  • Samsung's own gesture navigation feature was removed with a recent update but we can bring it back with NavStar.

    Video Description
    ~~~~~
    Did you ever use the gesture navigation feature from Samsung Galaxy devices that had three swipe bars on the bottom. It gave you the ability to swipe up from the middle of the screen to go home. You could swipe up from the left side of the screen to view the recent apps page. And you could swipe up from the right side of the screen to activate the back button.
    #samsunggalaxy #galaxys24 #galaxys23 #galaxys22 #galaxys21
    This feature used to be an option that we could pick from the Display section of the Settings application.
    But with the new OneUI 6.1 update it looks as if Samsung has removed it as a choice.
    However, we are able to bring it back with the help of the Good Lock module called NavStar.
    Now, if you're not familiar with what the Good Lock application is, or how it works, then please check the video description below for a link to a dedicated video I've already done that talks about Good Lock and how to install it.
    Once Good Lock has been installed, open it up and then look for the module labeled NavStar.
    You'll see a download arrow next to the module, and it can be installed by tapping on it.
    Once installed, we can find it at the top of the list here.
    And then from here, let's tap over to the Swipe Gesture section.
    Now, we simply need to enable the Extra Gesture Settings feature by tapping the toggle for it here.
    And that's all we have to do.
    Once this feature has been toggled on, we can then go back to the Settings application.
    Dive into the Display section.
    And then tap the Navigation Bar menu.
    We need to switch over to the Swipe Gestures option, if you haven't done so already.
    And then tap on the More Options menu.
    This page is normally pretty bare as there's only one feature tucked away here.
    But once you enable the Extra Gesture Settings feature from within NavStar, you will get all of these other options to choose from.
    And right here, we can select the Samsung Navigation feature which allows us to Swipe from Bottom to activate the various navigation options.
    I suspect Samsung removed this as an option because so few people were using it.
    However, I understand how frustrating it can be to have a feature that you enjoy, just removed without any notice.
    So I do at least appreciate that they have allowed a way for us to bring the feature back.
    Thank you so much. A single like doesn't seem like enough.
    Removing swipe gestures was the equivalent of not being able to swype to type. Muscle memory got all crazy.
    Had to restart my phone for it to show up in phone settings
    Why is Samsung trying to be Apple. We got galaxy phones because they weren’t iPhones.
      Couldn't agree more! I can only assume they had usage stats showing few people are using it (sadly)
    how the swiping can be easier than 3 buttons?
      Try once. I got use to gestures so easily.. it's just natural.
    • @ExplainingAndroid
      swiping can be done without even looking at the phone. with three buttons, you have to know where the button is or eventually you'll miss it (that's one example)
      I too feel just a tap is easier than swiping. I've used it.. But reverted to buttons
