Endangered SAWing Surprises You Won’t Believe! January 2025 Fish Recap

- This month’s highlight reel was packed with unexpected guests, including rare and even endangered visitors. The biggest surprise? A sawfish-easily the standout moment of the month. But that wasn’t all! Several manatees stopped by, a manta ray made an appearance, and we even spotted a stargazer, which is quite a rare sight. Fun fact: Stargazers can deliver a shock of up to 50 volts from behind their eyes-hence the name. They literally make you see stars!
And as if that wasn’t enough, we also caught a glimpse of a possible Venus girdle jelly, part of the comb jelly family. These jellies are just as stunning as they are mysterious.
We also welcomed our annual visit from the guitarfish and the long-awaited horse-eyed jack. And let’s not forget the weird-looking larva or plankton (possibly Collozoum inerme)-still not sure what it is, but definitely interesting to watch.
Now, about the music: I’m all about the dance tunes, and when I asked the chat for suggestions, that’s exactly what I got. But after searching for something catchy, I just couldn’t make it work with the big, unexpected moments of the month. These surprise guests deserved a dramatic entrance, so I went in a different direction to give them the grand entrance they deserved.
Even with a broken wiper, this was a month to remember. Looking forward to what surprises next month brings!
