- Part 2 of my Solo Camping and Spearfishing adventure on some beautiful NZ Coastline. I hunt for Crayfish (Lobster), Yelllowtail Kingfish and Spear a nice fish to make into fresh Sashimi on the beach.

Glad to see you like Kahawai! I have a theory a lot of people don't really like fish that much, so go for low-flavour fish like snapper and gurnard.
That could be a good point, never thought about it that way. I think also it’s fish handling, as if Fish such as Kahawai are. Or bled and iced well then do become white ‘fishy’

I'm glad most people get scared of the thought as a lot of people probably shouldn't be diving alone as they dont have the proper training but I def love it obviously!

Is there a beach you can take the fourby on then swim out from shore for a spearfish? That would make a fun vid 🙂 Take the line through the soft sand, do a few donuts hehehe!

Give the camp oven a go. Sit it on a few ember's 20mm and then shovel a heap on top and leave it be for a couple of hours. Roast meal with minimal work.

@@olliecraig-primalpursuit you can get light weight ones, just make sure there is a lip covers the bottom pan. Nothing like the sense of accomplishment of plating a full roast meal from a fire.

heya bro love the content, magic as always :) just wondering for the weights do you find when diving down and staying down is best to have a sniff more weight to pull you down or are you fighting against rising to the surface ? any suggestions on a happy medium ? Cheers !
Hey mate, always safer to have less weight than more. A lot of people think that they are under weighted struggling to get down but most of the time its just their duck diving technique which needs work on. Having said that if you were literally diving nomore than say 5m for crays and paua etc i dont see a problem having a little extra weight
what a great place and food you have. try to search kinilaw food here in Philippines. try it to fresh fish. no need to cook. you will love it promise.

1 medium red onion minced
2 pieces green chili or Thai chili, cut into thin slices
salt
fresh ground pepper
just mix it with fresh fish ^_^

You know... if you scale the fish then take the skin off the fish put the skin in the fridge overnight then chuck it in a hot pan with oil crisp it up but sides... mate that's pork crackle right there! I seen a chef on Masterchef Aus just fry it up without scaling it... that was the bomb too..😋😋👌

Bro, just an idea but I saw some popular channels and what they did was reserve maybe a minute or two at the end of the video to give a sneak peak of the upcoming video. This keeps the audience in anticipation. Like I said, just an idea but current content still awesome. Keep up

Thanks mate, not super deep, maybe 15-20 but with wind and swell pushing boat into rocks and shitty vis it was a bit too overwhelming

Hey Ollie, any reason you don't use a grapnel anchor in the rocky stuff - or do you, and this one just wedged in an impossible position? Got to agree with you on the kahawai - people don't know what they are missing out on. Maybe next time you could try taking a sachet of lime juice to marinate some, then drain the juice off and have it with a little can of Trident coconut cream and some sweet chilli, etc. Stunning like that too.
I've just always used the anchor which came with the baot and never had troubles until now but will look into a grapple anchor! I often do the coconut type dish at home its great!
How deep can you dive mate? Also concerned about your diet so much salt bread and butter. A vegetable wouldn’t go amiss 😂
The only concern would be the ( REFINED TABLE) salt. We have beautiful RAW salt in NZ, Ollie could upgrade that. Salt is really bad for health?! It is true for refined salt, which has only 2 minerals and mess your system up. In other hand raw salt has more then 80 minerals and it is highly nutritious.
I'm sure Ollie is topped up on good minerals with all this dives, but yeah, refined salt is poison.
Deep enough to get a feed mate. dont really know as I mostly dive solo and dont push it close to limits. Will upgrade my salt!

It is an art to be refined with practice. Or, hammock camping ;)
No issues when you have a good blow up mattress I didnt feel a single rock

Not sure what you mean, if buying a speargun ask the shop to rig it with 14mm bands
