This covers Round 5 of the 2000 World Rally Championship, broadcast by the BBC, which saw the teams move from Portugal to Catalunya, Spain for the season's inaugural asphalt event, Rallye Catalunya. The rally posed the question of whether Richard Burns and Subaru could build on their victory in Portugal with their 2000 specification car. Concurrently, there was keen anticipation for Colin McRae's performance, particularly with the circulating rumors of his threat to leave Ford over the persistent reliability issues of the Focus WRC. The event's commentary was provided by Marc James and Tiff Needell.
