When i tighten the housing down on the throttle side with my Avon grips, they don’t turn freely. No matter what I do or how I position the grip as soon as I tighten the housing it doesn’t move. Leaving the housing loose it snaps back as it should. I even tried a light layer of grease around the lip but it still won’t retract. I followed the steps in the video so I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. They are grips for the fly by wire bar so who knows.
@@chaparralmotorsports I contacted the shop and they confirmed it’s the correct one. As I say no matter how I place it once the switch housings tightened down it won’t rotate. Looking at it side by side with the original grip it appears to be the same size. If I leave the switch housing lose it’ll rotate freely, but as I say when those torx are tightened it just grips the grip. Likely going to take a file to it. I had the grip on and off multiple times at the weekend and after nearly an hour and a half I reinstalled the original. Makes no sense for something so simple to change.
@@andrerodrigues1051 rotate the housing slightly. Weirdly it does move forward and backwards slightly on the bar and I found the alignment to be off ever so slightly.
I've ordered some Avon grips and I was worried about installation I watched your video I do appreciate it it's a very good video it answered a lot of my questions thank you very much have a good day
Hi Brian, you can use a light dab of medium loctite on the control housing screws. Be very careful not to use too much because it's easy to strip out those Torx heads the next time you have to get into the control housings. Thanks for watching.
Followed the video and did the install myself. Thank you! You just saved me $109. That’s how much my dealership charges per hour on labor.

Hello, it sounds like the grip isn't aligned in the housing properly. Also double check to make sure you have the right fitment for your motorcycle.

Im having the same problem. Will try to sand it down a little bit where you have those lips to see how it goes.

@@cornishreptiles yeah man I did that, loosen up the whole mounting including brake a little bit, and was finally able to fix it. Safe riding!!
I'm guessing that it would work the exact same way with my 650 vstar classic?
Not sure haven't installed these on one.
Do you have any videos for the avon heated grips?
Hello, sorry we do not.
Can these be used with bar end mirrors or bar end turn signals ?
