Another thing about the TUGS board game, Zebedee was listed as owned by Captain Star. Seeing as it was mistakenly released early, it could’ve either had something to do with the whole “Zebedee Star Tug in S2” idea from High Winds, or a simple mistake.
Tugs merchandise is very unique, as despite Tugs' run itself being short lived, the merch (mostly in Japan), is incredibly plentiful and varying in the types of books, toys and much more. (I NEED that Tugs toothbrush lol)
I do care for the books, my favorite actually being "Nothing to Declare" even if Johnny cuba is out of character I do like him being redeemed in that book
Great video I actually own almost 2 sets of the buzz books and quite a few extras! Ik you said you wouldn’t but it you ever make a video on them I’m always open to help!
I actually own the board game, it’s the only Tugs merchandise I’ve got, I got it on Amazon (It was the second listing I saw). I live in Canada, and it was on Amazon Canada, not sure if that makes it a Canadian release, but it does have a foldout play matt instead of an apparent puzzle piece together fit. I had no idea there was a North American version, I feel more proud to have it. And lucky for me, nothing was missing except for one of the card stands, for some reason I got two instructions though.
0:21 is no one going to mention how the series' music was apparently released? i had no idea until now but I am a little curious in what form it was released and if any copies exist... if the series music was released at all
I'm pretty sure it is most likely a situation somewhat similar to the TUGS Thai VCD release from 2005. When it was advertised (which by the time some TUGS merch was already released like the picture books and definitely the home video releases) it was either planned or likely did see a very limited release. Which explains why no copies has resurfaced as of yet.
They way there is a lot of Japanese merch, maybe they should've tried and get more airing popularity there than in America, then it would've lasted a bit more longer....

The tugs merchandising lore is intersting ngl

Those Australian colouring books are pieces of merchandise I’d like to get one day
It’s a shame there are no Ertl toys of Hercules and O.J. Because they are such cool characters.
The tugs fabric at 20:50 looks to be a Bento box lunch wrap, or known in japan as "furoshiki" wrap.

0:22 is there any evidence for a cassette or vinyl version of the soundtrack even existing?
I’d love to know this too!
Im 3d modelling a Zip model right now. How ironic.

Wait tugs had a portable game
Yup! TUGS had a LSI game released in Japan! Sadly from what I've heard it wasn't very good. Still a neat bit of history!
Okay I need it now @@SonicWalle
