This is one the easiest tricks to teach a dog. The more you teach the stronger the bond between you and your dog become. My Ruby Doo knows over 60 tricks so far :)
I honestly thought my westie Benji was too stubborn to learn cute tricks like this, but he learned to wave after only about 20 minutes of us going through the progression in your video! I didn't teach him it but my little westie 'Charlie' used to do this naturally, especially when I had a treat in my hand but had become distracted by something and was being too slow - as far as he was concerned - in giving him it. His way of attracting my attention !
Took a couple days but I think my lab will get it by tmr or so 😌 Had to get new treats for her motivation to get up! Thank you so much for sharing!! The transition from paw to wave was a bit tough for my 11 wk old pup but she’ll be fine

Hey excellent demonstrations. Love that beautiful little Westie. The instructions are very helpful but at some places you expect us to be speed readers - I have to keep freezing the video to read all of the instructions!.

That is true, I do expect you to pause the video to read the instructions as I can’t keep the words up for too long - it’s easier if you pause it to read it, that’s what I would do. I was thinking that when making the video but I didn’t really know what to do about it, sorry about that

Kurtis Rinker Sorry for the late reply. You could use something else instead of your hand. You could use a target stick or any other object (like a book for example) and see if that prevents the licking of your hand
