought. Ski Essentials always has good things to say about them. I feel like I'm missing out.

Grab a bag of lemons or limes. Fresh squeeze a bit of that juice into water and ice. It's fantastic and refreshing and adds interest to plain water.
Thanks for the ongoing insights into winter equipment Elliot!

Hey Elliot, could you review the Rossi Sender94s? From what I heard the 104 you reviewed feels too bulky for that construction but the 94 hits the perfect spot for all mountain

Fischer skis are made in Ukraine, which is making it very hard for them to supply product at the moment.

Some are made in Ukraine and some in Austria.

My Blizzard Brahma 82s were also made in Ukraine. So Blizzard too it seems does or did some of its manufacturing in Ukraine.

No more excuses... make the effort to head to Sun Valley or Grand Targhee / Jackson Hole, or SLC. We need more reviews of more skis

Haha did you pick the 3 priciest resorts on purpose? 1 sunvalley day pass and I might as well just buy a pair of fischer skis

Don't give up on fischer. They make a great product. They're not part of a mega conglomerate company. Continue to support independent companies!

Or get a Mountain Collective pass for $629 that includes 2 days at Sun Valley, 2 days Grand Targhee, and 2 days JH. 50% off additional days. JH is a great place to demo several skis in one day for about $80.

Thought about the Ranger 102. But chose the Rustler 10 (you already responded to this 😂, thank you).
Can't believe your at Bogus Basin. For me, a glitch in the Matrix... Ask me why.
Hope you like my videos, I like yours.

Too bad about the Fischers. I found them to be quite versatile. I thought I’d see more of them out on the hill but mine(102’s) were the only pair I saw. Lots of Bents and Nordicas where I was. Maybe the Ranger line just didn’t sell. We’ll know soon enough when they introduce the “all new…” for 2026.
